Hey 'Crappers...
Went to go see Hulk Hogan and Friends (Jimmy Hart, Brutus Beefcake, Greg Valentine, Brian Knobbs, Honky Tonk Man, Hillbilly Jim and Jerry Sags.) at my local casino yesterday. Lots of fun to hear them tell their stories and the casino had to threaten to turn the lights out on us to get us to leave when it was over.
There was one question that was asked that I thought other 'crappers might have a passing interest in.
For what it is worth...someone in the audience asked the wrestlers if they had heard there was any truth to the infamous Savage-Stephanie rumour and they all flat out said that they had never heard anything back in the day about it. Nothing to the effect any anything like that was true since then. "Internet rumour," said Brian Knobbs. "Urban legend."
I myself had thought that was the case. None of the fellows up on the stage even hinted by their words or actions that the rumour was true.
Definitely refuted, I would say. Anyways I offer it as an FYI.

Every time I hear an interview where this is asked the guys act like it was the first time they ever heard about it, but that really can't be so. Even if it's not true, I think everyone has heard some variation of the tale, yet no one is for sure why Savage hasn't returned.

As hilarious as it is, there is no way that rumor is true.

[Q:Savage and Steph?? A: An Urban legend that has been floating around for a while, is that Randy Savage is hated by Vince McMahon because he took the virginity of Stephanie McMahon at the age of 14. Unsurprisingly, no-one has ever confirmed this (add to that when Savage was last in the WWF Steph would have been 18, not 14). Another Wrestling Urban Legend is born!]
I don't think this comment refutes it really. It coulda just been uncovered later. I don't know either way, but I'm not too quick to dismiss it as Vince has patched things up with virtually everyone at some point or another. I just don't think Vince wouldn't be willing to use Savage for whatever he could, unless Mach had pissed him off worse than anyone ever has. I mean he's marched everybody that ever worked for him out in the last few years (Bret, Sunny, Dusty, Hogan, Hall, Nash,)
Savage had to have done something, I'm sure of it. What it was, I'm not so sure of. I think this one is still out in the air, and I think everybody is wary of making Vince mad, so I don't think confirming it would help either Vince or Savage. Regardless of whose side they were on, I don't think anyone who actually knew would speak about it. Furthermore, I don't find it hard to believe that a young Steph woulda been attracted to Savage. And in the version I've heard it was mutual and not rape. (Well it woulda been statutory rape)
I'm still undecided, but I'd have to have proof, or something pretty close to proof one way or the other to decide.

It doesn't "definitely" refute anything. Like anybody else that's even mentioned this, they could be keeping their distance from it. As many people that said it wasn't true, there have been people that have hinted that it was. Them "not having heard anything" doesn't mean something didn't happen.
One way or another, we'll never know 100% unless Savage, Vince, or Stephanie comes out and addresses it.

It's something people want so badly to be true, they seem to overlook the gaping logic holes in it, in addition to the fact viable reasons for Savage staying gone are readily available. In addition to leaving when Vince was running low on stars, he also took the lucrative sponsor Slim Jim, and Vince has been said to be very sympathetic to Elizabeth. So, their relationship crumbling didn't help matters. It's easy to see this being a possibility when one looks at how Luger's portrayal by WWE suffered tremendously around Elizabeth's death, with Vince supposedly holding Lex responsible.
Perverse amusement, wanting someone to stick it to Vince or Steph, and the idea that all wrestlers, especially old school ones, are deviants and fiends seems to power this myth, but while it sounds like some "Too wild not to be true" story, it doesn't add up.

He better be alive when he gets inducted and he better be the Headliner, if DiBiase and Rhodes can headline.

I also get the impression that Vince would probably consider it if Macho Man would make any appearances or promote, but it doesn't seem like Savage has much interest in doing anything profile.

And in the version I've heard it was mutual and not rape. (Well it woulda been statutory rape) It's rape to me, given Savage's state of mind at the time, as well as him being way too overprotective of Elizabeth (you know, Liz being ordered by Savage to stay in her dressing room and he would lock the door until his match is ready). Whether if it's rape or consensual, is still debated to this day.

Wow, you're pretty easy to please if that's "definitely refuted". If Brutus Beefcake had said "maybe" would you be posting about how it was definitely confirmed? I also get the impression that Vince would probably consider it if Macho Man would make any appearances or promote, but it doesn't seem like Savage has much interest in doing anything profile. Where do you get that impression? I've heard several reports of Vince vetoing Savage in various things. Maybe newz, but the fact that Vince could have made a ton of money off of Savage and chose not to tells me something's up.

I don't know if he ever vetoed him on anything, but he put a DVD out of his best matches. He also had him in that WWF History video set to the song Lonely Road Of Faith. Is he on the WWE intro?
I know that Savage is pretty recluse, but I don't know why that is.

Hogan didn't seem to have a hard time believing the rumor a few months ago on his radio show (although he did act like it was the first time he heard it).
I remember the original "sleaze" thread on another board where this rumor originated. And I'm pretty sure it didn't say anything about Stephanie's age or her virginity, just that Randy Savage slept with her sometime before he left the WWF in 1994. And since Vince considered him a friend, he felt betrayed that Savage slept with his daughter. And he didn't find out until long after Randy left for WCW.
The rumor grew as the original thread died and and people added crap to it, like the whole "she was only 14" part.
And I had a friend who was being trained to wrestle by Mr. Hughes in Georgia at the time, and Hughes told him a few sleazy stories to post in that thread. So it's not like no one from the industry participated. I tend to believe it.

Randy Savage would neither have a DVD released in his honor or be featured in the first Smackdown magazine if this was true. He would be treated like Nailz or Dr. D. Not to mention there were rumors in late 1998 that Savage would sign back with the WWF.

I don't think it ever happened Vince has just always been bitter the way Savage left and took the Slim Jim franchise with him
