If it happened Savage would been in jail for it had it been the age of forteen. I think it was more the Slim Jim deal. Which I don't see why now it a big deal since Slim Jim did sponsored WM this year. I get it was back then but now days?
Vince is about money. Savage is a guy fans want to spend money on. They want action figures. They wanted the DVD which we got. They want him to be honored in the Hall of Fame.

Hogan sounds like a tool.
He didnt even know how many years Raw was on the air when he came back for it.
Also, he didnt explain why he said NEVER SAY NEVER OOOO YEAAAAAH, yet he sounds surprised when the guy brings up the Savage-Steph rumor.
Everyone acts like it is the first time they ever heard it.

I really wish I remember who started the Slim Jim theory here. I just remember it was in one of these threads and someone said "I bet Vince was more mad about the Slim Jim sponsorship going to WCW than anything". Never heard it before. Then since that time... I've heard it a lot more places.

The issue doesn't seem to be whether or not it's true. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. It's whether Vince thinks it's true, and people in that company believe he believes it.
I can see a situation where he heard the story, asked Stephanie and she denied it. She was telling the truth, but Vince was so paranoid and crazy he believed it anyway.
On a related note: I remember one interview with a former writer with WWE, and they were casually talking about HOF names in a meeting. Not knowing the story, he suggested Savage. And there was total silence in the room for a while. There is something going on there, and Savage has done something to piss off Vince. Although, again, whether it's just Vince believes an untrue rumour I don't know.

Do we even know that Vince believed there was such a rumor when he "blacklisted" Savage or is this just an internet rumor that got out of hand. Zach Braff and Jon Heder are alive, you know.

I think it's more likely that Vince and Macho are both really stubborn and neither will concede to the others wishes on general principle and that angers Vince because he's a control freak, so he pseudo-blacklists Macho, but Macho saved his money wisely, so he really doesn't care as his legacy is set, and he doesn't have to bend over for Vince out of need for money.
Though, isn't at least a little more believable that Macho snapped his Slim Jim with Linda? Or Vince hit on Elizabeth or something?

The Randy/Stephanie Rumor: Proof that wrestling fans ARE as dumb as they look. I mean, come on! True. I don't believe it, it was the Slim Jim sponsorship and probably Elizabeth. Maybe even his heat with Hogan, who knows. And I don't believe Randy punched out Hogan before Mania 9. I do believe the parasailing accident story. For ONCE, I believe Hogan here.

The Randy/Stephanie Rumor: Proof that wrestling fans ARE as dumb as they look. I mean, come on! Very sad, but also very true. Randy Savage would neither have a DVD released in his honor or be featured in the first Smackdown magazine if this was true. He would be treated like Nailz or Dr. D. Not to mention there were rumors in late 1998 that Savage would sign back with the WWF. What the majority of the wrestling fans seem to forget, or they're too busy following The Word of the Lo... I mean Meltz, and the Bi... I mean the Wrestling Observer. That, and any WWE publication is the equivalent of Fox News.

The guy who started that rumour on that board must be laughing to himself everytime he hears this.
Seems like such an obvious myth to me but people want to believe in it because it's funny.

I remember seeing a WCW based EWR diary where someone made Dave Meltzer lead commentator. Just about made my head explode. Meltzer is, well, Meltzer. To be nice.

I still think there is no conspiracy keeping Savage from being used more and it's more a matter of Savage not wanting anything to do with wrestling that limits what the WWE can do with his work. He saved his money and he can get work outside of wrestling so he's busy living his retirement from the ring, he doesn't need the 'E and right now, the 'E doesn't need him either so he's getting the same treatment as Goldberg, Bruno or Brock or that Bret Hart got for most of the previous decade.
Most of the people he worked with are either dead or on the outs with the WWE so they'd struggle to create new content for DVD's on him without his co-operation. They can't interview his friends (Crush) or former managers (Sherri, Elizabeth) as they're dead and most of the people he had high profile feuds with (Hogan, Flair, Warrior) are on the outs with the WWE, so without his co-operation they'd have to fill a DVD documentary with just Gene Oakerlund and Ricky Steamboat talking about him, which would be rather underwhelming.

Considering people who have worked for the company have said there are "major" problems with Savage, I do think there is something going on. Vince made up with guys who have testified in court against him, assaulted him and trashed him to the press....no way is he angry at Savage "just because."
For the record, Savage's own brother Lanny was asked about the rumour, and even he said he was too scared to ask his brother and assumed it was true. Gorgeous George has also claimed Savage has a thing for younger women (he wanted to "involve" her barely legal teenage sister in their relationship). Brooke Hogan claimed he tried it on as well.
Not that I'm saying it's true. But it's not nearly as far fetched as people would assume.

Savage is well-known to be VERY overprotective of women (you know, Savage ordering Elizabeth to stay in her dressing room until match time). Vince McMahon even made a slight reference to it in one of Savage's matches in the late 80s. Many in WWE believe it's true, and of course... Oliver knows. If it's Oliver Stone, this'll make a great movie, which would be done, JFK-style, with Meltzer in the Jim Garrison role, Savage in the Lee Harvey Oswald role, Stephanie in the JFK role, and Hulk Hogan in the Jack Ruby role.

In every Randy Savage shoot I have heard he has said he would LOVE to come back to the WWE for a farewell one last time. It is ALL on Vince.

I find it odd that Savage is in the PWHF in Amsterdam, NY, (any TRUE wrestling fan should go to it by the way) and even attending the ceremony to accept his honour but he isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame.
