I hope its a work! If it is, it is already over. But its not, so we weep. For Bryan Danielson has twittered. And we are still incomplete.

I had no idea he was the equivalent of 100 Hulk Hogans, 200 Ric Flairs, 500 Stone Colds, 1000 Rocks, and 2000 Bret Harts all combined. From what I saw of him, he was a small, but fairly technically adept wrestler. I liked him and all, but felt he needed more time to blossom into a potential main eventer. I was kinda surprised, but not that shocked, at his release. And yes, I heard all about his major indy successes, and he deserves respect for that, but up until now, he was just an aspiring WWE lower-midcarder to me who showed promise but never really got that far. I don't feel the shock at all. I'm even a small-scale ROH and TNA fan, and have been exposed to my fair share of non-WWE wrestling. I hope he does well, and maybe could return to WWE or even succeed in TNA, but consider me befuddled about the current atmosphere following his WWE release. He's the Fedor of pro wrestling.

In regards to Meltz's update...he's basically admitting that he thinks it's real, but there are instances where similar things have happened and it wound up being kayfabe. Well, no duh! $10 a month.

Maybe "the Network" called for Bryan's firing.

I heard he was told about it only at 4pm on Friday - he apparently had one hour to leave the building.

I would say some people are overreacting, but I know there were people similar to me who tuned in to see what they were going to do with danielson specifically and this sort of sucks all the fun out of WWE for us for the moment.
the good thing for me (and it's clear others disagree) as this doesn't signal WWE making a huge mistake regarding talent as much as WWE getting pressured somewhere. even if it was marketing pressures that vince felt were there to make a PG show... point is I'm happier thinking of this as a business move than a 'he's not talented enough' move.
I may be alone in that.

Assuming everything here is as presented, it's not a firing for want of talent, but because of pressure from outside sources. That, in and of itself is not good, but it's far better than it could have been.

Who's going to doubt the word of Leonard F. Chikarason...he's as straight of an arrow as a straight arrow. Lenny Leonard, not Leonard F. Chikarason Lenny Leonard: Commentator extraordinaire Leonard F. Chikarason: Bearded Appalachian who has been reduced to ticket collector and message board administrator by a bunch of dirty stinkin commies YOU'RE reduced to ticket collector and message board administrator by a bunch of dirty stinkin commies! Sorry 'bout the error. For some reason, I thought they were one and the same. They both got beards, after all.

This REALLY worries me if true... If this was coming from anyone else other than Meltzer, I would agree with you. Meltzer killed him credibility with me this weekend. As far as I'm concerned, Dave is somewhere near Daniel Pena. He made an already confusing situation much, much worse.

If this is true, he deserves to be fired, possibly made a dumb mistake if that is true, Daniel Bryan screwed Daniel Bryan. Also if true you'd think they wouldn't travel which such footage in a trailer and instead keep it in the vaults at titan tower. That's what makes it so unbelievable. Oily Rags + Orton = LULZ story. Again, when you do not see the never released video footage of Vince's dad and grandfather at the next MSG show, you'll know it's real. Damn real.

If you think this is a work, you're giving the WWE far too much credit. They have blown every single opportunity they've had for a solid decade. This is no different. If it's real, it's par for course. If it's a work, they get points for originality but they will kill it before too long. WWE has a track record a mile long of golden opportunities completely wasted because everyone in charge has no idea what they are doing. This can only end badly, and that's not being pessimistic, it's a judgement based on past actions.

So you're saying this is all an elaborate frame-up by Kurt Angle and that this was a way for TNA to ruin a potentially huge storyline by the 'E just in time to disgust WWE fans and get them to tune into Slammiversary.

I may be alone in that. A business move, especially one brought on by outside forces, is more disconcerting than a "not talented enough" move. That could have a wider effect on the WWE in general, especially if that weird hinting at more insane issues than the Danielson one exists.
