Like RVD, he's a unique character in the world of overly macho musclebound douches. How many vegan, anti-consumerism radical technical wrestling powerhouses do you see in the WWE? Well, I guess since last night the answer is zero. Well, when one opportunity closes, another opens up. With his newfound fashion savvy, he could start doing ads for the Men's Warehouse. "I'm Brian Danielson. You're going to like the way you look." "I guarantee it."

I get more of an RVD vibe from CM Punk, what with the martial arts background and him being a guy who can pull off either a straight wrestling match or a hardcore brawl. Then again, I've seen a lot more from Punk.

Could somebody please tell me what the f*** the big deal is about this guy? Other than his workrate? In short, he's a professional wrestler in a world crowded with sports entertainers. He's talented and different, which makes him special. I answered your question, so now maybe you can answer mine. Why do some people seem to get so nasty towards the support of a particular wrestler?

Could somebody please tell me what the f*** the big deal is about this guy? Other than his workrate? The thrill of being aware of someone or something obscure enough that the "casual" fans have never heard of it, which we can then elevate onto a pedestal and claim is better than all the "popular" alternatives marketed towards mass consumption, as a way of demonstrating our superior knowledge and refined tastes in regards to the product. It's a phenomenom that crops up within critics of any medium. In wrestling specifically, I'd also link it to the similarly-obsessive fandom for CM Punk, and the '90s ECW in general.

American Dragon is someone I have been watching it seems his whole career. To see him rise to the caliber to which he has and then to suddenly fall with no grace is most upsetting. I just can't get over the fact that they maybe working us and there is only one person that knows this for sure and Vince isn't gonna jump on here and tell us regretfully. I feel like a national disaster just happened and then when you feel that way then you know its times like these that bring us wrestling fans together.

Iv never seen the board go so crazy.

Could somebody please tell me what the f*** the big deal is about this guy? Other than his workrate? I don't get it either. He's small, bland, an ok talker and a great worker. People are falling all over themselves saying how amazing he is, but I see the next Dean Malenko. Not that Malenko's bad, but he's not a huge star or somebody to build a promotion around.

Or maybe it's because Danielson is a legit talent and people want to see him. The things he's done in the past month or so have been the best part of the WWE lately. It's not the same thing as some indy hipster saying a certain band is the best but "you've never heard of them" and then the band turns out to suck. I can see your argument working if it was a shitty indy wrestler that everyone was all excited about but it isn't. Also CM Punk and 90's ECW are/were awesome as well.

Yeah we really don't give a f*** Nor do we give a s*** so long as its self-censored As for my 2 cents on the situation, even as someone who doesn't watch the product although I did watch the nxt invasion online If its legit and the guy is as good as everyone says (Something I can't confirm or deny) then it is a loss for the WWE and in my opinion a silly/harsh thing to be fired over (I'm working on the assumption he didn't know or had simply forgotten the rule existed, lord knows I wasn't aware or it but I'm not an employee so......but still I presume he had forgotten) As for Bryan himself, he earned a living before the E came along, he'll earn a living after

It still seems really weird to fire him for choking Roberts with his tie. I'm not a Danielson mark by any means (although I've loved the Cole feud thus far), but the sponsors have other people they could have gone after. I mean, Christian and, if I'm not mistaken, Jericho both have moves where they use the ropes to choke their opponent. And Orton does the slingshot that drives his opponents throat first into the bottom rope... and while, yes, these all include having ring ropes, it's not hard to picture kids stupid enough to do this at home using tables or something else to simulate it.
And really, that they have the "Kids, don't do any of this at home!" campaign and a stink was still raised about the choking (by whom, who knows) says a lot about how ineffective the campaign actually is. Do I think it's a work? Nah, not at all. I'm pretty sure it's a legit firing, but he'll be back once the heat dies down. But... man, I'm wondering how they edit Danielson out of it, considering he's pretty visible in most of the video, IIRC.

The big deal about Danielson for me is twofold. First, when I'm watching him, I feel like I'm watching someone real, not an actor. His wrestling feels real, his passion feels real. He's like Bret Hart in that way, for me, except I prefer his personality and mic work to Bret's. That realism so unusual in this day and age, and imo, it's something to be held onto tightly when you find it. Secondly, his release telegraphs how WWE intends to treat the angle and the fans going forward, and it's not good news at all. Not surprising, not incomprehensible, but bad news just the same.
