I don't get the racism allegations.... I mean beak it down. How many black guys have been in the WWF/E that were main event level and over? Vince puts the belt on who will draw. I will admit, at one point I thought Ahmed Johnson had a chance, but being injury prone fixed that. After the Triple H/Booker T fiasco, how can you not at least wonder if there's a bit of racism there? They literally had Triple H cut a racist promo against Booker T, then kill off all his momentum at WrestleMania. well, if it was a racist promo let's recall that Triple H was a heel, trying to get heat and is married to the boss' daughter so he probabaly has a lot of leeway in makign his promos. But honestly I've always thought the Booker thing where Hunter said "poeple like you" was a shot at WCW, with Hunter basically calling him a minor league champion.

None of them, the Rock was the first. Sorry, I don't really accept that it doesn't count because he also has Samoan heritage. ok.but still, the rock was black? i consider somebody black, when he has black skin. You do realize that his father is black, right? That makes The Rock black.

Yeah but he is Samoan American. Not African American. Rock? He's a mix of both. His father was African Canadian (or Black Canadian whichever you prefer), and his mother was Samoan. Therefore I declare he is African Canadian Samoan......

They literally had Triple H cut a racist promo against Booker T, then kill off all his momentum at WrestleMania. The most plausible story I've heard about this was Booker was initially penciled in to win at WM, then Goldberg was signed right before. At that point the booking team decided to keep the belt on Triple H, w/ Goldberg to feud with him for it. If that's the case, it's a smart move. Having Goldberg come in and take on a strong champion in Triple H would be a bigger money feud then against the new champion, Booker T.

As others have said, The Rock's been there and done that already.
Also I find these allegations of The Rock not being black (or "black enough") be completely ridiculous. Tiger Woods is considered a black golfing great despite his Asian heritage. Barack Obama is considered the first black president despite his being half-white. Why can't The Rock not be the first black WWE Champion even though his mother was Samoan?

I agree with the idea about Zeke. He could easily be seen as a credible champion if the WWE wants him to be. What they should do is continue the feud with Ziggler, Kaitlyn, and Vickie. Ziggler turns face and dumps Vickie, then have Vickie start managing Zeke. Within a few months he could be the biggest heel on Smackdown. Gotta have Zeke or the WWE title switch brands again else this will lead to World Heavyweight Championship. I'm hoping Kofi will win the top prize someday.

So does a wrestler has to be Ron Killings black in order for it to count? You understand unless someone's parents came directly from Africa and their ancestors never mixed races, you are not 100% black. I consider myself black even though I have Irish and Choctaw blood in me. I bet a good number of people posting are not purebreed whatever. Only people who would fit into the pure black mode would be Kofi and Zeke since they are from Africa. But I rather someone win the belt because they earned it instead of filling a quota.

Ric Flair cut the same type of promos when he was feuding with someone black;ex. Butch Reed, Skip Young, Rocky King, JYD. Harley Race did the same thing to Ron Simmons when he was feuding with Vader.

Not sure about the US but in the UK the term for someone who has a black and white parent is mixed race

This reminds me of that one Seinfeld episode where Elaine was dating this guy, and she thought he was black, while he thought she was hispanic. Elaine discusses it with George, and he says, "I don't think we should be talking about this". But yeah, I count the Rock. They played up his Samoan heritage, yes, but they also didn't make it a secret he was the son of Rocky Johnson. I believe I heard in an interview that Rock considers himself fully both, rather than half of anything. As for the *next* one, I'd really like to see it be R-Truth, but he has a ways to go. I don't see any of the guys on that list winning it imminently. Kofi's probably closest. Give him two years, maybe.

Although The Rock was the first, I'd say the NEXT possible black WWE Champion will be... The Pope (if he ever returns).

Thats a pretty goofy way to view a persons racial heritage friend. Pictured a "not black man". If people are going to make technicalities about a persons race because they have other races in their blood line as well, then chances are we've never had a "white" "black" "red" "yellow" or any other color champion before. The world is a small place and only getting smaller. There are very few places left in the westernized world where you are going to find people without at lest some form of mix heritage no matter what their skin color may be. No white world champions? It's a shameful thing... Sheamus is Irish. That's almost white.

Dude's just as black as them.
