So does a wrestler has to be Ron Killings black in order for it to count? You understand unless someone's parents came directly from Africa and their ancestors never mixed races, you are not 100% black. I consider myself black even though I have Irish and Choctaw blood in me. I bet a good number of people posting are not purebreed whatever. Only people who would fit into the pure black mode would be Kofi and Zeke since they are from Africa. But I rather someone win the belt because they earned it instead of filling a quota. Directly from Africa, like Justin Gabriel? Anyway, I personally am Scottish, mostly, with a little bit of Irish in me. Both my parents are Scottish, and I think there's some Irish when you get up a little further on my family tree. And, I'm from a very Scottish area anyway, New Scotland if you will.

Not sure about the US but in the UK the term for someone who has a black and white parent is mixed race This is true, and it should apply to this. The Rock should be considered a mixed race champion. Anyway, Booker T won the WHC, so really, he is the first black WWE Champion.

Because The Rock was considered a samoan. David Otunga and MVP, despite having white parents aren't considered "white." However, with a black father it is perfectly fine to consider Rock to be the first black WWE champion. You appear to be focussing on his mother's side, and forgetting about his father's side.

"Screw heritage, it's all about what random people think you are" Seriously, it doesn't matter. Dude's just as black as them. Hardly. The Rock is a mixed race Samoan American. MVP and Otunga are mixed race AFRICAN americans. I'm not sure where this is going. The Rock is a Samoan wrestler, going by that logic John Cena is the first Italian WWE Champ. It's hardly the same.

Based on logic and career history alone, it was a toss up between R-truth and Kofi.

Honestly I think these racist claims are nonsense. Vince'd put the belt on a convicted murderer if he thought it'd draw money.

ok.but still, the rock was black? i consider somebody black, when he has black skin. You do realize that his father is black, right? That makes The Rock black. It only counts if its your mother. Wait, that's being Jewish.

The Rock was born in America. As were MVP and Otunga. They're Americans. I'm not really how you're getting that Rock isn't black. You're confusing ethnicity with skin color.

As for the second guy, I think R-Truth could be, but they need a complete overhaul of his character. The rapping stuff has got to go. The dancing, all that stuff, it all has to go. I think Truth is someone who can talk a good talk, he can wrestle. I see Truth as a heel though when I see all this. Something like his Ron "The Truth" Killings character in TNA?

As others have said it's The Rock. If it's not him it's Booker. Really saying "He won the WHC so he doesn't count" is a cop out. It's still a WWE world title.

Re: Black Versus Half Black: Okay, fair enough. In countries where a significant mixed race population exists, such as Brazil, the Mulatto population occupies a higher social strata than the black population, and that physical appearence plays a role in this. There is significant evidence to argue, that white people will accept black people who look like them, and are less accepting of people who don't. Fine, it's a valid enough argument. But in this situation, Half-Samoan means squat. First of all, Samoans occupy no place of power or privillege. Two, The Rock's skin color is well within the norm for an African American. Three, this is professional wrestling. What you are actually saying is "Let us celerbrate the first successfully marketed worker with four black grandparents." It doesn't make any sense as a standerd.

FINE. First WWE champion with black skin. There. As a 19 year old young black male, that sounds ignorant.
