I probably shouldn't even step into this minefield, but...
Of course the Rock is black. How on earth can this be disputed? WHY would this be disputed? I assume it's used by people who want to say there's never been a black WWF/E champion as ammunition to bolster the argument that WWE is racist, but really, there's plenty of other, far more logical and valid arguments pointing to how racist the company can be.
I don't think anyone is going to seriously dispute that black wrestlers are frequently pigeonholed into stereotypical roles and may have a tougher time advancing in the company compared to white wrestlers, but it also can't be disputed that there are black wrestlers whom WWE has gotten behind and pushed (and, like wrestlers of all races and creeds whom WWE seriously wants to push, they often tend to be big, talentless hosses, like Ahmed Johnson and Bobby Lashley), and to say that Rock "doesn't count" because he managed to rise above that is absurd, and rather offensive in of itself.
It's all a matter of what Vince thinks will draw. Latinos were riding lawnmowers to the ring until WWE realized what a sizable portion of their audience that ethnicity comprised. Asians, who make up a much smaller demographic in the US, still get by far the shittiest, most offensive treatment imaginable in WWE, which is particularly blatant considering how many immensely gifted Japanese wrestlers there are out there.

Rock already did it, but the next one to do it I'm guessing will be Kofi. He's only been wrestling for five years and already plenty deserving, so his time will come.

Lashley wasn't exactly untalented (as he was actually capable of throwing out some decent amateur-style moves when he first showed up), he just couldn't talk for crap (which is the same reason Japanese wrestlers don't get massive pushes). It didn't help that for various reasons, his heart ultimately wasn't in it (leaving WWE for Krystal, leaving TNA for MMA). 2. Speaking of Asian wrestlers, Tajiri got treated fairly well all in all, and The Great Khali (yes, India is considered part of Asia) was handed the WHC. 3. I swear to god, I thought we (as a whole) were DONE with this argument. I really did.

I don't watch WWE much these days but I look at ezekial jackson and his unique look and personality make me view him as a hybrid of Goldberg/Monty brown and Ron Simmons

Hardly. The Rock is a mixed race Samoan American. MVP and Otunga are mixed race AFRICAN americans. I'm not sure where this is going. The Rock is a Samoan wrestler, going by that logic John Cena is the first Italian WWE Champ. It's hardly the same. Except THAT was Bruno Sammartino. ...seriously, why's this thread still going? Unintentional comedy?

Technically, Rex Ingram was the first black God, having played "De Lawd" in the "Green Pastures" (1936). Do your research first.

"Screw heritage, it's all about what random people think you are" Seriously, it doesn't matter. Dude's just as black as them. Hardly. The Rock is a mixed race Samoan American. MVP and Otunga are mixed race AFRICAN americans. I'm not sure where this is going. The Rock is a Samoan wrestler, going by that logic John Cena is the first Italian WWE Champ. It's hardly the same. Yeah... I really don't get what you're getting at with it, or why you seem to think that one guy gets to be called black because he has one black parent and one white parent, and another doesn't because he has one black parent and one pacific islander parent. If you wanted to talk specifically about what continent they were born on or lived in, fine, the list would consist of Kofi Kingston, Ezekiel Jackson and Justin Gabriel, as they are all from the African continent. Otunga's from Chicago, and R-Truth was born in Georgia. But as far as "his mom is Samoan so he doesn't count as black," race doesn't work that way. One doesn't cancel the other out. It is, however, hardly the same from from considering Cena an Italian champ. That's because "Black" isn't a country, but a skin-tone, and a very broad one that is represented by more than just Africans.

So does a wrestler has to be Ron Killings black in order for it to count? You understand unless someone's parents came directly from Africa and their ancestors never mixed races, you are not 100% black. I consider myself black even though I have Irish and Choctaw blood in me. I bet a good number of people posting are not purebreed whatever. Only people who would fit into the pure black mode would be Kofi and Zeke since they are from Africa. But I rather someone win the belt because they earned it instead of filling a quota. For the record, I'd just like to say that I am 100% Kenyan

None of them, the Rock was the first. Sorry, I don't really accept that it doesn't count because he also has Samoan heritage. ok.but still, the rock was black? i consider somebody black, when he has black skin. This just reminds me of the infamous Layla action figure.
