Sent mate's site a full review to post, but in short...
Worst. Comic-Book movie. Ever.
I wish that was hyperbole. It's not. The film defies belief in how bad it is. Nadir has to be Seth Rogen playing the most unlikeable superhero of all time. Again, wish I was joking. But I'm not. I paid £13 for okay 3D imagery and Seth Rogen alternating between 's***' 'awesome' and repetitions of 'balls deep' dialogue.
ETA - And yes, I've seen the Corman Fantastic Four, the 1970s Captain America, and Kick-Ass. It's worse than all of them.

Gee, but the commercials made it look soooo funny. (The wasn't directed at any Crapper, but at the people who made this movie)

Then the "it's worse than" works on two levels. For you, it's worse than a good film. For me, it's worse than a terrible film. Either way, the statement is accurate!

Didn't the radio show come before the comic book? For that matter, the tv show may have come before the comic book. Not that any of this would change your opinion of the movie. I was just curious about that.
Edit: Just checked for myself. The radio show and the tv show were both around before the comics. Again,I was just wondering about that since I saw the commercials and never bothered to look. Carry on with your discussion.

I was just curious about that. You're probably right. But I don't like to beat up on the radio. It's still selling death by video!

Just want to make sure I've got this straight: It's Jay Chou as Kato...not John Cho?

I generally like Rogen, but this just looks really bad.

I just saw it and I really liked it.
Rogen's character is an ass, but that's kind of the point. He doesn't do a whole lot but thinks he's the s***, while his sidekick (partner!) is really the one kicking all the ass and being awesome.
While it doesn't need to be in 3D and feels like a ripoff in that department, I really enjoyed the movie and was taken aback at how funny it actually was. Remember, this movie is mainly a comedy with action thrown in for plot and explosions.
Beyond all that, its not the worst comic book movie ever. Unlike Fantastic Four or Ghostrider, this at least entertained me.

For those who care, here's my review. Green HornetYes, it has heavy spoilers. Yes, it's brutal. No, I don't think it's too harsh. No, I'm not against the idea of superhero comedies. Just against them being utterly juvenile and starring an atrocious actor.

I don't remember Green Hornet ever being a comic relief character like Seth Rogen is making him.

Michel Gondry doesn't make bad movies. Ball's in your court, Joker Winston.

Green Hornet is this decade's Batman & Robin.
But even worse. At least Batman & Robin had bad puns. Green Hornet just has Seth Rogen seeing how many times he can say 'balls deep' in a superhero film. And yes, it's worse than Be Kind, Rewind. Seth Rogen makes John Cena look like Denzel Washington!

Its not even remotely close to Batman and Robin territory, if only because very few people even know who the Green Hornet character is. Hell, I think most people that do know about it is because a young Bruce Lee played Kato in the old TV show. Batman and Robin was so bad because it was Batman they were ruining. He's right up there with Superman, Wolverine, and Spiderman as the most popular superheroes ever. It physically hurt people to see that character in a movie as bad as Batman and Robin. Now whether you enjoyed Green Hornet or not, that's your personal opinion, but it is simply no where near as bad as Batman and Robin.

It's so much worse.
The decay from Burton to Schumacher was gradual. If you look at the films again, there's a logical shift from seriousness to outright goofiness. Not to mention how, back then, comic-books weren't a genre so much as a film once in a while that came out and didn't get a critically acclaimed response.
Flash forward to today.
We're in the era of The Dark Knight, of Iron Man, of X-Men II, of films that are critically and commercially acclaimed. This is the best time to be a comic-book fan in recent memory, a socially relevant acceptance of superheroes. People expect better nowadays, and they get this?
Green Hornet, no lie, has the potential to screw up all of the goodwill we've amassed since X-Men came out in 2000. If this film succeeds, we're going to be seeing an era of increasingly bad comic-book films with goofy characters and crude language that will finish the job that Batman & Robin started, even if they just didn't know better back then.
And Batman & Robin, for me, is so bad it's funny. Green Hornet is so bad that it could cause unrepairable damage to the comic-book genre - which scares me because we're so damn close to it actually meaning something!

Let's say Green Hornet does become a flop. How will that cause "unrepairable damage" to the comic-book genre. It'll probably just end of being a movie about a superhero that people didn't enjoy. Again, very few people know who Green Hornet is, so it really can't do a whole lot of damage to the genre as a whole. This is especially true when you consider that Thor, Green Lantern, the new X-Men movie, the new Spiderman movie, a new Nolan Batman movie, a new Superman movie, and a Captain America movie are all in the works for the next two years. It would take a hell of a lot to destroy the comic-book genre right now.
