Well if you give the same ME between two guys Bi Weekly on Raw through out the Summer. Have these same two guys feud on and off since 08. Why would fans give a crap about them to face again at Wrestlemania?
Yeah when nobody reacts to that. That mean new stuff people. That or they just want more Diesel.

The reason people aren't interested in Cena/Orton is not only because it's been done to death, but nothing ever changes when they feud. It's always Wholesome Superman Cena vs Sadistic Psycho Viper Orton.
At least when The Rock and Triple H feuded every other year back in the day, they had a different gimmick pretty much every time, and that helped make it seem fresh.

It was quite funny, you could tell they expected more. Cena turning round to the crowd at one point and on another pointing to the Mania sign, to no reaction. Ouch.
On the other hand, you can't level the accusation that the company doesn't produce new stars, because they do. Since Cena and Orton have history, and they'd both be in the match it's worth putting that spot in, but it is just funny it didn't work. Even HHH vs Cena in 08 got a pop in the Rumble, although Cena was making a big return.

From where I was sitting (nosebleed seats), it wasn't a "smark" thing. If that was the case, the people around me wouldn't have been going nuts for Hornswoggle and Cena. It was a "we don't care" thing. Half of us didn't even notice, and my personal reaction (when I actually noticed they were trying to make something of it) was "pfft."

Not as awkward as Eve crying her eyes out over winning the tramp stamp belt and getting no sort of reaction what-so-ever. The crowd would not even give her a sympathy cheer......COLD BLOODED! That was because (they may have edited this audio out on the broadcast), about 1/3 of the crowd was LOUDLY chanting "WE WANT KONG! WE WANT KONG!" But yeah, her victory got absolutely no pop whatsoever.

Eh, it was pretty similar down on the floor in smarkland + rich familyland. I think we're reading way too much into it. How my friends and I read the whole sign pointing thing was less "we're gonna meet up at WM" but more... "Look, we're sort of friends now, but whoever wins *this* gets to go headline *there*. So friends or not, we need to fight each other right now." That's all.

This was kind of a cringe-worthy moment for me. i loved it. BOTH times. like others i was also laughing. and clapping at the crowd finally sending a good message. not that they'll be heard, but we'll see.

(channels Matt Striker) "to your point" watch it again and watch the dude in the front row stop in mid clap when Eve's music plays. he spreads his arms, her music hits, he stands there arms spread and with this "wtf" look on his face. i was doing the same thing minus the mid air clap. waste of a moment.

I thought it was a great moment. Hopefully this will be the sign that shows the WWE we don't want to watch Cena vs Orton anymore but somehow I doubt it will be.

It's kind of sad because Rock/Austin staredowns probably would have gotten reactions no matter how many times they did 'em.

It always makes me laugh when I put in the original Smackdown Vs Raw. Released in 2004, and the opening video starts with a staredown between Cena and Orton. It's been 7 years, and they still think it's impressive.

To be fair, wasn't that the third time they did that spot last night? Cena/Punk, Cena/Kofi, and Cena/Orton?

In defense of the crowd, there was ZERO emotion in it. Neither of them gave any reason to care, other than "oh hey, we're both in the Rumble together, isn't that swell?". Compare it to the Cena/Punk staredown. The crowd went apes*** for that. Not to sound like a smark or anything, but I think it should say something when this doesn't get a reaction but Punk/Bryan get dueling chants and even William Regal gets a chant! But with all bias aside (I can stand Cena but hate Orton, BTW), I think this should prove to the Creative staff that Cena/Orton has been done to death and shouldn't be done anymore. Except that they haven't had a Cena/Orton match in over a year. And again, WWE does not care if that got a reaction in a battle royal since they aren't going to be facing off anytime soon.

I know they have faced at least once and I think more than once, in the past year, I remember seeing that slightly botched AA into an RKO through the table spot in a match on Raw.

Seven years? Good God.
Hulk Hogan went from being the dominant, long reigning WWF Champion to having his Wrestlemania VIII "retirement" angle in the span of seven years back in the day.
Today it's a little tough to tell the difference between now and seven years ago.
