Remember during the first Diva Search when they had the divas "cut promos" on each other and apparently didn't inform them first about taste and/or discretion? Calling each other "cum guzzler" and accusing each other of "having a dick in her mouth" was so sleazy and out of place in wrestling and I feel terrible for any parents who brought their kids that night. I want to expand and say most the Diva Search was built around sleaze especially the first year. They had to seduce someone. Then there was the pie eating contest, pie-eating obviously being a double entendre. It was during this contest that Christy sat in the pie saying her butt was hungry. Someone deep-throated a can of Whip cream. The Diss-the-Diva part though was about as low as it got. Several others have mentioned what all was said, mainly toward Camela, so I am not going to mention them again.

Vince v Steph No Mercy 03. I'llbe fair to say that the stroy was well told, but the idea of a father wrestling his daughter because she wasn't as ruthless as him. P.S. Taz and especially Cole help told the story. Was that the feud where Stephanie revealed that Vince use to pimp her out to business partners? If so, thanks for reminding me (and bringing back the nightmares). This was when Steph was Smackdown's GM. She didn't want to be as evil and cruel as her dad. He could have fired her, but he wanted to make Steph hurt.

Am I the only one that is absolutely stunned that some people are including "fat jokes" among the worst moments the WWE has ever produced. Stephanie trying to draw parallels between her father's legal troubles and 9/11 is getting all kinds of flack, but that pales in comparison to the stretch required to compare Eddiesploitation to a fat joke. Come on.. Katie Vick, extreme levels of vulgarity and sexual explicitness, scenes of explicit torture, an elderly woman giving birth to a sex aid.. and oh noes, someone called a slightly overweight woman 'fat'.
For anyone who thinks I don't get it, I propose an experiment. You get to do to me what Trish did to Molly, then I get to do to you what Kane did to Shane McMahon, and then we'll see if you still think the two are even in the same universe.

I'm not sure I've ever understood the hatred for Rey over the Eddie thing. I still don't see it as "using Eddie's death to get over." That implies that Rey found out one of his best friends was dead, and his first thought was "This will make me a world champion!" I think he probably wanted to dedicate his performance over the next year to his friend, and the writers certainly took it and made it the center of the story. But I don't see how anyone could think the people involved were looking at it purely as a way to get Rey into a title position.

Probably depends on how much one feels the dead should be revered versus actively remembered -- in our age of political correctness, we've tended to forget that offense is something that varies from person to person, not an absolute attribute assigned to something by some "authority".

Rey Mysterio got a big career boost due to Eddie Guerrero's death, but for me to hate him because of it I'd have to imagine him in meetings snidely convincing people he ought to be winning a match because of a recently-deceased friend and colleague. I can't imagine that ever having happened.

The worst thing about the fat jokes is that it sends a message to the viewers that this kind of stuff is ok.

In reference to Molly (and Mickie)...neither were overweight during those angles. It's not the sleaziest things they've done by far (although mocking Molly's real life virginity status was low), but in very bad taste.

Yes, you probably are the only one who is "absolutely stunned". Dude, calm down. What makes you think I need to "calm down"? Just because I find some statements to be such a stretch of logic as to be impossible to comprehend, or that I'm willing to take the time to expose their underlying self-contradictory nature, does not imply a level of hysteria in my comments such that I'd need to "calm down". "Absolutely stunned" means just what it says. I tried to wrap my head around it, I drew a complete blank. The worst thing about the fat jokes is that it sends a message to the viewers that this kind of stuff is ok. Why does that message only apply to fat jokes, and not the hundreds of other things that happen during a show, all of them far worse than a pedestrian insult? Does pro wrestling send the message that beating people up in a back alley is okay? Was the PTC really right all these years? In reference to Molly (and Mickie)...neither were overweight during those angles. It's not the sleaziest things they've done by far (although mocking Molly's real life virginity status was low), but in very bad taste. In respect to Vickie, she was certainly overweight at the time in question, but that's neither here nor there. And with respect to Mark Henry and the Big Show, who have also been the butt of fat jokes, they were substantially overweight. But that's also neither here nor there. The "-est" in "sleaziest" suggests we are talking about the worst of the worst. If it's ridiculous for Stephanie to compare "McMahon Legal Issues" with "9/11", it's ridiculous to compare "fat joke" to "electrocuting someone's testicles".

The worst thing about the fat jokes is that it sends a message to the viewers that this kind of stuff is ok. The Molly Holly stuff did, since Trish was meant to be the virtuous face and Molly the uptight evil heel. As said, King and JR (who I think got carried away trying to one-up King's jokes) make it a lot worse, but I really disliked the whole situation At least with the McCool-Mickie 'Piggie James' stuff, unfortunately usually glossed over, McCool was meant to be the snobby bitch that we'd hate for saying stuff like that. And judging from the Rumble pop when she lost, it worked to that extent. The Diva Search stuff, as said, particularly the early stuff, was excrutiating tacky, sleazy and just plain bad. Just pure 'get this off my tv' stuff. I'd certainly dump Katie Vick into that as well. Badly hurt Kane's momentum at the time and even he had a hard time trying to convince with it, and didn't really.

The worst thing about the fat jokes is that it sends a message to the viewers that this kind of stuff is ok. To the stupid ones anyway. And by that I mean the parents who won't teach their kids that its not ok to harass people needlessly. Whether its about being fat or not. In fact, there are tons of worse things you can harass people about besides being fat.

About the first Diva Search, why was Carmela so disliked? Was it based on anything that happened for real? Maria alluded to this in one of her interviews. What I did watch of the Diva Search was sleazy and had zero to do with wrestling. I don't mind T&A, but when it is sleazy and it is done too much too often, that is when it becomes demeaning to me.

The Molly Holly stuff did, since Trish was meant to be the virtuous face and Molly the uptight evil heel. By that definition, the WWE shows it's acceptable for five grown men to beat the crap out of a senior citizen with folding chairs for a good 15 minutes, as what happened with the virtuous face Hart Family and the evil Vince McMahon. By that definition, the WWE shows it's acceptable to sexually assault someone, as has been done the countless times the virtuous face has forced a kiss on a heel valet. Or was done when the virtuous face Goldust would skeeve out Razor Ramon with all the fondling, etc. And so forth. Even going by your definition of "only what the faces do should be considered 'promoted as acceptable'", there are countless things that have been done in WWF/E history that far, far outstrip a fat joke.

You mean when he debuted as a heel, because he dressed flamboyantly and was ambiguously gay? Ah, hell, you got me there. My apologies for the error. I believe that leaves me with "hundreds, less one" in the "things faces do to heels that are worse than a fat joke". Incidentally, how would you categorize the sexualization of the crotch grab between Mickie James and Trish? Technically Trish was booked as the face, but the crowd was quite behind Mickie, it seems.

Everybody already mentioned Trish Stratus being made to bark like a dog, but what made it even more sleazy was Vince ordering Trish to strip naked afterward(he stopped it right when she was unhooking her bra, I believe).

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the E actually put an entire Diva search on DVD?
What is WRONG with these people?
