I never set up a game-breaking party in Suikoden V, just going on the characters I liked, but it usually ended up being pretty over-powering anyway - Prince, Miakis, Jeane, Viki, Hazuki, Isabel. Yeah, I like to run around with a harem. And pretty much any party with Miakis is going to be over-powered. She is awesome. I do like to throw in Belcoot, Lun, and Killey every now and then as well. The later Suikodens kind of spoiled me with how many extra slots there are for parties, it makes the first Suikoden forcing Viktor and Flik into your final party infuriating. Miakis is awesome. I think everybody that's played the game will agree. I loved Killey also. He might not be as good as he was in Suikoden II but look at him. Is his outfit not kicking rad? Lun is also an interesting case since she's in between her parents. Physically stronger then her mother but weaker then her father and magically it's inverted. However, she's such a versatile character that she's worth using. I liked Hazuki and she's certainly high up in regards to other warriors. However, she really has to rely on her evasion because her parry isn't great and she certainly can't take very many hits with her HP. As I said before; thanks to its massive cast, Suikoden 5 has plenty of viable characters unlike Suikoden 4 whose key party for the final boss is Kika, the Hero, Snowe and Ted. Nothing was a challenge with them afterwards. Killey is definitely a badass. He's a bit of an asshole, but I guess I would be too if I had Lorelai bothering me all the time. I mainly like Lun because she wields a giant harpoon, and that amuses me. She is a lot more useful than her parents to me, due to her being somewhat of a cross between the two. I think the SV cast is my favorite of the main series. There is a lot of characters I enjoy using and a lot of versatile characters to build any sort of party you want.

Not an RPG, but I just got my first ending on 999, the knife ending. Holy Christ. A swing and a miss! Square's just dangling the carrot now for FF7, 8, and 9. SE says they are doing it because it is the 10th anniversary of the game this year. Will it come out this year? Not that it makes the game any more/less necessary, mind. Also, guys, for Suikoden V Sorensen is the one true rad badass. He's so badass it's impossible to even type this with a straight face.

They didn't give any details beyond they are making it and that it will be on PS3 and Vita. So I'm guessing 2012. Also, regarding the FF series, FFXIII-2 drops in Japan in December.

Bah, FFXIII-2. A direct sequel to the worst game in the series. As unnecessary as the FFX remake, though no less sadly profitable. Pretty stoked for the new Fire Emblem for 3DS, even though I'm nowhere close whatsoever to getting one. Also so glad to see it's an original game, and they're done with remakes for now. That said, maybe Seisen no Keifu's next up for when they do get to the next remake? That'll be a good one.

Well, that's two more Final Fantasies I will not be getting. Actually, every future Final Fantasy is a game I won't be getting. FFXIII killed the series for me.

It's really sad that such a colossal bastion of suck came after one of the very best games in the series. I feel the same way you do, if they're going to keep taking the series in the direction it's going (and why wouldn't they? It sells!). They've even managed to shake my faith in Dragon Quest, and I thought that was totally unassailable. God dammit, Square Enix. *sigh*

The only thing that kept me playing was pure hatred and anger. Like if I quit playing, the game would have won, and I wasn't willing to accept that. Then the next game I played was 3D Dot Game Heroes and it was so glorious that not even FFXIII could bring me down.

I actually liked FF13. From a gameplay stand point, it was actually one of my favorites.
*dodges all incoming Firaga spells*

The two FF games that have my favorite gameplay are FF12 and Crisis Core. You know, the two with the least FF-like gameplay of them all.

I thought you just ran in the tube and occasionally stopped to hammer X and press L1 every few seconds. Kind of like Kingdom Hearts, only even more mindless.

Yeah, I knew about the sequel, but I didn't want to watch any trailers for fear of potential spoilers. If the Yoko Littner dressalike turns out to be Clover like Famitsu's hinted at (they said there's a "connection" if I remember right), I don't expect she'll be very happy at having to play yet another Nonary Game, hahaha. Also, I'm reading the "answers" section on the English 999 site and it says {Spoiler}that Junpei never catches up to Aoi and Akane and spends the rest of his life chasing after them. If that's true and not some kind of joke by the developer, then the happy and fuzzy true ending contains one of the most damn depressing parts of the whole game. That's soul-crushing right there.

Given one of the 999 endings, I would not want to be near Clover (if that is her) when she finds out. {Spoiler}Or at least as long as she doesn't have an axe in her hand. Junpei should have just stopped and picked up the ancient naked possibly immortal woman on the side of the road. She seemed like a lot more fun.
