I'm not sure I've even heard of Hugo Strange as a Batman villain before. To Google! Ooh, Wikipedia says that he's one of the first recurring Batman villains. Even before Joker and Catwoman. Well, that's like the first line on the page. I also like the idea that he uses his really high IQ as his weapon and is a master of psychology. So he could be a good fit into the Nolan universe. But who knows what the real story is about the third Batman movie. We'll all see in good time. Although, to be honest, I'd like to see Catwoman in it. But that's really just my own sad loneliness wanting to see a hot girl in leather.

I want Riddler, dammit! Can you imagine how awesome someone like Johnny Depp would be in that role?
Hugo Strange just wouldn't cut it as the final boss, imho.

I can't believe how so many of you guys aren't down on this idea. It is basically what a lot of you guys wanted. A non-combatant villain giving orders to a bruiser villain.
I mean HOW many posts did I see from you guys wanting a mob boss final villain using a big bruiser like Bane or Croc to beat up on Bats all film long?
This is pretty much more or less what you guys wanted, but with a twist. Instead of a mob boss, it is one of Batman's longest running villains, the incredibly smart Hugo Strange. If it is indeed using Prey as the basic framework for the story, they can easily make a bruiser like Bane or Croc be the person persuaded by Strange to go around causing chaos to lure out Batman.
So yeah, wow I'm amazed you guys aren't ecstatic, as this is more or less, at least in the type of story, that a good chunk of you guys actually wanted.
Plus, Hugo Strange has a bitching chin beard.

I'm with Koda on this one. Personally, I think it sounds like a great idea to use Strange, and i have total faith in Nolan after the first two movies. To suggests something like Johnny Depp is missing the point of the Nolan Batman movies.

You say that like he'd play it as Ed Wood or something. yeah like it would be Batman vs Captain Jack ...Which is just as bad, since Johnny Depp only has "wacky" mode. Except for Sweeney Todd, where he didn't act so much as "sit, scowl, stare, repeat". Surprisingly good singer, though.

I like the idea of Anne as Catwoman but not sure about Tom Hardy as Bane

Meh to Hathaway. Don't really care either way there. It'll probably be a good performance, but Catwoman's been done to death.
Tom Hardy...no clue who that is.
*Wikipedia's him*
Hm. You know, I enjoyed how Nolan for the most part stuck to established continuity while putting his own spin on it. I don't know if I'll be able to buy that guy as Bane, mostly because Bane is Latino.

I like the idea of Anne as Catwoman but not sure about Tom Hardy as Bane Hathaway is going to be a goddamn smoking Catwoman - see also, her ass in Get Smart. As for Tom Hardy.... yeah, I'm not concerned

Well, it's better than Halle Berry at least.

I'm quite surprised Bane is in this. I thought for sure Nolan would consider him too "extreme" to fit his take on Batman.
Either way, I'm ok with all this. I just can't wait to see it. Still wish the Riddler was in it.

Catwoman is overdone, but hell yes to Anne Hathaway!

I disagree about Catwoman being overdone. I'd love to see Nolan's take on her, and it'll wash the taste of the Halle Berry one out of our mouths.

Anne Hathaway is pretty and all, but definitely doesn't pull off the pure sex vibe needed for Cat Woman. Another stupid casting choice for these boring ass movies.
