Casting is one thing, story is another. I'm in wait and see mode until I see the movie. Remember how much people mocked Heath Ledger as The Joker until the movie opened?

No, people weren't convinced about Heath till they saw the first picture of him in character.
As for Bane... in the comic-book he's a smart character. All Nolan has to do is remove the mask, put him as a brutal mob enforcer working his way to the top, and have Batman forced to match wits with someone as smart as he is and more violent.

If we can have fear gas, I don't see why we can't have venom.

Meh to Hathaway. Don't really care either way there. It'll probably be a good performance, but Catwoman's been done to death. Tom Hardy...no clue who that is. *Wikipedia's him* Hm. You know, I enjoyed how Nolan for the most part stuck to established continuity while putting his own spin on it. I don't know if I'll be able to buy that guy as Bane, mostly because Bane is Latino. Technically he's half.

Tom Hardy is one of my favourite actors, psyched to see him as Bane.

My problem with Bane in a Nolan Batman is that his Batman isn't exactly action-scene orientated. Hopefully that will change because what's the point of having Bane if we don't see him kicking ass?

The character is as smart as he is violent. Logically, he doesn't need to smash a building down to beat you.

And originally - wasn't Bane more credited with strategic stuff like releasing criminals from Arkham to wear exhaust the Batman, figuring out who his parents are - stuff like that? I mean - yeah, the guy is big, but his brute strength wasn't his best asset.

To me, Nolan's Bat-movies are a bit more fisticuff and explosion-happy than the previous series, just with the technology rooted somewhat in reality. I think the monologue-ish dialog (which I enjoy) just becomes prominent in our minds on the first couple viewings. But when I re-watched Dark Knight more closely, someone was at least getting smacked around or threatened every 5 minutes. So Bane should be fine.

So we have Bane, Catwoman, and Hugo Strange? Should be interesting.

I thought Nolan said he was never going to do Catwoman or Penguin?

I thought Nolan said he was never going to do Catwoman or Penguin? Technically, the press release credits her as Selena Kyle.

Are we forgetting that Hugo Strange is going to be one of the big baddies in the new Batman game next year? Maybe that will help in people's opinions on the guy.

Hathaway is far too girlish and nowhere near fierce enough for Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Maybe she'll prove me wrong but as of now, I just don't get this casting choice.
I'm indifferent towards Hardy as Bane, I'll wait and see with him.
