Hogan is the biggest wrestler, Rock is the biggest actor.

Well biggest is kind of a broad term. But I'll go with Hogan, because I don't think you'll meet many people over the age of 18 who's never heard of him. Wrestling fan or not.

Are we basing this on wrestling success alone? Or overall mainstream popularity?

Hogan. I think if you were to poll people on the street to name one wrestler, they'd say Hogan.

I voted Hogan, the reason being, he transcended wrestling, was popular in the main stream and made tons and tons of money.
I'd say base off any criteria you'd like, except for in ring work, because that obviously doesn't matter.

Toss up between Hogan and Austin IMO. I went with Austin because whenever I bring up wrestling to people in my age group (I'm 21), that's the name most people mention, and I often see 3:16 shirts around.

Hogan, without question. Not because of anything hes done, or how good he is. He was the first. That's the only reason. If Austin or Rock were the first, they'd be the biggest...

Only two guys have transcended wrestling to become pop culture icons - Hogan and Rock. Hogan gets my vote simple because he's been around longer.

Love to vote for Austin but w/o Hogan there is no WWF brand. Ric Flair was wring Vince could not have done that with anybody. No trigger, no explosions. If Hogan dosnt make WWF in 85, than a lot is different in wrestling history.

I'll go with Hogan just because I have never met a single person who hasn't at least heard of him. Obviously, Rock and Austin would be close seconds.
