WWE pushes Triple H's workout partner over an IWC favorite who can actually wrestle. Who'd have thought?

My problem with Sheamus is the WWE's weird need for every face to be a smartass and be "funny". Some people just can't do it, like Sheamus. Why couldn't he be an badass without stupid things that awful Hornswoggle battle royal crap a few months back. I like Sheamus but can't stand how they cut his balls off so he can pander to fans.

Why don't they just take the belt off of him?

Next week is a live Smackdown. Plus Extreme Rules is in Chicago. And I'm guessing he'll make sporadic Raw appearances. Sheamus is boned.
He's completely screwed at Extreme Rules. If he's in a match WITH Bryan, the crowd's going to be so insanely pro-D-Bry that it'll be deafening. If WWE goes with Del Rio/Sheamus, the crowd will crap over that worse than Goldberg/Lesnar at Mania.
I'm almost starting to wonder if this is an intentional move to have a "Summer of D-Bry" where he becomes this beloved anti-authoritarian figure. Have him get beat by a super generic hoss in a squash match, then edit out the cheers for him when we're all aware he was getting the loudest cheers of the night. Convince people he's getting screwed over by the system.

You know what? They should keep using it, at least until the fans get the message. I'm sick of the heel getting cheered. Sheamus is the face in this feud, despite what some fans think. The internet boy lost, get over it.

At this point, the only way to salvage Sheamus without taking him off TV is having him channel South Park's version of Russel Crowe and have his own "FOITIN ROUND THE WORLD!" vignette series.

I like Sheamus just fine, but he picked the wrong man to dethrone as champion.

I like Sheamus just fine, but he picked the wrong man to dethrone as champion. The only person who could had pinned Bryan at Mania for the belt without major backlash is CM Punk. Yes, I'm opening the Punk Paradox. I still like Sheamus and not using him as a surrogate for Bryan's night of infamy.

The thing is, if WWE just let Sheamus win in a competitive match, or a match longer than 18 seconds, WWE wouldn't be needing to do this insane self censorship at all.
For the record, I have always found crowd editing stupid. You're the only medium where crowd reacting is encouraged and used to move a product along...why do wrestling companies always try and craft it to their means? It's pointless self censorship and makes it less alluring for me to want to go to a Smackdown show.

I dislike Sheamus. The only reason he's where he is at, is because he was Triple Hs roid buddy. Guy has got hardly any personality.
Enjoy your X-Pac heat there fella.

Because if your reaction is not the one WWE intends on, they can just edit you right out of existence, rendering your opinion that you expressed as a paying customer non-existent.

I really feel bad for Sheamus here since I like the guy a whole lot. But I think he's going to end up being the true victim of quite possibly the worst booked Wrestlemania match I've ever seen.

He can't be a badass face because there's already Blandy Boreton in that role...for the next 15 years maybe So they decided to make him a midget friendly poopy joking "bland face n°412" I don't think it's because he beat Bryan he's booed like that, I think it's more the way he beat him. Give them a 12 minutes competitive match at WM and people won't complain, plain and simple. Plus he won the Rumble for no reason but to swerve people and after that he was just there: "hey, i'm thinking about who i'll face at WM, let's do nothing for 3 weeks" Bryan had already feuds going on and Sheamus just got put in the mix because..well he won the rumble so he MUST be in a championship match at WM... But they had 3 weeks to build the feud and they finally decided to produce that masterpiece of a crappy booking at WM TO GIVE MORE TIME TO ORTON, and because they think shockingly short championship matches entertain people...But guess what we have 2 of them a year for 3 years thanks to the good (turned horrible) idea of Money in the bank! Now poor fella is booed out of town and the championship looks like crap.

I like Sheamus and I like him as a face Poor guy kinda got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time with this, and the backlash would have happened to anyone put in that position. And of course, people who still like Sheamus are being seen as anti-smark fascists trying to force everyone else to turn on Bryan. Because, apparently it's impossible to support Sheamus if you like Bryan.

Sheamus would never agree to have his career irreparably destroyed for the sake of one singular other roster member, no matter how beloved that person was by some section of the viewership.

Isn’t it weird WWE, how the fans turns on your champion when he’s booked in an 18 second squash-match at wrestle mania against a guy who’s insanely over? Hopefully they'll learn from this, and never repeat this horrible mistake (and by that I don’t mean Sheamus winning, I would be fine with him winning the title at mania, but the way he won it was atrocious, and WWE is suffering the drawbacks of their terrible booking now).

Even without the 18 second match happening, if the WWE refused to alter his character I think it was only a matter of time before fans got tired of Sheamus' shtick
