That Hornswoggle bit was what killed me liking Sheamus, not so much him squashing Bryan at 'Mania. You can still be a face and brogue kick the leprechaun that managed to outsmart you, instead of smiling and going "Okay".
Just as much as you can brogue kick a ref and it's okay.

Sheamus needs to come out and remind everyone he is King of the Ring and put that silly crown back on

Sheamus list of accomplishments:
1. 1st WWE title reign, where instead of getting booked like a monster and destroying Cena, it is made to look like his winning was a fluke. His only clean win was against Ryder
2. 2nd WWE title reign, where they booked him as a coward, and it was really unmemorable. At no point during his first two reigns was he a top 3 heel in the company.(Edge, Jericho, Orton, CM Punk were all more over as heels during this time)
3. Win's the King of the Ring, and that somehow de-pushed him to the mid card, where Triple destroys him in a 5 min brawl segment.
4. Wins US title, has his match at WM was bumped off the card. First former WWE champ to accomplish this.
5. Wins Royal Rumble as a face, and does not get reaction expected by management. The crowed at the end seemed to be pulling more in the favor of Y2J.
6. Wins WHC in record time at WM, which leads to him getting some of the biggest heat at RAW, and Smackdown.
ALL his accomplishments are tainted by bad booking. The WWE finally finds a big guy who can wrestle, and they book him horribly!

I agree bad booking is involved but Sheamus has never done much for me as a face or heel.

4. Wins US title, has his match at WM was bumped off the card. First former WWE champ to accomplish this. Kane did this first, as his Wrestlemania 19 match was bumped off the card for the Miller Light Catfight Girls. At least Sheamus and Bryan got bumped for a Rock promo.

They took the belt of a guy who wasn't brought up cradle to grave through the WWE machine and put it on a guy who cradle to grave has been brought up through the WWE machine. We wrestles the boring "safe style" and totes the company line and comes across as a complete bore who got his shot via politics and not the crowd demanding he be a world champion. Sheamus wrestled a full five years in Europe (trained, funny enough, in New Jersey at the monster factory) before getting into developmental.

I've stayed out of this for awhile, because I don't really know what to make of the situation, but I hope this doesn't end up tainting Sheamus forever, as I rather like the guy most of the time.
I am interested to see what happens with a couple of live crowds coming up, though.

I have to wonder at this point, if WWE is so intent on pushing who they want and don't want to listen to the fans, why the hell don't they just put Raw on a 20 minute time delay, which allows for them to pump in some generic cheers and boos for whoever they desire. It's kind of silly to do it for SD, but not Raw...if I was some wet behind the ears mark, who watched both shows, I wouldn't know what to think.

I see you, and I raise you: At least Kane got bumped off the card for a match. A match, mind you, that included Stacy Kiebler and Torrie Wilson. Given, this is using the word "match" very loosely, but Kiebler by herself beats the hell out of grown men pantomiming Rock's "if you smell" catchphrase. Badly.

My problem with Sheamus is the WWE's weird need for every face to be a smartass and be "funny". Some people just can't do it, like Sheamus. Why couldn't he be an badass without stupid things that awful Hornswoggle battle royal crap a few months back. I like Sheamus but can't stand how they cut his balls off so he can pander to fans. I agree. Other than that I've liked his face run (and I'm one of the many who hates faces in general), since he's this hot headed bad ass who kicks ass. But I'd wish they'd just let him do his thing.

Well, at first I disliked D-Mac when he first debuted. His moveset seemed to consist of punches, kicks, a suplex, and then the Future Shock DDT. Also, the Chosen One gimmick where he was just generic slow talking srs heel #365 didn't do anything for me, whereas Sheamus was a fun trash talking monsterish heel. Nowadays, Sheamus seems to be a boring smiley happy face and D-Mac's improved WAY more in the ring.

During that time, he went to IWW, pushed to oblivion and stunk the place up compared to, as someone else mentioned, Drew McIntyre. He's much better now, much MUCH better, but just wanted to point that out.

Best post of the thread, and really why WWE has failed so miserably when it comes to creating babyfaces people truly get behind. They try and pigeonhole these guys into being funny, always have them out-talk the heels, and never truly seem in peril. It's basically taking wrestling booking 101 and flipping it upside down.

But the "match" went to a No Contest, so it was actually really pointless. They could've made it as a short segment and it would've been fine. But instead, they chose to waste more time on this than they needed.
