You know what? They should keep using it, at least until the fans get the message. I'm sick of the heel getting cheered. Sheamus is the face in this feud, despite what some fans think. The internet boy lost, get over it. Maybe the WWE should start giving their faces some personality? eriously, there's Daniel Bryan, a guy who is entertaining every week and has a fun, hilarious character and is great in the ring on top of that. And the Sheamus... who yeah, he's good in the ring but he's as dull as dishwater and has no character beyond he's big, pale and kicks people. It's no wonder people are cheering for Daniel Bryan over him and cheering for heels in general. Most WWE main event faces suck because the WWE always tries to make them a happy-go-looky smiling guy who high-fives the fans and makes lame jokes. I will say though that Cena has taken that gimmick and run with it so that I do actually like his character. Other than Cena, the only faces I ever find myself cheering for are Punk, Santino, Zack and Brodus because they've all actually got characters and personality.

Jeez, WWE............it's almost like the fans wanted an actual match and not an 18 second squash........and they are taking it out on Sheamus.
But that can't be the issue, right?

I think Sheamus is a helluva a wrestler, but they've completely made him unmistakably dull. First and foremost while it's cliche, I think that the Royal Rumble winner needs a story, when you have someone win it at random, the crowd doesn't exactly know how to respond to it (see Edge), especially if that person has done almost nothing of interest leading up to that match. Also, after he won the Rumble, he continued to do nothing of interest.
So Sheamus has a couple strikes against him already, simply because he's just drifting for no reason. Meanwhile, Bryan is having some really good matches night after night and showing a lot of character development.
We get to the event, and to be honest, WWE could have still gotten themselves out of this mess. The Cody/Show match by all means should have been the squash...it MADE SENSE for it to be the squash match, and the crowd would have understood. But since Vince had this "oh so genius" plan from several months ago...let's go with that. Keep in mind, it was the opening match...again, undermining the Royal Rumble winner once again...and then you make it a squash?
WWE f***ed up...BIG TIME. And until they give the fans what they're asking for...they'll continue to f*** up. Sure, they could just sweep this all away, and down the road they'll still be alright. But by all means...when you have something hot...you f***ing start pushing for that. In this Cena era, WWE thinks they can tell the fans what they want...they can't! Imagine if Pepsi released several new flavors of cola, one of which they thought was going to catch on, instead some other flavor which they didn't really plan on catching on does, what does Pepsi do? They take the popular flavor off the market and they advertise their favorite a helluva a lot more....and do you think the people are going to drink it because of just that? Give me a break.
Look, WWE is like all other businesses, they're going to f*** up. The difference between them and others is how well they clean up their f*** ups...and by all means...Vince doesn't understand that you have to cater to what the people want, no matter if you like it or not.

In all fairness...it's worked out amazingly for Cena. Only really once they started cultivating it, though. When they initially tried to cover it up or kept making Cena more and more invincible while making Angle cartoonishly evil, it was a complete disaster. Agreed. I wasn't watching at the time, but that does seem to be how its gone. However, it's made Cena the most unique/polarizing figure I've ever in wrestling, so it has come out well at the end. That had to be just agonizing at the time though. Also, Sheamus is no John Cena.

Vince doesn't understand that you have to cater to what the people want, no matter if you like it or not. This quote just made me visualize Vince watching the monitor and reacting when one of his "great ideas" gets crapped on. Try it, it's entertaining.

I think people are just starting to reject WWE's forced pet projects in general. That's why no one has really taken to Sheamus or Del Rio. They got super pushed from day 1 because the WWE likes them and the crowd just doesn't seem to be feeling it.

It all depends... will this continue or is this crowd just an anomaly? As Vince (or who ever does the booking) you don't want to over react then it just looks like you are crazy and it will cause plans to change every week.
True I don't think they should really edit reactions but sometimes you have to show patience before you change the course too much

lol gmac, I will not insult you, and I will even defend your right for your opinion, but REALLY? REALLY!?
With your mind set Bret and Austin would have never switched places as heel/face, and Austin would have never exploded.
This is also like: AT&T has bad service, but lets all but their product, because their advertisement said so...

The WWE is in Virgina this week, which is more of a casual market, so he may get a break this week. Why go back to these weird southern markets so much? Last WWE show in Richmond, had the worst crowed of the year.

I feel for Sheamus. It's certainly not his fault WWE Chose to crap on the WHC By giving it 18 seconds at WM, But the fans don't see it that way

That worked well. Nothing says "strong and over" like getting booed out of the building two nights in a row. 2nd most heat of the night on RAW, most heat of the night on Smackdown!

Yeah, I'm not asking them to jump the gun or anything. But I would think the smart thing to do would be to not edit the crowds and and have the commentators genuinely acknowledge them. That isn't going to hurt anything.

He also got NO reaction when he won the Rumble. The crowed seemed more disappointed that Y2J didn't win it. Granted they were not booing, but is sitting on your hands actually any better?

Interesting question that just came to mind - would the reaction be better, worse, or about the same if it were Orton RKOing and beating Bryan inside of eighteen seconds?

Probably this week would have stayed the same, but more casual markets would be much less susceptible to turning on Orton and Bryan.

I think the audience backlash would be less, because there are probably more established Orton fans than Sheamus fans out there... even if they like Bryan, they might not boo another guy they've been fans of for a long time. Here, I dunno. Probably more resignation than outrage, though.
