Why are we always questioning AJ's "nerd cred"? I'll admit that she almost certainly amps it up for TV (although, what is she really amping up? It's not like she's constantly dropping comic book references or something), but is it THAT hard to believe that she might actually have some nerdy interests and isn't a poser?

This thread has gone off the rails, into dissertations on the state of nerdery and the meaning of the word pandering.
Bottom line: wearing a shirt that says "punk rock" from hot topic is the least "punk" thing one can ever, ever, ever, ever do, and it's bound to annoy the shit out of people who have actually had their lives changed by punk rock music and ethos and live it every day.
I'm not even one of those people, but I get that. Hell, maybe she does too, and she's wearing it out of irony, which nerds LOVE.

Someone make a compilation of the shirts with words she's worn on TV.
I can only remember "Punk Rock(s)", "I <3 Nerds" (that has to be the worst offender of pandering), and a bunch of Skull-related paraphernalia.

She's wore the exact same Punk Rock shirts (albeit different colors) on 3 different occasions that I can remember. I guess she likes the look of it. |
