I feel there is only one logical way to deal with this. Just have her wear no shirt at all. I doubt anyone here would have an issue with that. Her Bon Iver tattoo will be a real point of contention if that happens.

LOL. I understand the dislike you have for her wearing "Hot Topic gear" (as I myself don't like it when something is blatantly exploited and not acknowledged) but we don't know AJ intimately ( ::: sees rest of thread giggling::: Shut up you! ) and if she genuinely likes their clothing that's fine. There is no reason to get angry at someones personal choice. As far as accusing her of being "not punk rock" goes, that itself is implying that she is not conforming to some ideal visually or mentally that you or anyone else ( including my own) has established as being "Punk". Punk has no rules or guidelines because it was born of a desire to break every single one of them. It's interesting you mention Carcass because liking Metal was NOT punk for a long time. In the 80's if metal kids went to a punk show they were getting their ass whipped and vice versa. I suppose they realized years later that they were giving to many f***s and that wasn't Punk. Her choice of shirt is just as punk as a liberty spiked mohawk because both individuals don't give a s*** if you like it or not. THEY like it. That's all that matters. I get what youre saying. But alot of that doesnt act within the premise of what I believe. I believe that AJ is the female John Cena. Almost a product of focus groups. Instead of being marketted to kids, she's marketted to alternative types be it gamers or punks or nerds. I don't believe she's wearing that clothing for her own personal enjoyment. I think she's wearing it to get noticed right down to the fact that shes got it cut to show off her stomach. I don't think thats punk at all. I think that's marketting. I think that's openly exploiting the idea of the geek dream girl whos into everything that a group of geeky wrestling fans are into. If she wants to wear the t-shirt,that's fine with me. As much as the concept of the whole thing infuriates me,I find it really funny. This whole topic is kinda an extension of how funny I find it. I'm not a t-shirt nazi really. I don't even neccessarly hate hot topic. I just hate it when I percieve something to be exploitative cynical corporate pandering to a world that i've been a part of. It's the same manufacturing that I see with boy bands. It's just so phony to me and borderline insulting. But this topic was never intended to as i've said many times be some serious debate about whether aj lee is pandering or not. This topic is meant to be a center of playstation disk bra jokes. So with that,I think the clear next step is next week she comes out with wii controllers as a bra. you're kind of an elitist asshole, huh?

If bristling against the cynical pandering employed by WWE and AJ Lee makes someone an elitist asshole I'll the be the first to say that I'm proud to be an elitist asshole.
Another AJ t-shirt: I want your rumble stick.

I've done this a few pages ago, though it's still amusing to see some people get so worked up about something so insignificant as words on a t-shirt. Was it this bad when Mickie James was around the WWE?

AJ never went through a character change like Cena did. So, I'm kinda struggling to see how she's been molded to fit their image of what we want. There's more evidence to support the argument that this is actually who AJ is than there is to support that she was constructed in the pandering lab at WWE Headquarters. You're saying she's pandering with no ground to stand on. *abandons thread again*

She is a gamer girl/comic book chick...anything she wears is going to be pretentious, vapid, soulless, and pandering.

No,I have integrity.
I'd try explaining that but considering that you like to call people elitist assholes based off one post then I think i'd be hitting a brick wall.

So what have we learned? Apparently, AJ is the first professional wrestler in professional wrestling to ever play towards her fan base. FWIW, short of a blank tee or maybe ring gear, anything they wear could probably be misconstrued as "pandering" if someone wanted something any little thing to complain about.
