So the Clippers going to trade pretty much there whole dam team, and future draft picks for this one player. That is why they are the Clippers. If they give up Eric Gordon for Paul plus that Minny 1st round pick it would be the biggest over pay in a long time. Gordon should be off the table in any scenario. There aren't many elite young 2 guards in the NBA and Gordon is one of them. Don't give up a young stud like Gordon for Paul a guy you aren't sure will be there in the long run. That Minny pick plus Bledsoe along with Al-Farouq Aminu is a rebuilding package worth it for Paul (Along with Kaman's expiring deal). That would leave NO with TWO likely lottery picks (Their own plus that Minny pick) and some young talent on top of that? What more would you want if you are NO? A high draft choice PLUS two young players with upside? Along with an expiring contract? Seriously this is a fair deal but Stern is driving a hard bargain for no reason. If I were the Clipps I would just hold on to those assets till Stern stopped being a moron. I would just wait for the team to be sold, and see if it would be easier to deal with the new owner if I am any other team. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hornets will not be traded till the ownership situation is resolved.

If they're THAT desperate to feel like they mugged the Clippers, then add another first into the equation. But this deal will trump anything they get. It's a great way to start over the rebuilding process. Young prospects. Future lottery picks. Expiring contracts. It's an upstart GM's wet dream come true.

There's a part of me that hopes Dell Demps amnesties Paul & quits, just to say f*** you to Stern, Stu Jackson & the NBA front office.

Ken Berger of CBS Sports reported Monday that the acquisition of Chauncey Billups has angered rival GMs, since it has allowed Eric Bledsoe to be included in a potential trade for Chris Paul and may "push it over the finish line."

not for nothing, but for someone who hates the NBA so much, you sure do have a lot to say about it. I dont "hate" the NBA. Ive been pretty clear that Im just not a big fan of it. Stuff like this current situation is a reason why either way, for someone who "isn't a fan" you sure have a lot of things to say about it. I'm not trying to rag on you or anything, it just seems odd to me. Its not even that your beefs aren't legitimate, because they are. It's just, I don't know, if it gave me as much angst as it seems to give you, I think I'd watch some hockey games or something.

So rival GMs are pissed at the Clippers making a move, that may allow them to get CP3? Great logic there owners. "The Clippers may have thought ahead, that's bullshit."

You mean like what the Clippers were doing BEFORE they finalized their signing of Billups, rival GMs?

The NBA: Our Players Are Petty Children And So Are Their Bosses! This off-season really has been a disaster for the NBA. The lockout, Chris Paul to the Lakers.... wait he's not going, Dan Gilbert, Mark Cuban vetoing the CP3 trade and having no problem with the Mavs getting Odom, Chris Paul's going to the Clippers.... no he's not, the NBA trying to get an entire starting 5 for CP3, and GMs pissed because the Clippers picked up a player that may help them get CP3. The league is really doing nothing to help their image, they're hurting it instead.

And this is of course on top of one of the reasons for there even being a lockout was the owners wanted more parity in the league, even though sending CP3 to the Clippers would help create such parity(as they would, you know, become a playoff caliber team instead of the perennial lottery pick team they currently are.).

I should have been more clear, I *want* to like the NBA more and to get behind it. Then I see stuff like what we've seen this summer, and it baffles me how priorities seem to be "off", if that makes any sense.

One has to wonder how the NBA ever had success over the past 20 years with complete idiots running it.

Kevin Garnett on the aging Boston Celtics and the 66-game schedule: "Timing is everything. Chemistry is something you don't just throw in the frying pan and mix it up with another something, then fry it up and put it in a tortilla and put it in a microwave, heat it up and give it to you and expect it to taste good. You know?"
Garnett's speech in the immediate aftermath of the 2008 NBA Finals is the only thing less comprehensible than that quote.

Thank God we dumped Rudy Fernandez. Didn't want him here when we made the deal on draft night & still don't. So long, farewell. Enjoy Spain.
I didn't really want to give up Corey Brewer, BUT my one hope from this deal is that we now go and re-sign DeShawn Stevenson.
I feel like Stevenson was just as important to the championship team as anybody and without him, we wouldn't have gotten there. He and Marion were the ones defending the best scorers on the floor in every playoff series and doing damn good jobs at it. It's not like he will be commanding a huge deal. Please, just bring the guy back.
