As Giant Bernard, they had a modern-day Vader on their hands, for real.
They instead decided they wanted Lord Tensai, a modern-day Sultan.
Good one, WWE.

And so the curse of the continuous hype videos before the official debut continues...

And so the curse of the continuous hype videos before the official debut continues... Seriously. Damien Sandow, Alberto Del Rio, and Kofi Kingston are the only ones I can think of to not get screwed up almost immediately.

They should just go back to Albert's "Hip Hop Hippo" gimmick and put him in a tag team with Brodus Clay.

Give him Vance Archer's old gimmick and make him Lord INTENS-ai.

Didn't 3/4 of us on this website predict this from his awful debut?
Calling it now - big fat dancing fun guy. Always, always happens with monster heels in WWE.

It's why I can't stand this WWE re-packaging nonsense, it seems really insecure of them. I know that Giant Bernard is probably NJPW's property, but what's wrong with Albert or A-Train?

Just give him Rob Conways theme and be done with it, or bring back Rob Conway and push him.

WWE probably, accurately, remembered that Albert was never over, and decided that associating him with his unsuccessful past would work against him succeeding in this run. Unfortunately he's still Albert.

A white guy pretending to be a totally different Japanese guy didn't get over in 2012? ![](http://alectosophelia.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83452cd1869e20133f26a4c26970b-800wi)

I don't think the Lord Tensai gimmick would have been so bad if it was an unknown person portraying it, it just didn't work with Albert. Hopefully the success of the relative success of the Funkasaurus means they won't automatically discount future cartoony gimmicks, I think WWE needs more of them. Since they've got a busted flush I think they should just say that Albert has multiple personality disorder, have him bounce between his personas like Foley, actually why not do them all at the same time? I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. /memestarter It's not your fault, if it stayed to the original weekly post-Raw threads and was used appropriately elsewhere it would have been fine. It's only when it was shoe-horned in everywhere and there were five new threads a day that it went downhill.

I call bullshit on the "Albert was never over" claim. I distinctly remember the "shave your back" chants. When the crowd makes up a new chant for you, you're over.
