Looking like the Kelly Kelly Express has finally been derailed. Good Riddance. Why did WWE waste so much effort on her over the years? She wasn't even over. She's been one of the more over diva's since she started. She's been more over than Laycool, Alicia Fox, Askana, Beth Phoenix, Eve (until she friendzoned Zack Ryder), Natalya, AJ (but that'll soon change), The Bella Twins, Maria, etc. Saying she wasn't over with the crowd is a understatement. But it's good she's taking time off to rest injuries and to regroup. I'm 21 and every passing year since 17 feels like you've aged two years. Going to the WWE and getting some fame and fortune that young and not looking back for a long time is mentally tough. I'm one of the few people here but I felt she was a bit underrated in the ring and even though I admit she's expressionless and has dead eyes, she did have charisma. Plus some of these comments on this thread are pretty tasteless. I sometimes think if it was a untalented wrestler (Jinder Mahal) taking time off over a talented diva (Layla), their will still be more disturbing insults to Layla than to Jinder Mahal. I don't know about all of that. I don't think many people would even notice if Jinder Mahal suddenly left. While on the other hand, when Layla was injured it seemed we'd get a new thread every month wondering when she'd be back. The comments aren't a gender thing. It's a Kelly Kelly thing.

This isn't really a surprise, when you stop to remember that for the most part, a Divas' shelf life is six, seven years at the most, and just about everyone has proven that point (Trish, Lita, McCool, even Chyna...Stacy and Torrie you can debate though, considering they were in WCW prior to WWE...)

No wonder the women haven't had televised segments for a couple weeks, what with the only one who's actually over taking time off. It does strike me as slightly suspicious for this to come right after she made the Maxim Hot 100 a second time; she could be pulling a Sable and deciding she's big enough she doesn't need WWE anymore, and she's likely to be just as mistaken. TBH with you it's probably what I would try to do if I were in her shoes and wrestling wasn't I really wanted in life. She's young enough and probably has enough connections to try to do something. While not having rights to the name Kelly Kelly might hurt her like it has others in the past, it seems Kelly has some better networking connections than Sable did... I could be reaching there with that, but who knows?

It is quite a feat that she's been on the road for six years without any considerable time off; she deserves a break. From a selfish point of view, I'd be glad to see the back of her because she's still absolutely dreadful at everything.
I can't see her having much success in the entertainment business if that's the path she chooses to go down. She's probably the worst actress the WWE has ever had, which is quite the feat considering some of the rotters they've had over the years. There are thousands of gorgeous women out there with a tiny bit of talent who outshine Kelly, and she doesn't really have anything to make her stand out. Stacy was on DWTS and it took a relationship with Clooney before anyone cared; she was an Oscar winner in comparison to Kelly.

It's kind of funny because I think that the WWE was more or less bewildered by how popular Kelly actually was when she won that vote a year ago. They were no where near interested in pushing her seriously before that...probably because they knew where she was lacking.

Kelly Kelly was the top babyface diva on SmackDown for all of 2010 and earlier in the year, they started her push with the Vickie Guerrero angle. Only thing was that Snooki came in and took her WrestleMania spot, otherwise she'd have teamed with Stratus and Morrison to face LayCool and Ziggler. Besides, the SmackDown match of Edge/Kelly vs. LayCool and Ziggler was a fine match as well so I doubt they'd have looked at something like that and said "Kelly can't wrestle with these two." Hell, Kelly's bad performances always came against Rosa and The Bellas, who in my opinion were the three worst divas on the roster. Mostly anyone would look awful against them because they suck on offense and aren't good at selling. That's not to say Kelly's amazing, but I still say that some people look at her as if she's the worst thing to ever happen to the divas, when that's far from the truth.

Awesome news. I hope she never returns. My sentiments exactly. I wish her luck in whatever she does next. REALLY, even she's got to know that she's a God awful diva. 6 years is 3 yrs too long, exit stage left.

I still wonder why they seemed to want her to take a backseat to divas like Eve, Beth, and Natalya prior to the polling incident/Kharma's leave of absence.

Eve was in the position that Punk is in now. She was champion but not the focus. LayCool was always the focus. So Kelly feuding with LayCool meant more than her going after the title (at the time). It would have eventually led her to winning the title before getting crushed by Kharma.

Hope she's not gone for good. Don't really mind her myself, and she's one of the few divas the crowd in any way cares about.

Well, if she is gone, I say congrats to her. Six years she's been on the road, starting when she was about 18-19, without injury or serious infraction, which is damn good for someone who's allegedly so bad. Plus, barring Kharma, she's one of the last Divas on television to get the crowd to give a damn about her. So, with that being said, if she is headed home for the long term, I gotta wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Good for her - basically growing up on the road probably wasn't easy. Can't say that I blame her for wanting some time off.

Oh Kelly. I remember coming to the forum on the first ECW episode and people being perplexed with this Kelly Kelly individual. Her stripping gimmick seemed to be a take off of Kimona's stripping at the ECW arena, except they kept it as a gimmick. Kelly has always been an incredibly sympathetic baby face, and I feel that's the biggest reason she ended up being a bit over. I wouldn't say she's mega over, like she's Trish or even Mickie James.
However, being one of the more over divas on the roster has sent the standard for women's wrestling through the basement. It's like, Kelly Kelly is what's expected of a female wrestler. But it may not be her fault. When I briefly trained with Lance Storm, he talked about how Kelly would sometimes bump and land on her head. I've jarred my head while bumping and it's not fun, and Kelly really had to learn how to bump and wrestle quickly. And I think being on the road and not being in developmental hindered her ability to learn properly. She had all these great trainers around her, but how much time could she learn.
On the other hand, Layla was another example and seemed to learn and get better. Kelly Kelly will never be a good wrestler and will never put on a good match. She will never put on anything half decent. Everything she does will always be bad or passable thanks to the other person carrying the load. But again, pro wrestling is about personalities. Sadly, Ricky Morton was a great wrestler and garnered a lot of sympathy. He and Robert Gibson set the standard for tag team wrestling. Kelly Kelly is another person with great natural sympathy, but I feel she is one of the reason why women's wrestling isn't on WWE TV much anymore. She's the most over diva, yet embarrasses herself on a regular basis. So why put on divas match in the first place?
If Kelly leaves, it might be a new day for women's wrestling, and this seems a bit over the top I will admit. But Kelly needs to get out. Because yeah, she brings in some fans, but fans see women's wrestling as this piss poor parody of actual professional wrestling.
