IMO, 2006 Heel Lita was the best Female Heel....

I agree and I think her work went underrated at the time because everyone just hated her so much they didn't want to give her any credit.

Her real life personality and her heel character are like night and day--but people got so caught up in the character that they never gave her any credit for how well she played the role.

They just assumed that was who she was, with no consideration into the effort she put in to develop the mannerisms, clothing style and swagger of heel Lita, which were completely different from her face character. I had a few friends who started watching WWE in '06 who absolutely hated her and had no idea that she was ever a face. I showed them old matches/segments with her as face and they couldn't believe it.

She definitely benefited from Edge--they played off of one another so well--but there's a segment in '06 that I think exemplifies how well she came into her own as a heel, her mannerisms/look were done perfectly, I think it was Edge's promo after the Live Sex Celebration on the next RAW. She looks right at the camera with this absolutely evil glare/smirk.

She did a great job, definitely top female heel of that period.

*That reminds me, there was another great match Edge had where she interfered by pulling the ref out of the ring and kneeing him the groin/punching him in the face. It was absolutely badass...Sherri Martel levels of badass. I wish they let her interfere that way more. When she knocked the ref out I was in complete shock.

2004 trish was better in that I didn't see it coming. With all the Edge/Lita/Hardy rumors starting to rise, you knew it was only a matter of time that Lita was gonna turn

She did hit her stride as a heel, didn't she? Hell, for a chick who isn't exactly known for her mic acumen (her voiced doesn't help), she cut a hell of a heel promo on her way out; arguably one of the best Diva promos, period.

Edge's run with Lita, the whole Rated-R Superstar persona, was one of my favourite ever.

They just really really clicked with it, both helped the other's character out. And Cena made for a perfect opponent to them, I feel, too.

And yeah, looked hot too. It's interesting to see someone able to have successfully played both the virtuous fiery babyface and the evil mercenary heel.

I gotta admit, though, while I loved Lita as a heel retroactively (Yeah, I was in the boat of people that hated her for what she did, human nature), I gotta admit I was annoyed with every opportunity taken to drill in the fact that "she's a whore derpdederp", as well as her way out.

I mean c'mon, she lost the Women's belt on her way out, WHY WOULD YOU ADD SALT TO THE WOUND?

Concerning the latter, the golden rule of wrestling is to go out on your back and, if you can, put someone over on your way out. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think the real question is "why didn't Trish lose the title on her way out?" I know she's sort of the WWE's golden girl, but come on. I kinda wonder for Edge too, but then again, part of me thinks they kept the title on him because they never expected him to retire a week or two removed from WrestleMania.
