Every post in this thread being Spoiler tagged is silly. If you haven't seen the movie, and don't want it spoiled, you wouldn't be in a thread about the movie before you've seen it and after it's been released in theatres. And if you don't even care about the movie yet are posting in a thread about said movie, then it's also silly, right? Stay classy, guy.

{Spoiler}Actually, just thought of the one thing that actually sincerely bugged me from the movie, and any Dragonball Z fan will get where I'm coming from on this: The liberal use of "Freiza Time" during the climactic sequence. There's no way all that crap happened in just 11 minutes. But, it was a good movie, so I roll with it. I'm not a DBZ fan, but I was wondering the same thing. But, yeah, still an amazing movie. {Spoiler}What makes it weirder was how quickly time passed before the "11 minutes" started.

{Spoiler}Perhaps the "Robin" thing was not intended to be a "Hey guys this is Dick Grayson" and more of a "You fools wanted Robin, so this guy is gonna take over for Bruce, here, get off my tail"

I think the part where he finds the Batcave was all we really needed without the metaphorical wink and nudge.

BTW, was anybody else hoping that they would've thrown a "God damn" in between whenever anybody mentioned "The Batman"? Anybody? Bueller? Just me? Okay.

Actually I remember one part of the movie that irked me {Spoiler}Gordon's sudden recollection of events that happened 30 years go based off a few words. "Bruce Wayne?" That got a lot of laughs.

That got a lot of laughs. {Spoiler}Meh, that one's fairly easy to explain away. Stands to reason that Thomas and Martha's deaths were a huge deal to the city, and if he was the guy dealing with their kid on the night his parents died, that might have stuck with him.

Just saw it a second time, and a lot of questions came out in the viewing: {Spoiler} What was the point of Bane's Mask? It was supposed to help him deal with his injuries, but what exactly were they? From what I can tell, he was just beaten up by the prisoners, but why would the vent hurt him if it were damaged if they were just cosmetic injuries? Or why didn't Talia just get him surgery?
Why was Bane 7 feet tall when dealing with Taggert but 5 feet tall when dealing with Batman?
Why did Batman keep trusting Catwoman?
Why did Catwoman keep up the charade of Bruce's friend after she learned who he was?
Why was it Daytime when Bane escaped from the stock exchange, but night 8 minutes later?
Why does Batman refuse to use guns but has no problem blowing the shit out of people from The Bat?
How old was Bane? Assuming late 20s in prison, then another 20 years for Ras to become Liam Neeson age, then another 8 years for sequel time.
Why did they show reaction shots from inside The Bat when Batman sent it on auto pilot with the bomb?
And lastly for now, how the hell did Robin connect smiling facade to secret crime fighting identity?

{Spoiler} -It was an anesthetic, helping to keep his chronic pain in check -It was just camera tricks, and he made Taggert shrink because he was kept a distance away until he became afraid of him -He saw something good in her, which became evident by the end -No idea -He doesn't shoot any person with a gun from the Bat, he just shoots vehicles and giant stuff like that...that's how I see it -I just assumed he was really young in the hole originally (say 19-20), and it was who knows how many years later, so no idea (maybe 40ish, but I don't think it really matters) -It wasn't on auto pilot yet -It wasn't JUST the smile facade, he connected the fact that he was an orphan as well and he saw the same justice seeking attitude in Bruce by the attitude he carried, and the fake smile he brought with him

Wow... STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID {Spoiler} Michael Caine did a 180 turn from telling Bruce in the previous film that Gotham needs a Batman to overacting like crazy to get him to stop? Sure, it's great he cares about him, but it seems pretty early on that Batman should come back, at least for a bit in order to solve the Bane issue. And how the hell did Alfred know so much about Bane in the beginning of the movie then play "duh" about him later on? "Deus Ex Robin" Blake figures out Batman's identity 'cos he's "practiced that smile" in the mirror but Gordon really didn't have a clue??? What the hell was the point of Matthew Modine's character? He was such a douche throughout that I figured he was part of Bane's crew. He treated Gordon like s*** for the duration of the movie, including slamming the door in his face. But there he is, leading the charge in full regalia! Then I'm supposed to give a s*** about his "heroic" death? Um, autopilot or not, a nuke with a six-mile blast radius would have seriously affected the city from fallout alone. Yet this is a NOLAN movie so it is SUPER FOR REALZ. The world's greatest detective cannot figure out why s*** always seems to go down when this brunette chick is around? "WHO"S THE TRAITOR" Indeed! And talk about a hokey death scene...hooboy, the shuddering, close my eyes cliche death from Talia is funny as hell. Such a disappointment, simply because it could have been so much better...I didn't hate it but it was far from the genius of the first two films. I know that Batman isn't as driven in these films but I cannot dig his abiity to want to give up so easily as it is so out of character. I did mark for the Scarecrow though! And Lt. Dangle!

Ah screw it, I'll go full on defend the movie mode (and I don't by any means mean that I'll personally attack anyone)... {Spoiler}-Things have changed from TDK to TDKRises, and at the time Alfred didn't want Batman to give into The Joker. Now, he sees a man who is basically broken and if he had continued on, he was seemingly just begging for death. Also, Michael Caine never overacts dammit.
-Gordon didn't want to know, he said that a lot
-It was just a redemption story, in a way. He was a decent cop underneath, but he was being twisted around by the congressman at the beginning and it took the final stand for him to realize what he had to be (and that was a leader). I thought it worked, but then again I just like Modine.
-I think you're being a bit over the top here at the end, but it was pretty clearly six miles out of any immediate land (and I assume they'd find a way to block the fall out in the ocean).
-What exactly was she around for when shit went wrong, or at least that Wayne was aware of?

I take it you didn't like the film. I didn't hate it. Honest. But it certainly is not even in the same league as the previous film. More then anything, I felt that the previous film finally got the Batman RIGHT. I could accept the deviations from the source material because the characters were true to their roots. This movie threw that out of the window. OK, Batman took the fall for Harvey, but retiring for eight years just didn't sit well. Two years, sure. Give him time to hide and grieve. Watching the previous film it is never mentioned during the final scene that Batman would retire. I'm guessing it's what they came up with to fix the Ledger absence. I'm speculating wildly but I just can't see why they thought eight years made any sense.

Sure. 8 years was a bit much.
