Jason LaCanfora reporting that Carolina coaching staff will know their fates by Monday and if Ron Rivera is out, Broncos OC Mike McCoy is a likely target.
LaCanfora also reports that the Jaguars' GM search will be done this weekend, with many expecting that Dave Caldwell will get job, fire Mike Mularkey and go after Greg Roman off of 49ers' staff.

Well, that explains the unwavering commitment to Sanchez.

One of these days I wish one of these universities would call the coach's bluff and let him leave. Penn State had all the leverage with the buyout. O'Brien parlayed interviews into a bigger raise. It's smart of him to do but this type of stuff happens every year. Boston College kind of did with Jeff Jagodzinski. The AD flat out told him not to interview with the Jets and if he did, they would fire him. And that's what happened

The Houston WC game will be in a dome, but any word on the weather for the outdoor Wild Card games?

Well, that explains the unwavering commitment to Sanchez. If the woman was wearing a Tim Tebow jersey, she'd be sitting on a bench looking dejected.

Interest between the Chargers and Colts OC Bruce Arians is believed to be "mutual" regarding San Diego's head coaching vacancy.

Seahawks players and radio personalities are talking a lot of crap it looks like. Sunday can't come soon enough. That's an extension of their doofus of a head coach. He's a moron who knows nothing aside from SCREAMING AND MAKING MEAN FACES EQUALS ME BEING A TOUGH GUY AND A STRONG HEAD COACH!!! Believe me, I've witnessed his crap firsthand as a Patriots fan. A young, undisciplined team will buy in to start his tenure but by the end, the relationship will end acrimoniously. That's why it always worked at Southern California. He recruited guys he knew he could coach, guys who would buy into the JACKED AND PUMPED routine for three or four years, bolt to the professional ranks and then look back on him and think, "Man, what a horse's ass that guy is." The team he has in Seattle is buying in because there is a large portion of braggadocios, trash-talking punks (Dick Sherman, I'm looking at you) on the roster who are buying the garbage Pete Carroll is selling. It's worked this season. Hell, it'll probably work to start next season. But trust me, after a few 8-8, 7-9 and 6-10 seasons, the front office will wise up to Carroll's schtick and he'll be back in the college ranks.

There's no way that happens unless they have some incredibly bad injury luck. This is the best defense in the league right now, in my opinion. It's best players are just now hitting their stride. The offense is in sync with this defense, with a dynamic quarterback and a great, balanced running back. You're most certainly entitled to your opinion about Carroll, but there's no way you can objectively say he's a bad coach.

The offense is in sync with this defense, with a dynamic quarterback and a great, balanced running back. You're most certainly entitled to your opinion about Carroll, but there's no way you can objectively say he's a bad coach. The Patriots team that Pete Carroll inherited from Bill Parcells in 1997 was deep, young and talented. Here are some players they had who were within their first four years of NFL service: Drew Bledsoe, Curtis Martin, Terry Glenn, Troy Brown, Ben Coates, Willie McGinest, Tedy Bruschi, Chris Slade, Ted Johnson, Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy. They were loaded and they went from 10-6 to 9-7 to 8-8, fading down the stretch each season. When Carroll first arrived with this RAH-RAH attitude, the young players bought in, especially considering what a departure Carroll's laissez-faire attitude was when compared to the taskmaster style of Bill Parcells. However, with each passing year, the team started going behind Carroll to GM Bobby Grier or bypassing Grier and going right to Robert Kraft. By the 1999 season, Carroll was a figurehead, completely tuned out by the 53 guys wearing a uniform. And yes, I'll objectively say that as a professional football coach, Pete Carroll is not all that good. He's four games over .500 for his career. He took what could have been an AFC powerhouse and turned them into dregs within three years. For all the reasons I listed before, he's a great college coach, but put him in a locker room with a group of veterans who've seen his act before and his teams suddenly start slipping.

He's been a head coach in the NFL for seven seasons though, and his first four seasons were in the '90s. That's akin to judging Belichick almost entirely on his first seasons with the Browns. And those Patriots teams weren't as talented as this Seahawks team is, and I would argue that they didn't have the kind of upside that this team does.

This team, him aside, is explosive. Particularly the offense with Wilson and Lynch in the backfield. Carroll might be unconventional, he might even be a dick, but they're the powerhouse of the NFC right now, so I'm sure the Seattle FO couldn't care less at the moment. Maybe that'll change, but what doesn't in this league? Things are going good for them now.

If the Panthers fire Rivera and Chip Kelly goes to any other team, it's a major blunder on the Panthers' organization. They are the closest thing to what Kelly needs from an NFL team to be immediately competative.
