So the Browns not trading for RG 3 kinda looks worse now with the hiring of Chip Kelly. He probably would have been the perfect QB for Chip's offense.

My predictions for WC Weekend
Cincinnati over Houston
Minnesota over Green Bay
Indy over Baltimore (both teams are playing with a ton of heart, this is going to go down to the wire, IMO)
Seattle over Washington

He's been a head coach in the NFL for seven seasons though, and his first four seasons were in the '90s. That's akin to judging Belichick almost entirely on his first seasons with the Browns. And those Patriots teams weren't as talented as this Seahawks team is, and I would argue that they didn't have the kind of upside that this team does. Pete Carroll's regime also saw the end of the Curtis Martin era in Foxborough. The Patriots of the mid and late 90s were playoff mainstays but far from powerhouses. They got into the Super Bowl XXXI on account of the Broncos screwing up against the Jaguars in the divisional playoffs earlier that January. I wouldn't call the Seahawks very talented as it's them putting things together at the right time. Now for the per-dictions: Bengals over Texans. Unless J.J. Watt did what he did last year to the cats. Colts over Ravens. Nothing has shown me that the Ravens are consistent enough to get a playoff win. Vikings over Packers. The Packers' recent track record in the playoffs at Lambeau is not a pretty sight. I see AP doing Ghidorah proud to the tune of 175+ yards and a trip to Atlanta. Seahawks over Redskins. I hope.

Weeden would break a hip if he even tried to run a Kelly offense, so he's outta there.
Darron Thomas is sitting at home waiting for a phone call.

Andy Reid is officially the new Chiefs head coach. First press conference will be at 1pm CST on Monday. The mustache has landed, all BBQ joints in the KC area on high alert.

My picks for this weekend.
Texans over Bengals. This is honestly a toss-up to me, as neither team has looked too impressive over the past few weeks. I'm going with Houston based on pure talent.
Colts over Ravens. Even with Lewis returning and riding the wave of emotion of his retirement, Baltimore is too inconsistent, and the Colts have been riding a bit of a hot wave.
Packers over Vikings. I'm surprised really at how many people are going with the Vikings. I see Green Bay taking care of this pretty easily.
Redskins over Seahawks. Both teams have played very well lately, but I just can't pick Seattle winning on the road, were they haven't been that good. If the roles were reversed, I'd easily go the other way.

Packers over Vikings. I'm surprised really at how many people are going with the Vikings. I see Green Bay taking care of this pretty easily. If it had been Green Bay that just beat them, I'd pick the Packers. However, I give the Vikes the win just because they beat them a few days ago.

I don't think the Week 17 game is really anything to judge the Packers by. After last year's embarrassment against the Giants, I doubt they cared about a first round bye. Meanwhile the Vikings were playing for their season and for AD's rushing record attempt. The Vikings had way more reason to give that game their all than the Packers did. Plus I think the Packers are getting back some key guys like Woodson in time for the Wild Card game.
Not that I expect the Packers to blow out the Vikes or anything. The defense is still a sore spot even if Woodson's back. But I expect a far better team to show up than the one that showed up Week 17.

Bill Simmons' column today isn't why I'm taking GB, but it's why I'd be willing to take them much, much, much bigger than the better line is for the game.

A team source tells ESPN Cleveland that Browns president Joe Banner told Colt McCoy just over a week ago that McCoy is "in the next head coach's plans."
ESPN's John Clayton reported on SportsCenter Friday that Ron Rivera is likely to stay on as Panthers head coach.

Bengals over Texans - Schaub chokes (2 ints., Johnson doesn't see the ball much and Foster is held in check) and the questions grow louder. Bengals 31 - Houston 21
Colts over Ravens - The return of Ray Ray makes it close but ultimately the spiritual lift won't make up for poor play calling. Colts 27 - Ravens 20
Packers over Vikings - Same game as the last one but GB hits the game winning FG. AD gets about 220 though. Packers 24 - Vikings 21
Skins over the Seahawks - Toughest and best game of the weekend. Could go either way but I'll take Shanny and that line at home. Redskins 21 - Seahawks 20

Houston over Cincinnati
My team's season ends the same way again. The Bengals are better defensively this season than they were a year ago up front, but I don't believe Andy Dalton can take advantage of the opportunities Houston's defense will give him. He frustrates you by missing one wide open TD bomb per game by about 20 yards. They'll put up a better fight than they did a year ago, but it ultimately ends the same way.
Houston - 24 Cincinnati - 14
Green Bay over Minnesota
I honestly don't think this game is ever in doubt after the midway point in the second quarter. Rodgers is going to come out and dominate. As Bill Simmons pointed out above, Ponder tends to be ass outdoors this season. Peterson may get his yards again, but when it comes down to 3rd and 4 and they dare Ponder to extend a drive I really don't think it happens. They tack on an early Peterson TD to create some doubt, then GB rolls and it's FGs the rest of the way for Minnesota.
Green Bay - 31 Minnesota - 16
Baltimore over Indianapolis
That defense isn't what it once was, but I think they can get it up enough to show a rookie in his first playoff game what's what. I don't think this becomes the Baltimore/KC beat down from two seasons ago, but I kind of think we get one of those 275-1 TD-3 INT games from Luck and Flacco picks on their secondary.
Baltimore - 27 Indianapolis - 17
Seattle over Washington
I've gone back and forth on this 15 times this week. Every time I settle in on one of them I hear a stat or someone points something out that makes me change my mind. The only thing in this game that would shock me is a shoot out or a beat down in either direction. Seattle comes up with a timely turnover late and seals the deal in the best game of the weekend.
Seattle - 17 Washington - 14

Makes sense, he's athletic enough to make a spread offense work. With Richardson, you could go run-heavy to hide the fact that McCoy can't really throw downfield well.

I'm just hoping that, especially with all the hype behind it, the Seahawks/Redskins game is more like San Fran vs. New England and less like New England vs. Houston.

Will Arian Foster pout at the end of the bench by himself like he did the last time they lost in the playoffs? I just want to see Washington lose because they're in my division and I am sick of seeing these bandwagon jumpers walking around EVERYWHERE wearing their brand new Redskins jackets and hats. Put them back in the closet when Seattle wins.

Packers, Redskins, Colts, Texans.
Roger Goodell has had a voodoo priest perform a ceremony to make sure the Texans and Colts win just for the ratings for Peyton vs the Colts.
