Really liked it. Punk is taking it really seriously & so is The Rock.

Does Punk's actual promo before Rock showed up count? Because that was actually damn good. Wrapped up a lot of the plot from the last year, as well as getting a little of that 'pipebomb' fire to him again after so long of the 'respect' stuff. Then "If you smell what food the Rock is naming randomly this week" hits, and the whole thing just all the way down the scale from "Loved it" to "Sucked". This is my opinion on the matter.

It is in no way shocking that most of an internet forum would prefer Punk's promo and his work in general. I, personally, preferred Punk's work last night as well. But this is because I was never the popular guy as a young man either. I wasn't the star like Rock and Cena likely were in school. People didn't instinctively laugh at my jokes (even if I thought they were hilarious) like they did at the popular kid's half ass humor. People didn't get my references. etc. So I identify more with someone like Punk. Oddly enough, alot of the more popular/clique-ish people in my school were the "punk rock kids" who were alot like CM Punk.

It's on!... Ballgame Maggle! Biggest difference between this staredown and Cena vs Rock: This time, it feels like they aren't trying to do their very best to stop themselves from making out.

I will say, just seeing Punk face to face in a feud with The motherf***ing Rock is enough to send shivers down my spine.

Rock had his game face on, and he's the only guy on the roster to make daft and obnoxious things somehow ludicrously funny.
Punk playing the "draw out a promo that doesn't say much after the first five minutes to annoy fans" card didn't bother me either, it made Rock coming out a big deal.
The fact the Rock put over how damned good Punk is, and thought enough of it to hit the Rock Bottom on him makes this match something I NEED to see live, and I will, oh I will.

I loved how Punk kept on saying "I'm going to kick your ass!" at the RR and because he is the best in world. I believed him, he showed so much inflection and emotion in his voice when he said it. Just incredible stuff, I can't remember being this excited for a PPV since Extreme Rules 2012 Best promo of 2013 (so far ) and it will be interesting to see if anything defeats it

You believed everything both of them were saying. Unlike Cena/Rock where it was like two jocks trying to one up each other every week.

Just watched it again and I didn't read this whole thread, but I imagined this was brought up, the boxing with God line and Rock having no response with the crowd going oooooohhhh was f***ing awesome.

It was and it was the final bit of cement needed to solidify Punk at the top. That moment to me should have been the "move over Cena" moment it probably never will be.

You should watch it a third time. Here is Rock's direct response to the boxing with God line: "You may think that The Rock is 'boxing with God', but The Rock knows for a fact that you are going one-on-one with The Great One..." Then he goes on to put over CM Punk's 414-Day reign and reiterates that his 'time's up' come the RR before going into that 'strip nekkid in front of the mirror' shtick... so I forgive you if you erased it from your memory but The Rock definitely did not leave that line hanging. FWIW the 'Almond Joy' line The Rock said got MUCH louder 'OHHH's than the 'boxing with God' line, and let's not even talk about the crazy pop for the Rock Bottom at the end of the show. The Rock 1. CM Punk 0. IMHO.
