I'll go with liked it. Punk was incredible, Rock was terrible. Forgive me if that sounds smarky or whatever but that's two years in a row that the supposed best promo guy ever has been outclassed. But yes, to go with the thread tile as a segment as a whole I liked it.
'Your arms are too short to box with God' That line will be repeated for a long time.

'Your arms are too short to box with God" is the best line I've heard in a long ass time.

Punk busting out the Wu Tang line blew me away.
"Arms too short to box with God"
He killed Rocky tonight.

Rock could have done better. I know he's more than capable of doing it. But I guess they needed to establish this year's "Fruity Pebbles" right off the bat.
Punk brought it, to the surprise of no one.

THIS is what Rock/Cena should have been.

They both rambled their same old tired routines until it was time for the show to end. So I am neutral towards it for now. Yuuup.

I don't know how to grade it overall. For one, I loved what Punk was saying throughout (including before Rock came out). On the other hand, I'm getting tired of Rock's shtick. I thought he was going somewhere near the end, before he told Punk to strip naked. Also, the cookiepuss shit got old quickly, though it really get over with the crowd, so I guess that worked.

It amazes me people are beating down on Rock but giving Punk a pass despite not really saying anything new.

Oh and on a personal level - I didn't like the first half of Punk's promo, especially the part with the forced ad break. It was like "Uhhh yeah sure." 'Your arms are too short to box with God" is the best line I've heard in a long ass time. I'm only disappointed that wasn't met with "IT DOESN'T MATTER IF MY ARMS ARE TOO SHORT TO WRESTLE WITH GOD."

My main thought on the promo: My God, the WWE audience will literally chant anything that Rock tells them to, and I just don't understand why.
Aside from that, a nice first round. Hopefully they keep it up over the next two weeks.

EVERYTHING AS A WHOLE, NO WINNERS OR LOSERS
This is how this should be viewed, if you ask me. If there's a winner and a loser, that means someone wasn't holding up their end of the deal, and the segment probably suffered as a result. That's what I LOATHED about the build of Rock/Cena - making one of them look better than the other ended up bringing that down as a whole, and it was so much talking with NO action that I was waiting for them to make out in the middle of the ring. As for this segment? Loved it. Loved loved loved. Both guys looked great. Not perfect by any stretch (both had some misses - Rock's instinctive juvenile insulting, Punk's promo beforehand going a little long for my liking even though it was great - just droned the hell on after a while), but consider me hyped up. Shame it's only going to be a match at the SECOND biggest event of the year, but golden boy's gotta have his spot.

"Your arms are too short to box with God"
What does Punk even mean by that? Is he saying the he is God. I thought there was no God, Punk. Are you saying the cage was in fact, 30 feet? If Punk is God, why was he dressed like the devil back at Hell in the Cell? I thought Foley was God. Are you saying the Rock can't box with Mick Foley. No wait, Foley is Santa Claus. ARE YOU SAYING THERE'S NO SANTA CLAUS???!!!!

I think there were moments when Cena/Rock felt this exciting,
It's just they suffered from having, well a year but, realistically about two months week in-week-out to drag it all out and by that stage you realized Rock and Cena are basically the same immature but grown up Jock character anyway.
with Punk/Rock it's different. They have a short build with a goal in sight. That gives it pace, and pace is good. Plus their characters are polar opposites, and it's working so well right now.

It was good. I just can't enjoy the Rock. Every time I think he's about to hunker down and get serious with this, it turns out he was just setting up for another punchline. I know both of them were essentially repeating that they were gonna kick each other's asses in different ways, but the way Rock goes about it is just so damn annoying to me. I just prefer the believability in Punk's promos than the over the top catchphrasiness of the Rock. It's just exhausting.

Loved it!
I really enjoy both the rock and cm punk for different reasons. One is the over the top larger then life sports entertainer (The Rock) and the other a serious straight talking wrestler (Cm Punk). The promo proved neither feared each other and in their own way threw verbal hand grenades and it just worked!
Can't wait to enjoy the lead up to the rumble and even more hope this leads to a larger build and blow off at Mania

My main thought on the promo: My God, the WWE audience will literally chant anything that Rock tells them to, and I just don't understand why. Because it's FUN. Believe it or not, not everyone needs a "pipebomb"/quasi-shoot to be entertained. There's nothing wrong with being a little silly in a business that reached its most successful point by being silly and over-the-top. Rock made a career out of his jokes, and he wouldn't be "The Rock" without them. In fact, give me Rock calling Punk "Popeye on crack" over Punk's entire 20-minute rambling.

I actually think Rock's juvenile stuff fits as its exactly the thing Punk hates, and Rock does it partially because he knows the people love it, and in a sense works as a dig against Punk; "I'm going to get the people to chant cookiepuss, but you know what, I'll still kick your ass."
