I thought this was great. Both sides had points that fell flat with certain audiences, which makes the feud feel even better. Punk's "good wrestlers like Tyson Kidd" points fell really flat with people who watch wrestling for the ridiculous over the top stuff, while Rock's stuff did the opposite.... Interesting point. Funny enough though I am a guy who loves wrestling for the ridiculous over the top stuff, but I fully sided with Punk tonight and marked out for the Tyson kidd mention. Anyway I though the encounter was epic and am ready to throw all my money at the Royal Rumble PPV. I am super excited now

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say that the "arms too short to box with God" line was insane. We got this w/ Rock & Cena in short bursts (the "notes on your wrist" comes to mind), but the overall build was weak. This has me so hyped up & it's only been one night. I really hope that the 'E just decides to ape this build when they do Rock/Cena II. Bring on January 27th.

My main thought on the promo: My God, the WWE audience will literally chant anything that Rock tells them to, and I just don't understand why. Because it's FUN. Believe it or not, not everyone needs a "pipebomb"/quasi-shoot to be entertained. There's nothing wrong with being a little silly in a business that reached its most successful point by being silly and over-the-top. Rock made a career out of his jokes, and he wouldn't be "The Rock" without them. In fact, give me Rock calling Punk "Popeye on crack" over Punk's entire 20-minute rambling. If you say so. In my opinion, there's nothing funny or witty about 'Fruity Pebbles', 'Cookiepuss' or 'Lady parts', and considering how often people shit all over guys like Cena, Miz and Sheamus for trying to be humorous in their promos, it makes me wonder why they're willing to indulge Rock's own lame brand of humor as gracefully as they have been.

Because of his delivery. He believes the stupid shit he says. Remember Sheamus' duel with Punk where Sheamus lost confidence in what he was saying and then got destroyed? How many times has Cena said something dumb sheepishly?

Rock, Cena, even Punk. All those guys are corny at times. If anyone is giving Rock a pass, its because they are die hard Rock fan.

I'm already tired to death of every board going nuts over him using a line he didnt actually make up acting as if he originated it, but aside from that it's pretty damn exciting. Unlike a lot, I always enjoy seeing The Rock, and actually feel he came off stronger than Punk, punk replying to the Rock with the "Im gunna kick yer ass" stuff just seemed so transparent and sad, given the size of the rock. He's not even the first wrestler to use it in the last 12 months (Samoa Joe used it after obliterating someone in the BFG Series a few months back), but that doesn't make it less awesome. Great delivery of a great line that works great with Punk's delusional character.

They were using the trick angle again, but he didn't look that much smaller than the Rock. Yeah, Rock's gassed up but he was gassed up when he was in the ring with Cena, where they used the same angle. Yeah, I guess if you were staring at the size of Rock's biceps, but biceps don't win fights.

I don't know about other people, but I personally don't hate Cena and Sheamus for what they do and I understand why they do it. And I understand why The Rock does it. It's not about being serious, it's all about being entertaining and charismatic. Rock is both of those things, which is why his promos work.

Liked it. Everything Punk said was good, if a little generic. I like when he calls out specific events or wrestlers. The Rock was pretty good, better than with Cena. Horrible "cookiepuss" thing, but Punk jumped on the chance to call everyone puppets. So far, they're selling it like Punk could beat the Rock, which is more than I expected (I had low expectations)

When the thing most people are talking about is a line stolen from a rap song, it's hard to be impressed.

When the thing most people are talking about is a line stolen from a rap song, it's hard to be impressed. Ill take The Rock naming every single thing in the Encyclopedia Britannica and making up ways to shove it up someones ass, over stolen rap lines being hailed as amazing original content anyday.

When Rock and Cena can come out and say near identical things and Rock gets praised for being funny while Cena is killed for being a juvenile ass, it seems that way. Granted there is a lot more to it than that but I've seen that on here for years and it was real bad last year.

Well, I actually like Cena/Miz/Sheamus so I might not be the best person to answer this but what sets Rock apart from the others is that he believes the bullshit he says so intensely he transports you to this different reality where his insanity almost makes sense. This undying faith in meaningless words is also why he's a Hollywood actor and Cena is...let's not go there. It's perfectly valid to dislike the way an actor delivers a certain line but love the way another actor delivers the very same line. There's no need to go attacking people who like The Rock's stuff bro, relax, let's all be a big happy family. Whether you like the stuff Rock says or not, it's pretty hard to argue his delivery isn't amazing. It's pure emotion without a hint of self-awareness and that just really gets to people.
