The all time greatest replacement: Ringo Starr.
Honestly I'm not sure if I've ever heard any of the original drummers with the Beatles but Ringo just fit like a glove.

Iron Maiden - Bruce Dickinson over Paul Di'Anno Dickinson is brilliant.

Star Trek- William Shatner over Jeffrey Hunter. "The Cage" is an interesting piece of pop culture history, but the cast really did not have much chemistry. Star Trek without the trio of Kirk, Spock and McCoy just would not have worked.

Eric Singer replacing Peter Criss in...'04, I think. Singer is just a far better drummer than Criss could ever hope to be (IMO), especially considering how much Criss was phoning it in towards the end of his run. Technically, that should be Singer replacing Carr - but that's hardly a fair example all things considered. So, Singer replacing Criss it is. Can I add Carr replacing Criss? No disrespect to Peter, but Eric Carr was a monster on the drum set. Also (unrelated to Kiss, now), I prefer Greg Puciato over Dmitri in The Dillinger Escape Plan. I prefer Howard Jones over Jesse Leech in Killswitch Engage. For movies, Daniel Craig over Pierce Brosnan.

Hagar replacing Roth. God I hate Roth. Terrible singer, crappy lyrics, however a great frontman.

Also, I know I can't really judge because I've not seen her wrestle, but Kaitlyn is certainly a lot hotter than that giant woman she replaced on NXT, so I'll give her a nod.

Mila Krunes over Lori Allen as Meg Griffen
Here is another one none of you thought about yet.
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic over any other MLP cartoon that came before it. Though I love Rescue At Midnight Castle.

A page and a half with no mention of Becky swap on Roseanne? They even lampooned with duet dance during the closing credits

I don't know if it was better, but Guy would mostly be known for Damion Hall being the other member as opposed to Tim Gatling. Tim Gatling is probably the forgotten member of Guy and he was actually on the cover of their first album.
Also, Michelle Williams replacing both LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson in Destiny's Child. What's funny is how people mostly remember Michelle Williams being a member for the last two albums of Destiny's Child and a lot seem to forget the original two who were on the first two albums.
By the way, I read how after LeToya and LaTavia departed from the group, there was another woman named Farrah Franklin who didn't last long at all. The only two who were there from the beginning to the end were Beyonce and Kelly Rowland.

Mila Krunes over Lori Allen as Meg Griffen Lori Allen was Diane Simmons who was the former female newscaster. Mila Kunis replaced Lacey Chabert as Meg Griffin. I'd do all three women. Also I want to ditto Mike Nelson over Joel and Jefferson over Steve on Married with Children. and Jon Stewart is better to me than Craig Kilborn as is Craig Ferguson over Kilborn on the late, late show.

I would say Jefferson was an improvement over Steve on Married, With Children. That said, it was also different, so maybe it was apples and oranges. I preferred the slapstick of Jefferson over the straight-man Steve, so it's not just you. Also have to agree with Hagar. Can't stand Roth or his version of VH.

Charles Winchester taking over the lead antagonist role from Frank Burns on M*A*S*H. Apples and Oranges. I think Winchester fits in better with the themes later MASH explored but Linville's performance was incredible and the was the linchpin for the rest of the cast in the early MASH seasons. There was nothing incredible about Burns. He wasn't funny. He was a weak, ineffective foil for the other characters. He was so pathetic there was no sense of satisfaction when he would get his comeuppance. Winchester was his superior in every way.

No disrespect to Peter, but Eric Carr was a monster on the drum set. Completely agreed. Truth be told, I've never been a huge fan of Peter's drumming. Talented? Absolutely. Important to the band? Absolutely. I just think that KISS eventually found much better drummers, especially for their sound.

I'll do three game show versions.
Starcade: Geoff Edwards saved the day and replaced Mark Richards who was a really dull, uninteresting guy when doing the show and didn't look like he cared about doing the show at all. He's also a game show schyster. Just look up the video about his game show school and how much he charges.
American Gladiators: Larry Czonka over both Joe Theismann and Todd Christensen.
Tic Tac Dough: Wink Martindale over the original hosts of the 50s. Wink made that show his own, especially with his hat choices and the help of some very memorable contestants.

He was so pathetic there was no sense of satisfaction when he would get his comeuppance. Winchester was his superior in every way. Larry Linville was a better victim in the early episodes that played more like slapstick comedy. David Ogden Stiers was a better foil for Hawk and BJ in the later episodes when the slapstick was turned down. Yes, it is apples and oranges, but Linville was a blast as a character you loved to hate. He even managed to be sympathetic at times.
