I like Howard and Bernadette on The Big Bang Theory, but I do agree everyone else is just so unlikeable.

Does Skyler count at a protagonist in Breaking Bad? I'd say so, and yes I'd agree that she's damn unlikeable (or at least becomes such over the course of the show).

Everyone in Blue Dragon the anime bar Shu and Kluke. The rest are truly awful. The video game version of Marumaro was not a creepy little pervert, nor did Zola didnt turn out to be an evil witch. Even Jiro was a prick when he was a just an innocent, nice kid in the game version.

The whole cast of Big Bang Theory Just because... Even Raj? Like Howard, he has no respect for boundaries or women in general. He can't talk to them unless he's drunk, and when he's drunk he can't go more than ten seconds without making creepy unwanted advances or just being an obnoxious shithead. Honestly, the only main characters on that show that I actually like are Amy and Bernadette.

Snape was a dick at times but, I couldn't help but sympathise with him solely because James Potter was a bigger dick yet got away with it. He was an arrogant, bullying, cocky little toerag who was seemingly loved by everyone and targeted Snape just because he was a Slytherin and was poor. I couldn't stand James Potter. James was a douche, but he had the excuse of being a teenager. Snape was far worse and got both James and Lily killed, then made their son's life a misery for the most part. JK Rowling tried to shoehorn a face turn into the series by having Snape praised after his death and even going as far as naming one of Harry's kids after him. This. So much this. Also, let us not forget that Snape's strained relationship with Lily is all his own doing as well. Had he not joined up with Voldemort's followers and called Lily a mudblood, he likely would have ended up with her. It wasn't until after he did that Lily and James got together, and that suggests to me that James did a lot of growing up whereas Severus just harbored a grudge and displaced his bitterness onto innocent children.

another for the pile; Gundam Seed Destiny ere Kira Yamato went from being a likeable, relateable little scamp to being a smug, sanctimonious douche whose meddling actions should've gotten everyone killed and only didn't because he'd been turned into a stand-in for the author.
I'm also putting Wolverine out there, but only for recent years. I always thought his constant hitting on Jean long after she got married turned him into a creeper. because of inconsistent writing he's presented as a nice father figure in one book and more than happy to murder a 12 year old girl in another. and the sad thing is, he should be NEITHER of those things. I miss the badass canuck samurai with a chip on his shoulder who flat out would tell you he has no business leading anything. I barely recognize his current personality at all.
I also despise Kitty Pryde and wish she'd been left on that magic space bullet. she wasn't so bad when she first joined the team as the adorably precocious new kid, but Claremont turned her over time into a huge mary sue without any flaws or relateability at all, and Wheddon made it worse by making her unbearably smug. as far as Wolverine's kid sidekicks go, Jubilee and Armor are both way better.
I'm also going to add that I love Batman but for whatever reason he seems to be the easiest Superhero around to write badly.

Sam Winchester. Dean returns from Hell completely traumatized from years of demonic torture, and Sam whines about how Dean doesn't immediately trust Sam's demonic bestie. Dean goes missing and a demon heavily hints that he's in Purgatory, Sam doesn't give a crap and trots off without trying to find him, then has the gall to be mad about it when Dean isn't immediately over it.
I've never watched a main character who was so heavily praised for his sensitivity and intelligence act like such an absolute douchebag. I liked the character early on, but I've stopped watching the show because he makes me rage whenever I turn it on.

As great as Robert Downey Jr. is as Iron Man, Tony Stark is kind of a materialistic, shallow prick. I think it's just built into the movie version of the character. He is likable in the sense that he's charming and has loads of charisma and a good sense of humor, but he's also a self-involved douche bag who I was rooting against in Iron Man 2. Well, in Iron Man 2, it was obvious he had no real idea how to handle he was dying from his suit, and Black Widow did manipulate him a couple of times. I mean, he is a jerk, no question, but not unlikeable, more flawed.

Maybe that's just the point and I just don't connect with show's awkward, cringy comedy but I found Michael, Dwight, Pam, and Jim to all be annoying on The Office.
Connor on Angel really hurt the fourth season for me.
Almost everyone on Glee is annoying at least half the time. Granted that is part of the show-their screw-ups, personality clashes, and foibles but sometimes the annoyness gets to be too much and some of it isn't on purpose.
Horatio on CSI Miami- annoying voice, stupid shades, always heavy and overly dramatic. Ugh
Jack on Will and Grace got better later in the show when he actually got a job. Before that he was just a dimwitted, shallow sponge.

Question, is bland an unlikeable trait in characters? Everyone in Prometheus. I'm glad they're dead. This. 110%.

I'll never understand for the life of me why the hell they chose such a fat, whiny loser as the main character in Return to Sleepaway Camp.

I was going to say Tidus. And don't get me wrong, I still don't like him.
But having recently played Tales Of The Abyss, even though I'm probably just starting the 2nd third of the game... oh Luke. Oh Luke, I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! You're an abusively obnoxious little rich punk who's been sheltered his entire clone life (and what's that for a pathetic backstory?), has absolutely no backbone or will and is a MASSIVE douche when he gets some sort of reponsible position.
No matter how good the writing is for the rest of the game, I doubt I will hate him less than I do now.

She has some great facial expressions, and her chemistry with Jim Parsons is fantastic. That's what ultimately saves the show. The cast is great, even when the writing isn't.

Rewatching Game of Thrones before season 3 starts, remembering how annoying Daenerys can be.
Also Jon "THE NOBLE VIRGIN!" Snow.
