Got to love the guys making fun of the girls looks. I guarantee you nobody on this board (Including myself) could pull someone as beautiful as Velvet Sky. That's definitely not an insult to anyone on this board but she is model esque and it isn't fair to call her ugly or a "transvestite" Again this board doesn't understand that the appeal of KnockOuts is looks alone. Velvet Sky doesn't need to be a great worker she's HOT that's all 90% of fans care about with women's wrestlers. Ever fans of SHIMMER, SHINE etc are there because the women are hot (Although they won't really admit it) Sex sells, Nobody really wants to see a great wrestling match from a man or a woman anymore. Wrong. Wrong, wrong wrong. Who made you the authority on beauty? What different people consider attractive is 100 percent subjective. It doesn't matter if someone here is single, or in a relationship. And it also doesn't matter if you think Velvet Sky is beautiful if someone else doesn't. I think the prettiest woman to work in TNA in the past 5 years was Taylor Wilde, but a lot of people didn't. I don't begrudge them for that, and I don't expect them to see her the same way. Different people are attracted to different things. I am, on the other hand, not even slightly attracted to Velvet. Does that make my opinion less valid? Of course not. It's a subjective opinion. Did you know? A period in which TNA drew among its highest consistent ratings came from when the KO's were emphasized as the main product as wrestlers first, and when the division was spearheaded by Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, Taylor Wilde, and when Velvet Sky (and similar workers) were on the periphery. Sex does sell, but that sex is null and void if it's not backed up by anything substantive. In WWE a few years ago, Melina and Mickie James were as over as any other women in the company, easily. Sure, Kelly Kelly or Maryse could get a good entrance pop, but once that was done, fans sat on their hands for the remainder of the matches they were in. Actual wrestling skills keep fans invested in the matches. It's the same reason why "Generic Bodybuilder #8592" doesn't get them any audience excitement, but the guys like Bryan and Punk do.

Ever fans of SHIMMER, SHINE etc are there because the women are hot (Although they won't really admit it) Sex sells, Nobody really wants to see a great wrestling match from a man or a woman anymore. 100% Rubbish. Velvet is a "hottie" that is for sure, however, she has varied tastes like anyone else. This board is populated with many thoughtful, hard working guys. A lot of them go to the gym, some of them are actually wrestlers themselves, and a few might even be what you'd call model-esque. No reason FAN's userbase wouldn't have a chance with Velvet. 4chan, this is not. The appeal of the knockout is not based purely on looks alone. If that were the case people wouldn't really care to watch them at all, they'd just look up better looking models and porn stars on the net. What guys like you seem to never get is that Hot Women + Action is the magic combo. And if the women put on exciting matches that tell a story that goal is accomplished to an even greater degree. I never put down the members of this board I'm saying that Velvet is a semi famous attractive woman and that she'd be way out of anyones league on here. I'm sure there's attractive members who work hard and have a good living I'm just making a point that the guys poking fun at how she looks probably wouldn't have a shot with her. It's also a shame that we as a community need to put down someone we don't find attractive. I don't find Tara attractive but would I put her down? No way. I can see why guys may find her attractive. As for the comment about models and porn stars that may be true but guys want hot girls in everything they watch. Football? Cheerleaders. Game Shows? Usually beautiful women. News? Beautiful women 9 times out of 10. TV Shows? Hot girls. Movies? Hot girls. Commercials? Hot girls. Sex sells and everybody knows it. If TNA neglected the sex side of wrestling they'd lose a lot of the audience. Your final comment, What smarks don't realize today is that fans of wrestling don't care about how well someone works. Exciting matches don't matter anymore your average fan that tapes a TNA Show is probably going to skip to the end of each match. All the fans remember is the finish. People want to be entertained whether that's via a freak, a story line, a sexy woman a promo etc etc. Yes they may care for a high spot or two but Velvet Sky coming out on Impact in a bikini means more to the audience than Kurt Angle and AJ Styles having a good match. That's just how it is. (I've numbered your points in the quoted message for simplicity) 1. Prove it. 2. Not at all, just a fact that all the all time great female personalities end up in the mix with the guys as it opens up avenues storyline wise. 1. You can take it for what it's worth, but she does sell a lot of stuff. I've personally watched her outsell male stars at meet and greets. I've watched her be the last person with a line on many occasions. I do have a question. Not just for you but for a few of you. What is with all the hatred? I mean she's not good in the ring. You guys act like she is the first of last subpar wrestler. I just don't get the heated disdain for her. Did she turn you guys down for a date or something? I would 100% listen to this poster on this one. He clearly knows what he's talking about. Velvet is going to sell merchandise. I've been to shows where attractive indy girls have massive lines. Velvet is a "name" wrestler and is hot. Guys are going to pay to see her based on the fact she's hot. Nothing more nothing less 95% of guys don't even care if she wrestles she could turn up and look pretty. Ring work does not matter in 2013. I'm not sure she sells as much as Jeff Hardy but you have to think the hot blonde is going to sell a lot of pictures. Some of the comments on here are really disturbing though. One poster going nuts saying she doesn't deserve an income? C'mon...I haven't liked wrestlers before and I'm vocal about it but that's just a cruel thing to write about her. Sure she isn't great in the ring but she brings something to the table. A real fan would at least be able to admit that. And yes, it does seem like a lot of you on here who are genuinely angry at Velvet personally have a bone to pick with her or people like her.

I'm with Sor.
It's clearly she's not Dean Malenko. The personal hatred is a bit strange though. Some people are posting like she did something to them on a personal level.

It doesn't matter if you're attracted to Velvet or not I didn't say you had to be but you surely understand why people find her attractive right? I mean she has good features you might not be into them but you can recognize why some guys would be into her I'm sure. People calling her ugly or a transvestite aren't just unattracted to her that's some serious hate going on. 2. I hate that "Knockouts were big ratings in 07" argument. They weren't. The rating's just didn't change TNA could throw Wes Brisco and Garrett Bischoff into a main event on Impact and the rating wouldn't change does that make both of them big stars who can draw? No. Also, Kong isn't hot but look at who she was feuding with. Gail Kim is a model. Taylor Wilde is hot enough to be a model and as is Angelina Love. If you look at all the TNA KnockOuts past and present all of them except maybe Kong and ODB are attractive enough to be models or already are models. 3. You're naming 2 guys in the past 20 years who have got over on being good wrestlers. Bret Hart is another one but look at the biggest stars of the wrestling business. A top 5 would probably be Hogan, Rock, Austin, Cena and Ric Flair. Out of those 5 the only great "wrestler" from a smark perspective is Ric Flair and he had a superstar look plus microphone ability. Wrestling matches matter to smarks that's it. A 60 minute CM Punk Vs Daniel Bryan does absolutely nothing for the average wrestling fan. Same with TNA. Fans don't want to see 2 girls go out and have a 15 minute classic they want to see some eye candy for 5-6 minutes and have them go away. Velvet's perfect for that role hence the push/job

Fans don't want to see 2 girls go out and have a 15 minute classic they want to see some eye candy for 5-6 minutes and have them go away. Velvet's perfect for that role hence the push/job I see why people consider Velvet attractive. I also see why people don't. Not everybody thinks she's hot. Not everybody thinks she's up to par on her looks, or that she's even on "model" quality. Some people think she's ugly. And as heavily as she's pushed on looks, they've got a right to object to that. The ratings weren't big in 2007; that's before the KO reforms happened. The ratings were improved in 2008, and in 2009, for the Knockouts' segments. That changed when the Knockouts were shifted to the "eye candy" role that rating boost immediately declined. This isn't obscure information. Go look up compartmentalized ratings threads from 2008 and 2009 in this section if you don't believe me. It's there. Wrestling matches matter to a lot of fans. Go back to Melina and Mickie James. There's a reason why Kelly Kelly and Maryse couldn't maintain interest when their matches started, but those two wrestlers I gave examples of could. Looks are important, and being attractive (as Gail, Taylor, etc. prove) doesn't hurt one bit. It can help out a lot. But looks sure aren't everything. You're also incorrect with how the wrestlers you named are viewed here. Austin is considered by most to be a great wrestler, well-rounded in his abilities. He didn't wrestle like a technician, but his style was well-paced and got crowds into his matches. Very much the same with The Rock. Also true with Cena (People here aren't big Cena fans, but it's not because they think he "sucks," it's because he's been "the" guy for eight years running now). And Hogan? He wasn't very good, but that was nearly 30 years ago. Wrestling fans' tastes have changed dramatically from that time period, when steroid-using muscleheads were king. And please, stop talking about "smarks." It's not 2005 anymore. Your views of what wrestling fans (internet and otherwise) think about wrestling match quality and the perfomers are misinformed, and outmoded.

I know it's planned, but I'm confused why did she slap him again? Was it due to a fan critiquing a professional on how to do their job or was it something else? How does that make sense kayfabe wise?

I'd wager she slapped him because the HOST asked her to. As somebody who used to dabble in radio it's not uncommon for a DJ to try and create a buzz with something like that. You can see his sheer excitement the second he gets slapped. He can't contain his smile. You can also see he is waiting for the slap. You know what I see in that video? Velvet and Lethal doing a radio appearance. Velvet being a good sport and playing the heel to get the DJ over.

I'm with Sor. Some people are posting like she did something to them on a personal level. I'm not sure whether I should post this or not, but here goes... My friend used to date her when she was known as Talia Madison. My friend was an indy wrestler, and believes she was with him to get on some wrestling cards to secure the $30 she needed for the elaborate stripper costumes she wears. Anyway, my friend ended up dumping her one night. I remember pretty much word for word the story he told me leading up the dump: She was round his house one night having a chat, and she said she needed to use the loo. So off she went. My friend said he could hear her having a massive dump - and she was making straining sounds with her throat whilst she was doing it. My friend asked her if she was OK. "Yeah, I'll be fifteen minutes" she replied. My friend was all like, WTF, 15 minutes? You've already been in there for ten... So she comes out and they resume chatting... and that's when he remembered... he didn't replace the loo roll. There she was having a massive sweaty dump, and there was no tissue to wipe up with. What the f*** did this dirty bitch do? He noticed there was all poo around her hands! This filthy animal wiped her own but clean with her bare hands - her bare f***ing hands - and didn't even wash them. She was holding a cup and now there was all poo on that. She turned the TV channel so now there was all poo on the remote - she even stroked the dog which was now poo covered - they had to put the dog down the next day as it caught something from her. The final straw was when she started to pick some sweetcorn out of her teeth with her poo covered hands. My friend got up and said, "Listen you filthy piece of trash, I know you're a poo toucher and I think it's disgusting. Get the f*** out of my house, delete my number then wash your hands. And practice your f***ing wrestling because you're beyond awful" Taylor got up, walked out (rudely without saying goodbye) and walked down the road. My friend said he saw her the next day on a street corner looking rough, with the poo still on her hands, little by little being washed away with her tears. Let the pigeons loose? No thank you. Just wipe your ass when you take a dump.

Why are people talking about the benefits of her employment and citing examples of long lines at convention signings (as if this was a practical business model or something) when this was simply a discussion about the merits of her inside the ring?

Apples, meet my friend oranges. The OP asked how she can be so bad. Several people explained that "she can be so bad" because the crowd reacts to her and and a draws an impressive number of fans for somebody in her position. Most people agree she in sub par in the ring, but above average in other aspects of being successful in wrestling.

If that's the case, who needs talent when you've got a great rack?

Let's steer this topic back on course before it get locked by the Mods.
Velvet is like Tim Tebow. They are considered sweethearts and humanitarians outside of their jobs. People love them. But for the main job they perform for a living, they struggle and aren't that good at it. But criticizing them opens you up from attacks from their hardcore fanbase. Velvet had done fundraisers for various wrestling folks like Shane Helms. She takes the time to talk to fans after shows. She probably does his the longest autograph line. She might sell a good amount of merch. But that is all moot to her wrestling abilities in the ring. I don't care that she's hot so give her a pass from doing haphazard wrestling moves. I consider the Ultimate Warrior as a legend but his wrestling skills was the drizzling shits. I still like the crazy bastard but I know that wrestling wasn't his strong suit. So you can like Velvet but know she isn't going to wow you with her wrestling ability. But please note others don't share the same mentality. So in conclusion: she's a sweetheart outside the ring but in the ring, she's awful.

Chairman of The Board, welcome to the board, but lighten up it was clearly a joke. You as a new poster, you not holding my opinions in high regards is very upsetting to me. What can I do to make it up to you? Let's play hide and seek... you go hide first... But before you do, congratulations on reading the topic title, now read the opening post within said topic, Dear OP was referencing her work straight after her disastrous match with Mickie James. If you are going to post, it would help if you read things and don't assume direction from titles.
