last thread hit 30, time to start anew. Yeah, I think assuming that one style of art will sell better than another isn't the way to go. Hard to say what will catch with readers - a lot of times its just the right pairing of artist/writer/franchise for the Big 2. In this case it looks like Capt Marvel's rebounded slightly with the new artist, but that can change with the wind in comics. I still probably won't read it though! haha I think the days of a book selling based entirely on artwork are dying out, if not dead.

I disagree.
I can put up with a bad storyline if the book looks ok, but cant face the other way round at all

I disagree. I can put up with a bad storyline if the book looks ok, but cant face the other way round at all To me it is the opposite story is literally the only thing that matters (as long as the art isn't terrible beyond words). I approach comic books as if I'm reading a novel and I approach the art is if it exists as a guide for me to absorb and then reinterpret in my mind rather than the art being the definitive vision of whats going on.

Dont get me wrong, the writing is obviously important, but I can put up with a bad twist or a couple of filler issues a lot more than I can 'bad' art.

Art I didn't care for us had me not read stories I was otherwise interested in.
Also prevented good stories from becoming more. Years ago, Earth X was a good story/great concept, and while I liked it, the art was dire. Was doubly bad cuz you'd have Alex Ross covers then open up to SHITTY art.

Went to the three closest comic shops this afternoon after I ended up spending less on my SD ticket than I had expected... caught some good $1 box finds:
Uncanny X Force #25 Daredevil #25 (current volume) Young Avengers #1 (current volume, first printing) Thunderbolts #2 (current volume, first printing)
Also, at the main comic shop I go to (my last stop for the day), I started getting curious about what was the first appearance of Winter Soldier... I got two possible answers at the shop, looked through what they had and found both, then went home and looked it up and am not really finding any unanimous choice. Is it Captain America vol. 5... issue 1, 6, 11, or 14 or something else entirely?
Edit: ^ agreed on Earth X.

JLA 5 spoiler, {Spoiler}Gotta love all the hype for killing off a JLA member not to mention the latest JLA cover referencing it being completely undone in like 5 pages...
I mean we all knew it wasn't going to last but come on...
though i suppose they did start the first book with arrow saying he was going to die and that didnt happen...
so if they do kill someone else and make it "stick" (as much as any comic book death sticks anyway...)
I think it's going to be either MM or Steve

Catwoman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. then she was taken to a better hospital, where her status was upgraded to "alive".

That might actually have been a better way to handle it then they actually did Also I just noticed the cover has the green lanterns hand on the coffin... Green lantern who isn't even part of the JLA yet...

Two great books by Marvel today.
First of Young Avengers, this book is, simply put, one of the best monthly titles going. I love it. I cannot find fault and just love each and every character. Even Prodigy, who I wasn't a fan of in the X books.
This intermission wasn't even filler, it's clearly set up, and it was great.
The art was catchy, and while I dont think it would work in the majority of books, it worked here because it was a light and friendly seeming story, and so the art matched that - but then captured that terror at the end well. It was certainly better than the over stylised pointy stuff that has infected Captain Marvel.
Really hope that Speed and Prodigy end up on the team proper - after all, if Prodigy really needs his powers back, he can just go visit with Speed's mum, she did it for Rictor after all. But it seems his memory granting him that combat expertise will make him fit as a new Patriot....which kinda begs the question whether that is Eli done and done? (I do hope so, I never, ever cared for the character or his story).
Enjoyed the Transonic cameo, and if she wasn't a speedster (yeah, she can also change shape and all, but generally to speed better) I'd love to see her join too. But if the choice is her or Tommy, while it leaves the team male heavy, I'd much rather him over her.
Alongside this we also had Age of Ultron 10 AI, which was an amazing little one shot.
I'm already a Pym fan, but this just made me love him even more.
It took a character that's been cursed and defined by one stupid panel decades ago and basically wrote a story that noted his mental health issues, but then moved way beyond to show that Hank is actually just a normal person trying to do good.
That humanity, so juxtaposed with Ultron's inhumanity is brilliant, and a really strong set up for the character going in to AI.
But yeah, I echo the wish that Wade was writing that, just because he did so well here with Pym and I have no real knowledge of this other guys work (which seems to be a good thing from the comments I've seen about his previous work, as at least I have no expectations from him based on that).
Unfortunately the two great books were let down by Bendis' Guardians of the Galaxy where I can't say I enjoyed seeing Gamora get her arse handed to her just because it seems a set up for trying to make me buy how Gamora is going to take a back seat to Angela when it comes to kick ass'ness in this title.
The rest of the issue was fine, I guess, even if pretty much nothing happened.
I just......I want to like this book because I want to support Marvel cosmic, but it's just so different to the last GotG book which I loved it's taking some getting used to the change in styles and the change in some characterisation. And I just want DnA back!

I knew very little about the Young Avengers characters going into this series (minus Loki), but it has become one of my favorites. Very well written and the art is great.

THINK TANK #8 from Image today - still one of the smartest comics on the shelf. Atomic Robo - the return of Doctor Dinosaur met, nay EXCEEDED all expectations. Robo's one of the most consistently entertaining comics.

Is anyone else really enjoying the new Morbius book? It's really good. Probably my favorite thing Marvel is putting out right now. I was also a huge fan of the series that was done in the mid 90s.
