I love how once you switch from amateur wrestling to scripted pro wrestling, it becomes ludicrous for a small guy to beat a big guy. Meanwhile that's what happens ALL over the globe ALL the time in amateur wrestling. And think of the movesets in amateur wrestling. Gee golly, imagine that, short people can be stronger than tall people. Get outta town, really?
Jesus.

Just out of interest what did you think about Rey winning the world titles?
(Not so much the reigns themselves as at least one of them is widely regarded as being terrible)

This argument is so terrible. Look at these two boxers for example: They are two of the most dominant and toughest in the world. Manny is 5'7", 144 pounds. Floyd is 5'8", 146. These guys are legitimately skilled bad asses who I have absolutely no trouble believing could knock some big dude out flat on their own terms. These are people who have been training as fighters their whole lives and take very good care of themselves. Now, take Floyd and Pacquiao and apply them to the exaggerated world of wrestling where all sorts of shenanigans are possible and I could 110% buy them being able to pull off the upset on a bigger man. Wrestling is all about suspension of disbelief, and Bryan's size is not one of those things that crosses the line into completely absurd. I mean, look how quickly Bryan moves and the force with which he'll lay kicks into people. The man is not throwing around flimsy offense. If you don't like Bryan, just say it. I'm a huge Bryan fan, but I respect Zaq for saying that Bryan wasn't his thing. He never gave any particularly insightful reasons -- just said he didn't like the guy -- but that's OK. It's a lot more honest and forthright than saying that he is too small when wrestling has proved time and time again that size has zero bearing on who wins. I mean, if I look at wrestling in reality, Lesnar absolutely clobbers Trips each time, but they didn't go that route. I disagreed with that decision, but not just because Triple H is not as intimidating or fearsome as Lesnar. They were trying to tell a story, and it's a story I didn't want to hear. Complain about the story or the booking or how awful Bryan's character is or something. There are a couple of gripes I'm thinking of that you could come up with and I'd totally buy. I love Bryan, but no wrestler is faultless.

Keep in mind that not everyone looks at wrestlers the same way. Roddy Piper was tiny and Hulk Hogan was huge, but because of the way they were booked, a lot of the time you realize just how big or how small they really were. Daniel Bryan's a guy who the general public may look at and think "This guy's your champion?" but they may not do that as well.
Personally, I like Bryan, but it wouldn't shock me if the casual fan doesn't see him as a legitimate WWE Champion. I keep looking at how bad SmackDown tanked when he was destroying The Shield in comparison to when he was heel champion running SmackDown and there's a clear preference in terms of face/heel just by looking at ratings and it was heel.
The point being that reactions in the crowd don't bring in money, they only enhance the ambiance and quality of the show. The fact of the matter is, half of the WWE audience probably never goes to a single show/are very old so if they don't see Bryan as being champion material, the ratings will show it and Vince will book accordingly.
And before everyone gets on me for being a "hater" I like the guy, I just don't think he should be beating Cena for the title.

If we're talking from a Kayfabe point of view, Cena teamed up with Ryback and Sheamus and couldn't beat the Shield. Bryan took them out by himself, something even Mark Henry couldn't do this week. I guess Kane and Orton were widdling their thumbs during that match. Not quite: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X-e1CVc310

It's all made up. It doesn't matter. If Bryan wins the thousands of people chanting his name and shouting YES! at every event wont suddenly stop and start chanting THIS IS HIGHLY IMPLAUSIBLE #CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP# they'll go apeshit and Cena wont have a dent in him. Everyone gets paid, people go home happy. Easy.

You know who's the same height as the midget Daniel Bryan? Danny Hodge.
No further questions.

In my experience, the longest running wrestling fans are often the most closed-minded. This thread is proof.

Man, if you thought Daniel Bryan's size was a detriment to this angle, you must have hated Bryan's late 2011 to early 2012 run where he took Mark Henry to his limit in a steel cage as a babyface, and then turned heel and got the best of both Henry and Big Show every single week.

I don't think Bryan's size is what makes it hard to believe he'll beat Cena. It's more... What the hell can he possibly do to beat him? Cena's not jobbing to a kick in the head, nor is he going down to the diving headbutt. And we all know he's not tapping, so about the only feasible way Bryan can win is with a small package or something, and I think I can count on one finger the times some variety of surprise pin made for a good finish (specifically, Owen vs. Bret at Mania 10).

Bryan pinning Cena? Yeah... I can see how that might not be convincing, even if it wasn't a flash pin. Bryan tapping Cena out? I could ABSOLUTELY believe him being able to do that. I can't believe ANYONE tapping Cena out unless he's about to undergo a massive gimmick change, what with the whole "NEVER GIVE UP" thing that's been emblazoned on his merch for years. Bryan using his small package to win would be the most plausible clean-ish victory I could see him pulling out. Just go the Austin/Hart route and have Bryan get Cena trapped and with nowhere to go, and instead of Cena tapping out, the ref stops the match after Cena passes out from the pain. ...I don't know why that finish isn't used more. It would get submission holds over without making the victims look like cowards.

I have no problem kayfabe wise believing that Daniel Bryan, with his speed, athleticism, kicks and submission knowledge could beat a guy like John Cena in a wrestling match. It may be a David v Goliath type scenario but I could even think of scenarios where Bryan could kick his ass in real life too.
I've been watching wrestling 24 years, apparently that means something.

I wonder if X-Pac ever got these kinds of complaints in the past. Everyone still took Razor Ramon seriously after the roll-up that made the 1-2-3 Kid, right? What about that time Kid pushed Bret to his limits and refused to accept a questionable pin because he respected him so much?

I wouldn't say tap out but Cena should not give up but just plain pass out and it makes Bryan a threat and Cena can keep his "Never Give Up" moniker

It's the Rey Mysterio theory. As long as they've got a great gimmick and crowds love them, you can book them as main eventers so long as they're as least as tall as he is.
For all you Hornswoggle haters, that would disqualify him, I'm sure.
