I was watching giant monsters in a fistfight and couldn't help thinking "This is just so dull".
Stop Legendary Pictures Now.

This is probably going to sound ridiculous but the 3D is totally worth it right? I'm a real stickler about what I will and won't see in 3D and for this one I'll have to drive 35 minutes to catch their once daily 3D show and I wanna make sure I wouldn't be better suited just catching an earlier screening.

I didn't find the 3D worth it. Felt too dark for me.

It was postconverted to 3D, don't bother. But if anyone has a chance to see this in Dolby ATMOS, I found it to be the best part of the whole experience. There are some parts where they really take advantage of it.

Well, after the big weekend, I would be disappointed if a sequel wasn't announced...

Godzilla raking in Kaiju stacks. Saw it a third time today with my little cousins, at zillas first appearance the 6 year jumped out of his seat and cheered. I hope legendary keeps spitting out these Kaiju films, 2000's has been so sad for my giant monster fix.

I think the only monster films in the 2000s to scratch my itch were Cloverfield and The Host, and The Host stretches it a bit(and thus why I said "monster films" instead of "Kaiju films") because The Host's monster is just so small..........at least for a monster movie monster. The 2010's have been much more kinder to me. Pacific Rim and Godzilla have been awesome and I hope to see a few more happen before the decade is over.

Warner Brothers have the film rights to Godzilla so it will be them or any other film company that jump on board that will be making any sequel. But who knows Legendary could still make a Kaiju film...if they acquire the rights for Gamera, Gappa or The X From Outer Space. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

There is already talk of a sequel, with the screenwriter suggesting he would line to do with Mothra what Chris Nolan did with the Joker by making it fit into the world the film has created.
And somewhere a three-headed dragon is shouting "Bullshit!!!"

Hearing that the people behind these are emulating Christopher Nolan helps a lot for locating my distaste with their decisions and choices.
I like Godzilla cause it's fun. I don't go to Godzilla for faux deep moody bullshit. I hate that I'll probably go to a two and a half hour "soo deep bro" sequel for 5 more minutes of fun stuff with Godzilla/

What Nolan did with Batman worked because it's f***ing Batman
The Nolan approach doesn't work with everything

Note-I suspect what they mean by the Nolan approach is that they will tailor Mothra to fit into the pre-set world this film created. In other words, no Mothra as an alien, no Mothra as a supernatural being, and no singing faeries.

I never realized there were so many fun and cool things about Mothra that would have to be shorn away to make her boring enough to limbo into this movie.

To fit into this film's continuity Mothra would simply be a pre-historic monstrosity rather than the benevolent goddess of a secret island summoned by the prayer of a pair of singing faeries. And would also probably have to look like an actual moth and hence, a lot less cute. So I say happily-bring on Rodan!

I'd say so. It looks incredible, although I'd agree that the 3D is really pointless for 90% of the film.

Yeah the 3D is pointless, but the giant screen and awesome sound system that comes with the IMAX experience is really good. Godzilla's chilled me to the bone, cause the booming sound system was actually making me shake a little.

I'm watching this version right now. I still think it's a decent movie. Nowhere near as bad as people say All Matthew Broderick movies are more enjoyable if you just pretend his character is Ferris Bueller having a wacky adventure. Except Inspector Gadget. Then it just becomes even sadder to watch. Even "Glory"?
