lol does he expect AJ compete for the WWE title? *glances down at sig* Nah, would never work... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) But yeah, I wanna know who the hell Meltzer is to judge AJ. They make fun of her in the back, fine, fair play, that's their prerogative. Meltzer's not part of that community, so who is he to call her a mark for taking pride in getting over enough to win the belt at all?

the belt was put on bikini models who knew a flashy move or two. Candice Michelle. Debra. Sable. Melina. Kelly Kelly. That kind of lineage speaks volumes of the care that the WWE women's division has had. Yeah, it's not like Melina was a wrestler who spent years on the indies before going to developmental, spending years there and then being one of the anchors in a wrestling-oriented division. Come on, you're seriously lumping her with Debra, Sable and Kelly? Were you even watching in 07, 08 or 09? Honestly I don't even think Candice deserves that dubious honor. At least she gave a damn, unlike those three. Melina wasn't that great and she ended up being crazy at the end of her WWE run. Sure, it didn't help that she was around when the only person who could work with her was Beth Phoenix, but still. Candice got better-ish. She'd have probably improved even more if she hadn't injured herself.

Whether you think she's a great wrestler, I'm not going to try and sway you there, but she did have some pretty well-received matches with Mickie James and Michelle McCool. Even if you don't think she was great, is she on the same level as three women who never really bothered to train or improve themselves, much less were nowhere near good enough to put on those kinds of matches? But...she wasn't crazy. She just takes wrestling very seriously. Very much like how AJ does. Are they overdoing it? I guess that's up to you to decide, but they certainly don't lack sincerity in their views, at the very least.

I'm sure I recognize you as the dude who defends Melina in any thread about her, so I'll take this discussion with a tiny grain of salt. But I can honestly say I never found Melina to be very crisp or refined in the ring. She had her moments, but so did Sable. Even Kelly did cool spots here and there. But not to the level of being called a great worker.

A young girl is a huge fan with a dream of winning the WWE's title for females, grows up and makes it come true. After all those years, through the hard work and challenges of that career, I'd imagine that was a hugely emotional milestone in her life. Making a dream a reality is probably the last thing I'd make fun of someone for getting a tattoo of.
And I don't believe those in power are laughing at her for taking pride in winning a "make believe pass around title". I remember Candice Michelle talking about the reaction she got when she walked backstage in tears after winning the Womens Title and she didn't mention anyone pointing and laughing at her crying over a "make believe pass around title". They were made up she took it that seriously. They won't be making fun of their current golden girl AJ for her tattoo.
And does Dave Meltzer ever proof read his writing ever?

After reaching her dream, something she wanted since she was like 12, and what was the end goal in her decision to start wrestling and all the hard work in between... she's a belt mark? Wait? What? ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/Icejon64/cm-punk-shock_o_GIFSoupcom.gif) There's really no nice way to say it... Mr. Meltzer, to quote the powerful Joe Rogan: "Suck my d*** stupid." ![](http://i.huffpost.com/gen/436510/thumbs/r-JOEROGAN-large570.jpg)

On MY internet forum? It's more likely than you think. If you're not big fan, that's cool. I'm not going to try to force you to think otherwise, like I already said. I just don't think it's fair to put someone who puts in that much work (no matter how much you may like or dislike them) in the same group with some of the worst people to hold that title. In order to steer this back on topic, this is pretty much a problem of a lot of criticisms of AJ, including this one. I've seen some people on here lump her with Random Bellas, Cameron, and Aksana. People who have nowhere near the level of training she does or have put in the same amount of work she has. And so, Meltzer calls her a "belt mark." He could've come off as nowhere nearly so ridiculous if he had said "She's taking the title a little too seriously, so she may want to do x." I think though--apart from everything else said in my post (so, don't think I'm trying to include you in this)--Meltzer seems to relish dumping on her here.

I get what he's saying, but I've got no issue with her marking an accomplishment of a goal. Seems petty to poke fun of her for that.

Jesus Christ, shut the f*** up Meltzer. You're opinions don't mean jack shit. You have decent inside sources but that's in. Your opinion isn't special so give it a rest.

I'm sure I make mistakes like all humans do, but I always re-read things to make sure what I've written is coherent. You make a fair point though. I've been thinking this for ages as I love the "random stuff from old observers" thread in (w)rest section (but I don't like to post in that thread in case it gives people false hope that the threads been updated). Considering writing is a big part of his job, some of his sentences are structured terribly.

It's another one of those self loathing aspects that comes up a lot in wrestling. You've got to be passionate about the business but not too much or you're a saddo.
It's very odd.

Out of proportion, all he said was that they might take advantage of her. He didn't say it was stupid, just odd, especially for the business she's in.

For a woman, the divas/womans title is the highest honor they can get. To them, it is like winning the world title. So if they are proud of holding that belt, let them be proud.
It doesn't matter who past champs were because if we can look at every big title, there is always someone who is a joke that won that title.
