Never paid for a bay movie after watching the abomination that was Transformer 1(even that,it was on tv). And i am glad.
I saw a few reviews,and while the Elevator scene is pretty funny,it does sound like the movie is a mess.

Some of the quirky behavior in the trailers looked funny (Mikey's random lines and the mind-blown bit, Donatello's freak out about the Foot soldiers having guns)......and to be fair it's Jonathan Liebesman, who made the rather enjoyable BATTLE LOS ANGELES and the I-shouldn't-have-liked-it-but-kinda-did WRATH OF THE TITANS, so you can kinda pretend it's not Bay...?

The origon story, they got rid of Himato Yoshi, he doesn't even excist, so Shredder obcession with Splenter and the Turtles is because ah....., take over the world. Instead Yoshi replaced with April's dad. Uggh. In other news, April's dad chose Hal Jordan to wear the Green Lantern Ring, April's dad sent the lightning bolt that caused the explosion in Barry Allen's lab, April's dad told Bruce Banner to rescue Rick Jones from the gamma explosion, April's dad told Reed Richards to assemble an outer space exploration team... |

I don't really get to go to the movies all that often, but have to say, Ninja Turtles is second only to Winter Soldier in movies I've most enjoyed at the theater this year.
I was OBSESSED with the show as a kid, and there were a lot of callbacks to the show and the original movies.
I don't really get why they hid the fact Shredder was played by a Japanese actor, with a lot of his dialogue actually in Japanese with English subtitles.

I saw it this afternoon. The theater was way more crowded than I thought it would be!
I liked the song Mikey sang at the end as their van drove away; nice little inside joke for the adults in the crowd.
I'll always prefer the older movies, but it was cool seeing a staple of my childhood on the big screen again.

Prior to the release of the movie, I knew the turtles themselves were done with Mo-Cap, but I was under the impression that all the voices were dubbed over, but according to the end credits, that was only the case with Leonardo and Splinter.

Tony Shalhoub was a complete joy as Splinter's voice. He managed to make reciting types of cheese on the 99 cheese pizza sound so distinguished. |
