If anything, Megan Fox being April is more of a disaster then the design of the turtles imo.

There's only one way they can salvage this movie.
Put this on the soundtrack.

Yall people complaining about the way the ninja turtles look are ridiculous. If anything remained relatively unchanged about TMNT, it's the look of the turtles. They look literally the same EXCEPT the nostrils. Seriously, get over it. If you honestly think that this looks literally the same as this I have no clue what to tell you. Although I have to admit upon second viewing, the designs do look a little better in motion. What's the difference? What is SO different about exhibit A and exhibit B that it's worth all this QQ for? They just look updated. The signature looks remain the same. They look, dare I say, BETTER. That's what a f***in' mutant should look like. Not just a giant turtuman. Even though they're aliens.

Gotta say, I'm the last person to be a Bay apologist, but I agree they actually look MORE like actual mutants they most incarnations. I've said it before, but so far my only real problem with the turtles is how damn big they are. The shells are way too big as well, but they themselves are bigger than most humans. If they scaled them down a bit I'd probably enjoy it more.

I'm just going leave what someone else said on a different forum because they gave a pretty good explanation: And if there were really no differences like you keep saying, nobody would be complaining.

To be frank, I think it's mainly a case of a seeming unnecessary change that didn't really improve things. Most of us have what the Turtles 'should' look like hard-wired into our brains, and every iteration has followed what the 'should' look like in some form or fashion.
This version, while not being incredibly drastically different, is enough of a deviation to just feel "off". One can argue it's not wrong or worse, but it's certainly not better, especially with aforementioned way they 'should' look to most of us.

I think my problem is that they look too accurate. Like, yeah, that's probably what some sort of mutated humanoid turtle creature would look like but they're not all that visually appealing. Same thing with the Transformers movies, some of the bots looked OK but most of the time they looked way over complicated.
Maybe they'll grow on me but given how trash Transformers 2 & 3 were, even if the character designs work, I don't think the movie itself will be that great.

But people aren't upset because they look different, right? They're upset because that different is bad. So it's like what? They're pretty much the same turtles. With that being SAID though, I remember the same exact uproar over the early '00 cartoon. And I mean, like, cmon.

They do look more like a real mutant turtle might look like, but that does clash with every major look they had since the beginning, when they were more cartoony. Even in the real life adaptations, they looked cartoony, so doing a pseudo realistic (as realistic as you can) ninja turtle is just a touch weird and unsettling. There are times when going for more realistic doesn't make it look better.

It's the nostrils coming startlingly close to a human nose and the lack of beak-like facial structure that make them look off to me.
I'm not sure how there's an idea that they now look more like mutants. They look just as much like mutants before given the fact they're giant, upright turtles using weaponry...unless y'all have some actual humanoid turtles walking around to compare these guys to.
It's just now we've got to accept them looking off and I've got to say it's a big distraction.

Both definitely look mutated, but these guys look more like "horrible radioactive material accident" type mutation, like Toxic Avenger Mutated. This looks like a Troma film, but with a Michael Bay budget.

The problem isn't that they look realistic, it's the interpretation of what mutation is suppose to look like. For some reason the head is almost just as wide as the previous incarnations but the face is flat. It's like they took the least visually appealing parts of humans and turtles and put them together.

Have already seen some people saying Bay and Company "They rape my childhood. Give me a break with that junk. In other news Screenwriter Andre Nemec Addresses Fan Concerns Here is the problem with that Shredder belief. By basically announcing that William Fichtner as the Shredder and then by having him be in a suit in the trailer, it's as if they are trying to have that be a twist when it is revealed that he is the Shredder. But they have already revealed him as the Shredder so you basically screwed the entire twist. Yes, Iron Man did almost the same thing with their finish, but in that film, the guy ultimately revealed as the villain had his villainy hidden with the cast announcements. Basically, you know everyone is going to know that William Fichtner's character is the Shredder, except the people in the film. WCW did almost a similar thing with the Warrior mirror crap where we all saw Warrior in the mirror and what Hogan was seeing was correct, but Bischoff didn't see it so you feel completely out of the movie EDIT: Oh and Jonathan Liebesman (the guy behind such wonderful films as Battle: Los Angeles, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Wrath of the Titans, and Darkness Falls) is directing this, tell me how I should feel that this film is going to do anything else but completely ruin my childhood. All the pieces for this to suck are all there.

He does have a good point it's doesn't need to be dark like Batman is. A lot of comic book movies forget that it's ok just to have fun

The movie may suck, it may even be likely, but my childhood is and will be firmly intact. It ain't like they're coming to my apartment and smashing my copy of the original movie.
