The easiest path to take is to simply not pay to see the movie. They (notably Bay) will keep molesting these licenses as long as they're making boat loads of money.

Honestly, after seeing the trailer I'm still willing to give the movie a chance.
After the shitty abominations that were the Michael Bay Transformers' flicks -- I was expecting much, much worse.

He does have a good point it's doesn't need to be dark like Batman is. A lot of comic book movies forget that it's ok just to have fun This man has a point. |

I saw the trailer earlier today, and I have to say that despite Michael Bay not directing it, the shots definitely remind me of his style. I am not so sure if I want to see this. I loved TMNT when I was a kid and regarding any of the movies that I would watch, I would just stick with the first, second and the 2007 movie (I am not going to touch the third movie after realizing how bad it truly was).
Now I am not a Bay hater like a lot of movie fans are. I enjoy some of his movies like the Bad Boys movies, The Rock, The Island and Pain & Gain. I have a strange relationship with the Transformers movies as I can say that I am not the biggest fan of them, though I can say that I enjoyed the first and I can give the third some credit for some of the sequences. However, the second movie is something I am not fond of. I still have not seen Pearl Harbor. As for Armageddon, well I can admit that it had good special effects and I will not deny that I almost started the water works towards the end (It was a pretty touching sequence in my opinion) but I am not sure if I'd want to watch it again (I never say never, if it's on TV or if I'll give it another chance, but that's beside the point). I am not really sure if I am seeing the fourth TF film, but I might end up dragging myself to see it like I did with the third film (Well, sort of).
As for movies that Bay PRODUCED, I have not seen a lot, actually. I have seen the remake of "Friday the 13th" which I had no idea he was involved in. Did he have any sort of influence like the shaky cam and stuff? I have only seen it once and that was in theaters. I remember there being hot women, but I don't think there were any pervy camera shots that Bay is mostly known for. I didn't see "The Purge" but I might check it out and "The Purge: Anarchy" looks interesting to me.
Now back to TMNT, I am really on the fence about this, with one side tipping over to the "not wanting to see it" side and I might fall on accident, but then there is the side that has me saying that I might still see it out of curiosity and I might give it a go. However, I am not getting my hopes up to high for this. Unlike Transformers, I was a huge fan of TMNT as a kid as mentioned before and there is this side of me that wants to give it a chance but after seeing the trailer, it reminded too much of a Transformers film but with the turtles. I know Bay produced the movie, but I have heard in some places that producers have some influence over some movies. I heard that Spielberg had some influence over some of the elements of the Transformers movies. I am sure that Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer had some influence over The Rock because we didn't get racial stereotypes in that movie, though we did have that stereotypically gay hairdresser in that movie, so I guess there was some influence from Bay in that one. With Bay producing, I kind of fear that we might have some of his trademarks in it. I know that this movie is being geared towards kids, but there were some things in the Transformers movies that weren't child-friendly, like close-ups of Megan Fox, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and other attractive women, not to mention two dogs going at it in the second TF movie. *SHUDDER*
I know this was too long, but I am just trying to get my point across. I did say that I might give it a chance when the time comes, but my hopes aren't too high for this.

I love "ruin my childhood" type posts. Is this film going to erase everything else TMNT that ever existed? My big issue with those comments is that they seem to be coming from people who have long been removed from the TMNT franchise. They aren't fans, they WERE fans of ONE version of the property as kids. They're the same people who said the same about the 2003 animated series, despite the fact that it was based on the original comic books and was overseen by Peter Laird. They see every other version of Turtles as a bastardization of what they call "the original", despite the fact that the 1987 cartoon was itself a bastardization of the true original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Those people, in my blunt opinion, don't have much right to complain. They left Turtles in their childhoods and don't give the franchise a second thought until something new comes along that doesn't look like Fred Wolf's smiley dork Turtles with initialed belt buckles. Then they want to complain. That being said, there are other fans like myself who have been lifelong fans of the franchise and continue to have Turtles as a presence in their lives. From the time I was four years old, it's been a part of my life. To this day, I collect the action figures, hardcover editions of the original comics, still watch the live-action films on a regular basis, and I follow the Nickelodeon series religiously with my daughter. I'm not mad that they're "ruining my childhood", because they're not. They're ruining something that is a huge part of what has continually been a major source of entertainment for me for 25 years. My daughter just got into Turtles in the past year via the Nick series, and they're ruining it for her. She saw the new trailer and said "Dad, why don't they look like the Turtles?". I'm not losing my mind with anger over a "ruined" childhood, but it really ticks me off when Hollywood pulls this crap. They always think they can make something "better" or "cooler", or that they need to put their own stamp on it at the expense of what's worked for decades. There's a reason Marvel fans left theaters after seeing The Avengers with huge grins on their faces, and this film has already shown that it will not do the same for fans of the Turtles. It's just disappointing. |

It's just disappointing. Look, I loved the 80s series and originally, I was put off by the 2000s series. But here is the thing with the 2000s series, I got over it and learned to appreciate it (screw that sequel series that had that annoying kid in it). I also liked the Turtles Forever film, even though the cast from the original series didn't show up due to union issues. Now on the current series, I don't watch because quite honestly, I just don't watch Nickolodeon period and really don't have much time to get into new series. It has nothing to do with whether I love or hate it because I will admit that I don't know and I don't have the time to know. But this....yeah, this is freaking bad. Almost as bad as that stupid Out Of Their Shells game that recently came out and I have ZERO desire to see this film at this stage, considering everything I have seen from the trailer and everything I know about the crew making this film. Maybe it will be a good film, who knows? But considering the people behind this, considering April O'Neil being played by Megan Fox, considering the Shredder bullcrap that I have gone to lengths about already, and considering how hideous Michelangelo looks, I doubt I will be anything other than a Michael Bay "Screw the original fans, this is my show" cash grab. |

I'll dare to be different here, but I like the last few paragraphs of spoilers. This is stuff I've been waiting to see realized on screen since I played the arcade game. The new origin can go take a running jump though. Blech. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}April and Raph making out will piss off all the April/Donatello 'shippers from the Nick cartoon as well...but hey, I wrote a fanfilm script where she dumped Casey for Michelangelo so I'm not complaining all that much about that. April just being "freinds" with the Turtles has gotten really old over the years [/spoiler] |

Honestly, if anyone but Michael Bay had their name attached to it, this wouldn't be getting nearly as much hate.
Not enough in the trailer to make a judgement. Turtles didn't look that bad. Expected worse.
Can't really comment on Shredder without seeing how he is actually written into the movie. Point in case, Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger both played the Joker, neither were like any other iterations of the Joker that had been written. Both Joker characters were awesome. Just because a character isn't written like past versions doesn't make it bad.
