Its not based on his recent run but mostly in his prime years. Theres no denying he was hugely over, probably one of the most over guys in WWE history but was his ring work and his promo ability not as great as made out to be? I was never a Rock fan, his promos bored me and even had me cringe at times, it was the same old thing every week with the Rock. There was little originality to his stuff, it was all catchphrase after catchphrase.
His in ring work i hated even more so, when was in the ring with a wrestler who was more talented, he could put on a good match but with lesser talents, i cant recall a single great Rock match that didnt involve Austin, Undertaker, Foley or even Triple H (as much as i dislike him too). Im sure his fans will probably slaughter me for this, again im not denying how popular he was, but his in ring ability and promo ability, are they perhaps the most overrated of any superster of all time?

His charisma is so off the charts to make up for any deficiency in his in ring skills and promos.

Not by a long shot, he was one of the most charismatic performers of all time, and while he wasn't the most talented in ring guy, he was talented enough.

The Rock can go out in any arena, with nothing to talk about, talk for 15+ minutes anyway and the crowd will eat it up from start to finish.
I can't think of a single other wrestler in history that can do that. Not consistently.

Oh dear God no.
He was at the very least above average in the ring. He didn't need 1,004 moves, but he could tell a good story and have good matches with pretty much anyone.
As far as promos and charisma? Well, come on...

Yes, in the same way that WWII veterans and the polio vaccine are overrated.

He had good to great matches with: Kurt Angle Chris Jericho Chris Benoit Brock Lesnar Booker T And a whole bunch of really fun TV matches with a ton of midcard and upper midcarders guy. I think you should've called this thread something else like "I don't like The Rock"

I really, really, really don't like The Rock.
But he's connected so well with other people, and they enjoy him so much, that I think he's rated the way he should be.

Ask a non-wrestling to name a wrestler and you'll likely get these responses: The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, John Cena. He transcends pro-wrestling and has a given back to the product when he didn't really need to, secure in his Hollywood career. Like him or not, he's been a great ambassador for the WWE in and out of the ring.

Nope.
Sean O'haire is the most overrated piece of garbage ever in wrestling.

Okay, but...If he's not, who is? Now that's a real tough question. I am tempted to say Triple H but he doesn't have that great of a universal reputation. I'm tempted to say either Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels *runs and hides*

Nope. He's rated as one of the biggest stars in the history of the business, and the one who successfully managed to cross over into the mainstream to enormous success. Even Hogan, for all his name recognition, never reached anywhere near the heights of what the Rock has done in movies.

Nope. Sean O'haire is the most overrated piece of garbage ever in wrestling. What makes him a piece of garbage? Anyway, in previous years, guys like Led Luger, Jeff Jarrett and Billy Gunn were all considered overrated. Use them as examples of the definition of overrated and you may find your answer.

Dude can get the crowd to chant anything. Saying that Rocky is super charismatic isn't an opinion, it's a freaking fact.
He had tons of great matches and was an amazing athlete.
