I guess they figured a non speaking face wouldn't really work.

IDK if this counts , but I remember back in the Early stages of the whole "ZTLIS" era Ryder and it seemed like one Day on Superstars he would be a face and then the next week he'd be teaming back up with Hawkins as a heel team.

Instead of mentioning Kaitlyn's aborted heel turn in the 5th straight post, I'll go with Umaga in 2008, I think, he started going after heels and seemed to be forming some sort of partnership with Jeff Hardy, but after about 3 weeks Umaga went heel again and attacked Jeff. I guess they figured a non speaking face wouldn't really work. This was in response to people cheering Umaga over serious face Santino I believe Didn't CM Punk turn heel on an episode of ECW back in 2006/7 only to turn back the very next episode? Yeah, there was the new breed vs. the originals both were courting him and he joined the New Breed one episode and either later in the night or next episode he turned on them. From what I remember it was meant to be a clever ruse... but then he didn't really do anything with the ECW originals afterwards... so who knows.

Alicia Fox every time they use her seems to act like a face teaming with a heel, or a heel who still thinks she is a face.

He could have been a friendly savage that was goofy but could still Savate kick your teeth down your throat if you got out of line.

I guess they figured a non speaking face wouldn't really work. It was because of Jeff being suspended and them needing someone to take his place in his feud with I think it was Carlito and Kennedy. All the same, Umaga was catching on as a face a lot at that point and I remember being pissed when they abruptly turned him just for him to go back to doing nothing.

I remember Jeff Hardy vowed that he was gonna start kicking some ass around here, starting with Shawn Michales. He then promptly ate a super kick and it was never mentioned again. It was mentioned like a week later, but then Jeff became romantically linked to Trish for a couple weeks, then he failed Wellness and was promptly released shortly after WrestleMania.

Also, it looked like Test was turning face when he was with Stacy Keibler and she was his marketing director, leading him to cut his hair and call his fans 'Testicles.' I can't remember if they ever turned him face, but I don't think they ever fully turned him babyface. I think Steiner ended up teaming with him and then they may have feuding with Steiner being the face. Yeah, this was a full-blown face turn post-UnAmericans. Test would refer to his fans as "Testicles" and, after he would win a match, take the microphone and say "I LOVE MY TESTICLES." This was an entire months-long program that resulted in Test turning heel again when he became too controlling of Stacy and feuding with Steiner for 37 years. It ended with both turning on Stacy and then I can't remember at all how this was blown off. Point being, Test's face turns wasn't abruptly cancelled at all. What was cancelled was an angle where Raven stalking Test and Stacy that lasted all of one segment on Raw and was never mentioned again.

After JBL feuded with Batista and lost a few PPV matches, he moved on to feuding with Mysterio. After that cleared, wasn't there some period where he started teaming with faces in some 6 man tags for a few episodes? Then nothing happened and he was a heel again.

That might have been the Raw vs Smackdown angle they ran around Survivor Series, which saw JBL working with Mysterio a lot.

I remember him mentioning a "face turn" in one of his gags (with his action figure, similar to Cena's "heel turn" joke) but I don't remember them actually teasing a face turn. Ryder never actually TURNED face. He was just randomly booked against a heel Drew McIntyre on Superstars and was a face from that point on.

Eugene, during the "I'M SPECIAL!" gimmick. He turned on Hacksaw Jim Duggan after they lost to the Spirit Squad and had to break up.
I think Ryder was supposed to turn heel on Cena during the Kane feud, but Eve got so much heat from kissing him that they turned her instead.

Maybe things would be different.

Personally, I think an Umaga face turn would have been like the Yokozuna face turn from 1996, where he finally starts speaking on his own, saying that he'll no longer let himself be controlled by whoever. The fact that Umaga and Yokozuna both had moves involving crushing someone with their ass only adds to it.

Weirdly, I think his face turn was that time he walked out after a random Nexus match, said one of his catchphrases, and promptly left. Seriously, what the hell was that?

I wanted Ryder to be the new leader of the Nexus. A light hearted midcard-y Nexus that wore headbands instead of armbands

You guys are doing the AJ/Kaitlyn thing wrong. It should be handled grapevine style, where it keeps getting further and further away from it's original meaning each time it's brought up. Like the segment on Thunder where AJ turned on the Faces of Fear and joined up with the LWO. ....I shit you not, I was going to reply with a reference to Kaitlyn joining the LWO. What a strange coincidence.

What a strange coincidence. To be fair, does anyone really need a reason to bring up the LWO? It's like the worst faction ever, but you can't bring yourself to hate it because you like at least 60% of the people involved and the concept is sound. L-Dubya-O! L-Dubya-O!
