I saw a reference to Cena getting stabbed in a nightclub by Jesus (in 2004, long story unless you're not a newb) and it randomly reminded me that Cena had just come off a feud with Booker T the night before, where he won the US title in a tourney, and a segment afterwards on Smackdown - where Booker congratulated Cena for the win - turned him face.
And then randomly I remembered that he kinda/sorta turned heel some months later (shortly after Rumble 2005) after getting screwed around with by Eddie and Rey in some matches. In fact, they actually taped a heel turn for him which was to air on Smackdown but for whatever reason it never aired...and, turns out, he never turned heel.
And I wonder.........has this ever happened before or since? A wrestler who's either scheduled to turn face/heel or who actually turns face/heel but the plans never go thru or the segment never actually airs?

Kaitlyn turned heel on AJ and joined up with the Divas of Doom on a SD taping, which was then edited out of the broadcast and never mentioned.
Though maybe AJ remembered and that's why she turned on Kaitlyn later.

Kaitlyn left with Beth Phoenix and Natalya on an episode on SmackDown once, signifying a heel turn for her and split from AJ. Only for this segment to not make air and Kaitlyn never turned heel at all after that.
Edit: DAMMIT

His turn was canceled in exchange for letting Kurt call his wife a gutterslut. About an even a trade as you can get.
Wasn't there a Divas heel turn filmed recently that was just not shown when the taped show aired?

Eugene acting like a dick and screaming "I'm special!" only for it to be dropped was either an example of this or a very quick heel run.
Zack Ryder got pissed on his internet show and threw down his merchandise in disgust, but it went nowhere.

Instead of mentioning Kaitlyn's aborted heel turn in the 5th straight post, I'll go with Umaga in 2008, I think, he started going after heels and seemed to be forming some sort of partnership with Jeff Hardy, but after about 3 weeks Umaga went heel again and attacked Jeff. I guess they figured a non speaking face wouldn't really work.

There was seeds planted for a London/Kendrick break up with Kendrick turning heel around WrestleMania 24... then that kind of got aborted (they'd break up the team anyway in the draft and turned Kendrick heel then) and they did it with Cade/Murdoch instead.

Oh yeah, and wasn't there this cancelled Kaitlyn heel turn that never made air, where she was going to betray AJ and join the DoD?

Didn't CM Punk turn heel on an episode of ECW back in 2006/7 only to turn back the very next episode?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Kaitlyn-AJ turn that was edited out of the Smackdown mysteriously.

Hey, has anyone mentioned when Kaitlyn turned heel on AJ, but it never aired on TV?
This is going back decades, but I believe WWE envisioned Honky Tonk Man as a face, but audiences didn't take to him. I'm really streching to remember what happened, but I believe WWE did one of their gimmicks where they got fans to mail in 'votes' whether than fans liked him or not. Of course this may have been one of their many attempts to get addresses of their fans so that they could send them offers and marketing things ala 'Get well Matilda' and when Earthquake injured Hogan.
Also, it looked like Test was turning face when he was with Stacy Keibler and she was his marketing director, leading him to cut his hair and call his fans 'Testicles.' I can't remember if they ever turned him face, but I don't think they ever fully turned him babyface. I think Steiner ended up teaming with him and then they may have feuding with Steiner being the face.

It wasn't a turn, but in 2003 right around his face turn in November Cena FU'ed Benoit after a tag match to give him that Austin 'don't trust anybody' edge. Apparently it didn't go over the way they wanted though and they edited it out. I remember being bummed and wanting them to keep it in.

I remember Dave Meltzer once reported that Kaitlyn was set to turn heel on AJ and join the DOD.

Whatever happened to Kaitlyn? I heard she was supposed to go heel and join the Divas of Doom at a taping or something...

I remember Jeff Hardy vowed that he was gonna start kicking some ass around here, starting with Shawn Michales. He then promptly ate a super kick and it was never mentioned again.

You guys are doing the AJ/Kaitlyn thing wrong. It should be handled grapevine style, where it keeps getting further and further away from it's original meaning each time it's brought up.
Like the segment on Thunder where AJ turned on the Faces of Fear and joined up with the LWO.
