I love Punk. It's funny because the age old "Cena Wins" meme is still out there. But, it's kinda become the deal with Punk as well. How did losing to Punk & Bryan benefit the Wyatts? Look where a few Punk feuds got Ryback... Punk's been on a steamroller for 2+ years. I'm not whining or complaining, but I think it's funny that Punk doesn't have the same "Wins"-meme worthy tag that Cena has.

This is where I post: but Cena wasn't in the INDIEZZZ
On a more serious note, am I the only one who sees him as being really half-hearted in taking part in the 'Yes' chants?

On the other hand, if this feud was just a 1 PPV program, then you can't have D-bryan lose again in a big match. Then you start getting into Ryback territory with him.
Bryan needed a win more than the Wyatts did.

Bryan needed a win more than the Wyatts did. If they're gonna have people invest in Bryan as a top-level face, you can't have him lose and get screwed over at every PPV.

I feel like Ryback got more derailed when he feuded with Cena. Ryback was getting huge pops and they threw it away to turn him heel against Cena and he's never gotten a decent reaction since.

He's being fed dudes as a consolation for not being in the title picture.

It's pretty much Spoiler: (insert top babyface) wins. Heels are inept, worthless pussies. Unless they're getting monster pushed to turn face like Roman Reigns. Cena's got the meme because it's been going on for 8 years.

Feuding with most any top guy doesn't benefit anyone due to the WWE's 50/50 booking and refusal to elevate some guys.

Cena's got the meme because it's been going on for 8 years. Well to be fair, Punk isn't exactly squashing everybody on PPV's this year. He's lost to the likes of Brock and Heyman. Plus in an ideal world, the heels should be losing on the PPV's since the fans are paying to see them get their comeuppance. It should always be heels dominate on tv, lose on PPVs. So I don;t have a problem with your point of them losing a lot on PPVs.

By this point, its obvious that their mindset is, since people like him, we'll keep putting him out here, but eventually they'll get tired of him and chanting "YES!"

The Wyatts are midcard heels, who get over more on their character than by actually winning. Plus, they've been running around unopposed for a few months now, so I didn't see any problem with the Indy Dream Team handing them their first significant defeat.
Just feuding with Punk and Bryan and looking like a threat to them is getting them over, they don't need to actually beat the top stars, nor should they.

Right, he squashes them the next night/week on Raw. And, yes, Punk has lost to Taker & Brock this year, but those guys are obviously on a different level. Regular, active roster guys don't really walk away with wins (ala Cena).

Punk's been losing on PPV all year up until recently - he shouldn't be losing against THE WYATTS of all people when he's likely going to be in a WWE title program within the next few months. The Wyatts have now been important enough to have a PPV match against Punk and Bryan, both of whom are incredibly over. It's the same deal as SummerSlam '09 when DX took on Cody/Ted of The Legacy. That made Legacy look important, and it put them over just by hanging with DX even though they ultimately lost. I recall them even getting a PPV win over DX afterwards.
Jury's still out on the Wyatts, I think. They sure as hell aren't The Shield. But they got a chance to show something tonight.

And I don't just mean winning, but look in tag situations when someone like Big E gets the hot tag he doesn't try to bail out -- he holds a hand up to tell the other guys "I got this" instead of turning chickensquat. I really like the way they are handling him.

Punk's in the same spot babyface Orton was in for the last few years. He's done basically everything there is to do in the main event scene, both as a heel and as a face, but he's too popular not to be featured on the card in some capacity, so he's just... hanging around, beating guys in random feuds.

On a more serious note, am I the only one who sees him as being really half-hearted in taking part in the 'Yes' chants? Almost everything Punk does as a babyface seems kind of phony and half-hearted to me. Don't get me wrong, he's still one of my favorite wrestlers in WWE... The guy's just a natural heel.

I remember in The Shield's first match against Ryback, Bryan, and Kane, I was pumped that Ambrose got in Ryback's face and chopped him and didn't run away. That was when Ryback was on a tear too. It puts Ambrose across as something different. I agree, I like that too. The Shield is great, but the break-up seems to be coming, and I'm okay with it beucase I want to see all 3 guys as singles. Ambrose with actual character movitation beyond justice or fighting for The Authority should be a lot of fun. They've all been protected from the get-go so hopefully that can continue.

Cena also lost to the likes of John Laurinitus on PPV. There's nothing wrong with Punk being treated as a big deal because he is certainly one of their biggest stars. He should of lost to the likes of Ryback though, as least once, in their feud. At Battleground would of been the perfect chance for that; Heyman could of provided the distraction while Ryback hit a meat-hook clothesline & then a Shellshock. Hell, maybe even have Ryback be the one who uses a low-blow to gain the win. That's just a case of Punk getting a win when he doesn't need it, much like at Survivor Series today. Bryan needed the win a lot more, as did the Wyatt family. Instead it's Punk getting the win.

It's baffling why WWE insists on pushing a proven failure as a draw, Punk, as a top star. The kid does not have the look or charisma to capture the attention of the mainstream audience. He needs to be de-pushed. It's (literally) what's best for business.
