They'll probably just get another Mexican guy to play the part of Del Rio after the first one retires. Or Ryder. He's tan enough. Stop trying to make Ryder happen. He's not gonna happen!

Tim Thomas spent most of his career in the most minor and bush leagues and will probably retire soon He plays a legitimate sport. Wrestlers have more injuries and burnout rates then any other sport except maybe rugby and American football I'm not sure if you're a troll or just a massive dumbass. Honest to god. Either way, you're a disgrace to your namesake. How kind. Punk hasn't been making 'big money' for very long, maybe since 2008/09 since he got into the main event in WWE and likey then awarded the big-big contract. It's well and good to speak about retirement but there's a huge difference between speaking about it and doing it, in all walks of life, particularly wrestling. Especially when you're at the top. I don't think it's going to be that easy to just walk away on the basis that he said he would. Much of his career has been spent in much smaller promotions and on the indy scene where he wouldn't/couldn't have made that much particularly as a lot of it occurred in the mid 2000s when the wrestling scene was hardly booming. So you can only surmise what his career earnings pre-WWE were but I think it's an educated guess to assume they weren't huge. At least not 'retire early' huge. These last few years they would have been but in any form of entertainment there's a huge difference between intending on retiring - and doing it. Particularly when you're in a position to still make a lot of money. If you drop down the card like a rock or get injured then it's easier. But the occasions where someone, on top of their game, making the serious dough just says "You know what? I'm doing something else" is very few and far between and yet almost all at one point or another would have either publicly or privately said long before the day they were forced to give it up "I'll retire by the time I'm X" The real world doesn't play out like that 99% of the time so I'll take anyone telling me they'll retire by a pre-determine date, with a massive pinch of salt. I don't see how holding this opinion makes me a dumbass. Maybe I should try "I believe 100% everything a wrestler tells me" to get in your good books? Making big money since 2008 really does help with the pay cheque. Plus during 2007 the ECW title and ECW still had some respect so I'm sure Vince gave out bigger bonuses for ECW champions and competitors in 2007 then 2008. I know wrestlers have said the bigger the match, the bigger the pay check and the winner usually gets a bigger paycheck. Even early on his career like December 06 he was main eventing he worst drawn PPV ever, being in MITB, one of the longest lasting entrants in the Rumble, King of the ring finalist, multiple ECW title shots and ECW Championship run. Winner of two MITB's. Never missed a mania and been on almost every week on television since his debut either on ECW, Smackdown, Raw even when injured as a commentator . Dude must be getting burned out. Don't forget he was in a WWE Championship match from October 2011 to February 2013 lots of bonus paychecks and his PPV streak was ended by the Undertaker. Plus he was a hot merchendise seller since 2007 Punk's body is f***ed.... No, not by AJ. There you go, he's already a millionaire, these post-wrestling projects still exist, he doesn't 'have to' wrestle hurt but he is. Why? Because the arbitrary date for his retirement hasn't arrived? The fact he's working hurt just underlines his dedication to the business and why (IMO) he won't easily give it up. If you work with a back injury and rib cartilage issues, you're probably not the kind of person who once the circled date on the calendar arrives will find it easy to say "I'm done". Dude is probably honoring a contract, hasn't worked a legends deal with Vince, and probably wants to retire putting the right guy over in Chicago or Mania or some shit. It's easy to quit the job when you have a end game date thought out.

He's already missed four out of the last 11 months due to injuries. To me the fact that he's working hurt reenforces the idea that he's planning to retire, and is making the best of the time he has left. Punk's not the kind of guy to quietly fade into the background, he no doubt wants to go out with a bang.

As an aggressive retiree Alberto Del Rio cuts in line to get the early bird special at Shoney's.
ADR aggressively pulls his pants all the way up to his neck.

On a related note, I'm ready to make my prediction for the main event of WrestleMania 50...

Other possible retirements: literally everyone on the roster at some indeterminate point in the future but plans are always likely to change.

CM Punk should have loads of newz planted about an upcoming retirement, have a loser leaves WWE match at the next mania, lose it. But show up on Raw the next night with his new attorney David Otunga who has found some loophole so that Punk can stay, then you build it up to Summerslam where Punk loses a loser leaves WWE match again and then shows up the next night with a new loophole.
Keep doing that for a year or so, you have a mega heel with some simple booking.
Of course you have to pay it off the next year at mania with a loser leaves WWE match where Punk signs a contract pre match stating that if he loses he will leave no matter what and there are no loopholes. Then logically he would lose for pay off.
Or they could prolong it another year or so by keeping him off screen and having a storyline running that Otunga is taking them to court in every state and every country until the decision is reversed despite the contract Punk has signed . Then Punk returns at the next mania after that for his final final match (Otunga could fail and fail and the gm figure could say f*** it Punk= Money so he will appear once more at mania).

Maybe this will save people from another painful title reign. Punk not Del Rio.

Early reports indicate that Magiconz did stub his toe after Raw tonight. We'll have more details in the coming days.

I could see Punk going the Jericho route, and taking a couple of years off before returning with something different.
Del Rio always seemed adamant about retiring early also, he stated that he doesn't want to be wrestling in 5 years, around the time he won the Rumble.

Punk won't retire. Spent much of his career wrestling in front of 12 people. Suddenly gonna give it up? Absolutely no chance Or... Punk retires from in-ring competition to become the best announcer ever! It's the perfect role for him. f***, fire Lawler and give Punk his spot NOW!

I thought punk was in the doghouse? Did he ever get out of there? Let's see: 1. He had a 400+ day reign as WWE champion 2. He's banged just about every diva on the roster (AJ being the "flavor of the month") 3. He has a bad-ass entrance theme. How could he possibly be in the doghouse?

I always saw him as the kind of guy that could keep going when the muscleheads and jet-setters kept going broke trying to chase that dream. But, Austin got out of the business in 2003 and he's been thriving since. I can see Punk filling a niche much like that. There's nothing wrong with semi-retirement either. Save your body for the big matches/angles that matter and use your talents on the mic to help push others/put over a story.
