So many shows NY could have gone to I guess Seinfeld makes sense, if they aren't counting SNL

Seinfeld more popular than Friends?
Yeah...no. Might be more relevant to New York, but by that logic, Law & Order would edge it out.

There wasn't a whole lot of overlap, but where there was, Seinfeld beat Friends in the ratings. At it's peak, Seinfeld had more viewers. Friends was more consistent hroughout it's entire run, sure, but once Seinfeld got popular, it went up until it ended. They were both very popular shows, but I think it's fair to say that Seinfeld was more popular.

Well, outside of South Park I can't even think of any other shows based in Colorado, so that makes sense. Colorado's also got Mork and Mindy, Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman and Community. Wow, I honestly had no clue; granted I've only seen Mork and Mindy once and I've never seen Dr. Quinn, but I didn't think Colorado had much outside of South Park. Thanks! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Shows like Camp Candy and The Bill Engvall show wouldn't really have a chance (nothing would with South Park existing). It's reputation means it's going to come to mind more readily than any of the middle states short of Texas.

Currently the new best show ever on showtime. That doesn't help at all, bro. I'm surprised you never heard of it. It's been on three or four years and has been nominated for a bunch of awards. Even gave Breaking Bad a run for its money. It's a political drama about a popular politician and war hero who's a double agent for a terrorist group. Claire Danes works for the CIA and is trying to stop him.

I'm pretty darn sure this isn't legit. Maybe it's because it's from College Humor....no that can't be it.

I'm pretty darn sure this isn't legit. Maybe it's because it's from College Humor....no that can't be it. It was made by Business Insider. College humor found it and included it in a list of maps that different people made to show different things, because that's a thing on the internet thanks to Buzzfeed. I found it there, hence why it links to CH and not business insider. As for being legit, is there a non-legit map of the US where people try to identify the most popular shows based on state? It's a pretty subjective thing in the first place, so unless you make up shows, I'm not sure what would be not legit.

I would like PA to be changed to Supernatural/ Yes they travel all over the country, but they make more recurring stops in PA than any other state. Most recently Somerset.

I started looking at the list and I think that they got a few wrong:
Arkansas - "Designing Women" instead of "Evening Shade"
Connecticut - "Who's the Boss?" instead of "Soap"
Georgia - "Dukes of Hazzard" instead of "The Walking Dead"
Indiana - "One Day at a Time" instead of "Parks and Recreations" (Seriously, one show was a perennial top 10 while the other barely cracked the top 100 in only one season)
Kansas - "Gunsmoke" instead of "Smallville"
New Hampshire is the proud setting for "Assy McGee", which has outperformed "The Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire"
New York - "Friends" instead of "Seinfeld" (Friends was a ratings juggernaut from start to finish and for longer. Also, Friends still gets played more in syndication)
Texas - "Dallas" instead of "Walker, Texas Ranger" (Hell, Walker does not even deserve the #2 slot over King of the Hill) Virginia - "The Waltons" instead of "Homeland"
Special notice goes for Connecticut and New York splitting time as the setting for "I Love Lucy"

This is sketchy, I'm not sure that Grace Under Fire was ever liked by anyone.

This is sketchy, I'm not sure that Grace Under Fire was ever liked by anyone. No one admits it because the star turned out to be a real horrible person to everyone she encountered, but it was a hit for a few years. That qualifies it over the few other shows set in that state.

This is sketchy, I'm not sure that Grace Under Fire was ever liked by anyone. The first 2 seasons it was a huge hit. Then Brett's issues became known and killed the show.

Honestly, I see Friends get played on one station here a few times a day, Seinfeld seems to get pay several times on multiple stations. That, combined with a significantly higher viewership at it's prime (and being called the greatest TV show of all time by TV Guide) makes me think it's right to call it more popular at it's peak, even though it started off poorly. If it's a choice between a higher peak and cut down before getting too stale, and a longer, more consistent run, I'll take the peak. Both were hugely influential shows, so it's really a toss up if we're picking between them (I'll freely admit that I liked Seinfeld more than Friends, which I'm sure influences the decision).
Of course, I think Red Agony is right, Sesame Street should blow them both out of the water. Then SNL and The Tonight Show, since they included a reality show, so extremely significant variety shows might be considered as well.
I think it's funny that they went with Walker, since Dallas is the much better choice. I think they're both remembered, but for entirely different reasons. Dallas for it's characters and major arc and Walker for being really cheesy.

I think even Supernatural has an edge over Smallville for Kansas
