The DX invading WCW bit. DX's parody of Vince & Shane. HBK's entrance at WM12 & winning the title from Bret. Rey winning the 06 Royal Rumble.

I clicked on this thread thinking "gee, I sure hope someone mentions DX and the tank".
As a WCW fan, it cracks me up that they like to pretend that made any sort of difference at all. It would be like, if WCW won, them claiming Bischoff challenging McMahon at Slamboree 1998 turned the tide of the war. It's just insecure little Triple H trying to boost his legacy and making sure he had a finger in every historical pie from that era.

For a long time, every time they replayed Austin on a Zamboni, my brother and I kept a running count. I think we stopped around 1,047,304.

HBK flying in on the zip line seems lame now Actually the entire Iron Man match gets overplayed. It was a good match but c'mon. Albeit, they have slacked off recently.

Taker/Foley Hell in a Cell. They play those two spots to death, and after that, the match is short and nothing too spectacular.

nobody said it yet, but the "DX invading WCW" skit was really overplayed.

Hogan slamming Andre, Foley jumping off the top of the cage (yes it looked more like a jump than being thrown), Montreal Screwjob.

It's getting portrayed as more and more important as the years go by too.
At first it was a nothing comedy skit, then it was portrayed as an example of WWE getting back on it's feet and starting to take some shots at WCW, then it was portrayed as a huge segment and a big reason for the WWE turning the tide in terms of ratings and at the minute they present it alongside Austin/Mcmahon as a major factor in WWE winning the war.
In 10 years time it'll be seen as THE reason why the WWE won the war, as the pinnacle in the attitude era. Austin was a semi successful guy but man oh man that DX segment was the reason.

Of course, it was none other than HHH who could have lead us to the promised land. I expect his next gimmick will be carrying a cross with a crown of thornes on his head.

For me it's Austin and the beer truck. Just because compared to the Zamboni segment it just doesn't compare imo.

Edge doing the epic spear. it's to the point where I roll my eyes when I see it. The best part is.....he already did it before Wrestlemania X-7 on the 1st raw on TNN back in Sept 2000, so I dont get what makes the x7 spot so special. Also, I'll add andre the giant slamming big john studd at WM 1 ........why wouldn't he be able the slam someone smaller than him?

Right that's it I'm defending the DX tank.
They may have overplayed it's importance but it's still the best visual representation of WWE's side of the Monday Night War. When discussing WCW they can show the NWO forming, Madusa putting the belt in the trash (my answer for this thread), Bischoff reading results, "That'll put a lot of butts in seats" etc but most of WWE's pot shots are best forgotten*, they're hardly going to use Fake Diesel and Razor Ramon.
*with the exception of Gillberg but he's not exactly got the same visual impact as a tank.

Thirding the "DX invades WCW" thing. I'm also tired of the "Pipebomb" mostly because I'm sick of hearing the word "pipebomb" being used for "shoots" these days. I loved the initial promo by Punk. But you're right - the word "pipebomb" is overused. Especially when people used it to refer to AJ Lee's promo on the "Total Divas". AJ is not a female CM Punk, not by a long shot. Not to be a hipster over it, but I actually remember when Punk said it in ROH.

I'm kind of sick of Austin's beer hose. another overplayed moment To me, it was fine until they rehashed it with him doing the same thing to Santino and Maria. That was largely forgotten, but it definitely watered it down for me. And pretty much any moments in history that they feel the need to repeat to us EVERY SINGLE TIME an event happens. It's at the point where it stops being history because it's on tv now so f***ing often.

Anytime they show anybody pointing at the Wrestlemania Sign I roll my eyes. I used to love these moments. Now they feel forced as all hell to the point where even seeing the older moments pisses me off.

That would look better if they changed it up a bit with the pointing... it's always exactly the same right down to the angle and pose.

I feel bad for anyone checking out the DX invasion for the first time thinking something cool is going to happen. It was just them hanging out by locked doors with HHH trying to make something out of it and failing. I find it funny that they keep showing Hogan slamming Andre but no Cena AAing Show or Viscera which is even more impressive, especially when he did it Show and Edge. I guess they don't show it because then the commentators can't speculate about whether he can do it or not the next time he does it
