The silent end credits after Adric's death in Doctor Who perfectly complemented the shocked silence in my house. People were upset by the death of that ponce? I laughed. Anyway Tom Baker's doctor's death/regeneration gets me, The fact that he's replaced by Davison's is upsetting ( I like peter Davison but I hated his Doctor) It wasn't that I LIKED Adric. It was that no companion had ever died before....and the show had been running for like twenty years at the time.

Blue Beetle, specifically Ted Kord.
I LOVED the Super Buddies, I loved Booster and Beetle, I loved the character - I loved the storyline leading up to him discovering the truth about Max. Better yet. That death ripped my heart in two, but what a death it was - what a way to go out. What a signoff for the character.
Not only that, but the death MEANT something, unlike so many comic book deaths. He stayed dead (mostly), the death triggered a shitload of storylines. It was a great way to go out for a character who was hitherto a joke.
But then if my information is correct, the New 52 retconned him to have never even existed in the first place, meaning one of the precious few meaningful deaths in comic book history never actually happened. I haven't bought a comic book since. f*** you DC.
...My reaction may have been slightly unreasonable.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler} After his death...actually I take it back DURING the entire thing you had this feeling this was the end for DinoBot but then when he does die this feeling of like NOW they have to kill MegaTron just takes over because while he was a bad guy he was a guy you wanted to see defeated....but this took it to where I wanted to see Primal just rip his head from his rollerskating body.

Buffy's mom, mainly because of how it played out in the following episodes.

When I first saw Spock's death scene and subsequent funeral in "The Wrath of Khan", I really cried I was so upset.

Regenerations don't bother me really, it's strange but it's easy for me to see them all as the same person, I am one of those people for whom The Doctor is their Doctor. The hardest to watch for me though is probably poor Ten, after all he went through and finally thinking that maybe it wasn't going to happen after all. And then you hear the knocks.

Bingewatching TNG in the months leading up to it had his demise hit me like a ton of bricks. Made worse by his death being both pointless (due to his canon "resurrection" by taking over B4's body) and needless (shuttle transporters anybody?).

I have to say Aeris in FF7 affected me deeply. She was a character that was so well written, liked, innocent, and caring that when Sephiroth kills her in front of you and gives that troll smirk, every part of me was just smashing buttons, getting angry, and wanting to kill him right there.
As far as television or film is concerned. It's a pretty small list to be completely honest. However, when it comes to film nothing hit me or depressed me more than John Coffee's death in "The Green Mile."
Television involves not so much of a death per se, but in this one instance, when Willow's evilness dies when Xander prevents her from destroying the world and bringing out her humanity. I teared up so much when Xander kept saying "I love you" only for evil Willow to have a break down, slap, punch, and push him away only for her to break down in his arms too.
Fred dying in "Angel" was heartbreaking too. Of course she ends up coming back as an ancient demon, but seeing the death of another great character who was badass in her own right as sad still.
Edgar Stile's death in Season 5 of 24 was crushing too. I actually liked him and how well intentioned he was. Chloe's reaction to her having no choice but to watch him die slowly due to the nerve agent was well done. Renee Walker's murder in Season 8 was well written and paved way for the force of death that Jack became towards the end.

Law & Order.... Claire, my favorite ADA. She was doing a good thing by giving Lenny a ride home. Everything is fine then... crash.... Can't watch this one.
And Henry Blake still gives me chills...

Nei in Phantasy Star 2. Seriously WTF!!! *cries* That was a real shocker (Also yay another PS fan *high five from the distance") One death that really pissed me off was Miharu Ratokie in mobile suit gundam. She was a girl who had to act as a spy for zeon in order to feed her brothers since they lost their parents. Then she gets involved with Kai Shiden, a guy who at that point only cared for himself. Then after helping Kai to stop the invasion at the white base, she dies in stupid fashion. Kai gets destroyed, and the little kids where never mentioned again, it really felt like there was a super sad ending for both characters, specially since in Z kai was still alone. Damn that pissed me off

But this episode I felt was the real start of shifting Beast Wars Megatron from magnificent bastard that you loved to hate to just pure evil that needed to be taken down.

Bobby Baccalieri.
If there was a nice guy on the Sopranos, he was it. He didn't deserve his fate.
Also, in terms of an upsetting death, Ralphie Cifaretto. It's not so much that I was upset by him dying, but I was just so holy shit taken aback by the manner in which he died.

The original Night of the Living Dead from 1968. If you've seen it, you know exactly which death I mean. And if you haven't, no spoilers here

In Torchwood: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Why did Ianto have to die? WHY? And Tosh and Owen. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Ianto's death is a big reason why I root for Gwen Cooper to die in the messiest way possible. Why they kept her useless, annoying ass around and offed other, much better characters, I'll never know. In Serenity {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Serenity}Book and Wash. They were my two favorite characters, so of course Whedon offed them both. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}At least Book's death added to the story. Wash's was purely shock value and pissed me off.

Spoilers for Boardwalk Empire {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Richard Harrow's death in the most recent season finale was goddamn heartbreaking. BE in general doesn't pull any punches when it comes to killing off characters, but Harrow was IMO the most likable character on the show, so him dying in such a random, tragic way was just awful. A friend of mine legitimately quit the show over it. {Spoiler}Yeah, Maybelle's death makes it all the more worse. It just feels so pointless and tragic. I have a friend who also said she may stopwatching after it. I love the show to death, but man I was feeling like crap after that episode.
