Many of us may wish that his character would get some form of change it desperately needs; but the guy's a quality dude.

These two are why I just cannot hate John Cena.

Cena really is awesome. I am so happy that he made those people happy. He gave them something to ease the pain. I showed this video to my mom, who was there the second time I met him, and even she said she liked it. Even though his character is something people are tired of, I still love the expressions on the kids faces when they see him. He truly is a class act.

I love Chive Charities and had no idea Cena was a fan of the site. Awesome work on all accounts. Keep Calm and Chive On

Wanting Cena to get new kinds of storylines is one thing and totally understandable, but this is why I think WWE is so stubborn with how he's presented. Not out of any I'm Vince McMahon Dammit sentiment, but because the man really does connect with a lot of people, young and/or lesser off especially.
They probably just realize that they're doing great things in the charity aspect, so instead of possibly doing something to taint his image in the eyes of those sick kids he's met and inspired, they'll let Cena tween it up for certain crowds here and there as a tradeoff.

He honestly seems like a really good person. His character sucks, however.

I don't mind them doing some new stuff with Cena, but I hope he never does turn full on heel. While it is scripted can you imagine how the poor kids would take it? I don't think Hogan ever had this connection with the kids. He at least didn't do the work Cena does with them.

None at all. Having him be a troll to the smarks is much more funnier than see children have their hero turn on them. And besides, for a lot of kids, Cena is a hero. The world needs more hero's, more people who people can look up to. To the kids, Cena is that hero.

For everyone that has had a problem with Cena and Hogan, you can't deny that they give back.

He's essentially WWE's own version of those kinds of heroes.

After he visited, when he left the house a bunch of wrestling fans were outside chanting "YOU STILL SUCK! YOU STILL SUCK!"

I will gladly take being bored by the occasional Cena match if it means that these kids keep getting the inspiration that the kid in the video did from him. Cena's good people.

Heartwarming.
Though there's nothing wrong with respecting the man for his fantastic work with charities, and being bored with the superstar for his beyond stale character and omnipresence.
