I don't see anything in here about casting, so whoopdy-frickin-doo so far.

Doctor Strange should be played by Oded Fehr, the man looks like him and if they go ahead with the movie and make it a franchise I hope Baron Mordo is the first villain followed by Shuma Gorath

I'm surprised Dr. Strange is getting a movie because really.... he's a very boring character. He's okay as the go-too guy for advice on magical matters but whenever he takes anything close to centre stage or hell, appears for more than a few pages, I find myself rapidly losing interest.

Dr. Strange: The Oath was an incredible series that shows he can carry the workload easily.

I was actually kind of hoping that C. Robert Cargill would be picked to write... he wrote the script for "Sinister" (also directed by Derrickson) and he knows the background material. Cargill used to review movies at Spill.com under the name Carlyle:

Shuma-Gorath ideally requires 2 movies devoted him to really beef up what he is and what a threat he should be portrayed as, Shuma is a universal threat and needs serious plot devoted to him to make him work as a universal disaster, otherwise he just becomes a one eyed squid monster.

And
@tonythenunes
Hey @scottderrickson, Joaquin Phoenix was shopping for some Dr. Strange comics at Sarge's Comics in New London, CT last week. Is he the Dr.?

I AM DISGUSTED AND I SORELY HOPE THIS RUMOR IS JUST THAT.
Seriously, I'm struggling to think of people I want in this role less than...him.

I'm curious to see if they have the first movie focus on Strange's origin. It is a pretty good one for a super hero, but here in 2014 there might be some resistance to a story so filled with cliches.

I like Phoenix don't get me wrong, but Marvel this is your guy (in my ideal casting scenario) right here I can imagine him fitting well into the universe, he has a likeability factor and yet also has a strong and prominent darker edge as an actor (and in portraying characters), is believable yet can also do large and spectacular, he seems like a cool guy who would be loyal to future movies if offered the right contract, is still moderately young by actor terms and has plenty of years left in him, has experience but yet hasn't had a "mainstream" break out role in a major blockbuster hollywood summer movie (that MCU is centered around mostly doing) to truly put him at the top of the actors in the game (where I feel he deserves to be). I could go on but he is my ideal pick

Oh thank god it's not the other writer who rewrote the Prometheus script and made it awful. Also Joaquin Phoenix is probably by far one of the best actors today. So I don't mind. I don't know anything about Doctor Strange but based on Joaquin Phoenix acting ability he's probably one of the best choices

Marvel should likely be careful here, or they may end with another Ed Norton scenario.
A good choice in terms of acting ability, but not the most 'screwed in' of people

I could go on but he is my ideal pick There are a few issues with Jake, one being Strange is a pompous, arrogant, egomaniac basically a Magical Iron Man and I don't feel Jake could pull that off. Strange also is on the older side even when his book started off. I still stand with my choice of Oded Fehr the man even looks like Strange, is kind of an unknown to some and isn't afraid to do stunts

So the movie won't be a origin story

Oddly enough they have to kind of make Strange oldish as he is a surgeon before he became a magician and to become a surgeon takes years of education and then climbing the work ladder in medical environments.
So at the youngest he could be minimum 30 (then he needs to learn all the magic stuff) so add another 2-5 years for that and you are looking at 35 +. In my opinion.
