*wait and see*
While I haven't seen the PPV yet, I read the results...so take this for what you will.
But this is/was/always will be: a FILLER PPV that no one will remember in the long run. You want a changing of the guard in terms of title switches/Bray beating Jericho/etc...you want that at SUMMERSLAM!!
I don't know how the Jericho/Bray match ended...but with the stupid way that WWE just recycles matches from month to month (looking at you Del Rio/Sheamus) Bray will probably get his win at the bigger PPV.
How many people can really remember what happened last year at Battleground? I cant...at all...but I know I saw it. Team Hell No and the Shield maybe?

They have an embarrassment of riches, and they are seemingly unsure of what to do with most of it. This line really struck me, because I can't help but think it's the furthest from the truth. I think there are definitely people in the company that know what they want to do, but they can't or are too scared to do it. I think there are two sides to this current problem. The first side is easy. WWE is now a full fledged corporation along the likes of WalMart and other corporate behemoths. They don't have just the customers to answer to any more. Stockholders (many that don't give two craps about the way someone is booked), advertisers, etc etc. I think the WWE are scared of doing anything that may upset the status quo. I firmly believe this and I think this is why when we do see something truly engaging (The Nexus debut, Punk's pipebomb, etc), they immediately water it down and saturate it to the point where its mushy and you know exactly how its going to taste....like nothing. They've created this corporate juggernaut where the product doesnt really matter as long as people watch (and they do) and there are butts in the seats (and there are). I have no doubts in my mind that someone like HHH would much rather let some of these guys rip the way he was allowed to in the prime of his career. If mid-90s/Pre-Steph HHH was forced to do things the way they are now he'd NEVER have become a star. Maybe he's completely corporatized at this point and only cares about the bottom line. I just cant help but think that all of the guys in the WWE would much rather be doing their own promos and growing their characters organically rather than being churned out by failed sitcom writers that are used to formulas and telling the same joke ten different ways every week. Take Bray for example. This guy is incredibly talented, but every single one of his promos sound exactly the same. They feel manufactured and homogenized. I can't even remember one thing he's ever said, but his delivery is always great and he's always focused on his character. There just seems to be a disconnect between the corporatology of WWE and the natural/organic way that wrestling can connect with a fan and the way a worker connects with material. It's completely missing and when it does happen these days, they slowly but surely ruin it by applying a formula to it. The second side is Vince. He's done. His amazing "genius" has past its sell-by date and its time for him to give the final decision keys to someone else. He does the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. This PPV sucked ass. There was nothing on this show other than title defenses that's not on Raw. As usual, the workrate was mostly great. I don't watch WWE for workrate. I watch it for compelling storylines (at least I hope for it) and hopefully something new or at least unpredictable. We rarely get anything new or unpredictable now. At least during Attitude, despite some real garbage that was produced, there were great talents that were allowed to grow organically and things were unpredictable at its highest points. Now we get great talents that are just thrown on a conveyor belt and churned through a machine over and over and over again.

The non-title matches were Bray Wyatt vs Chris Jericho and Rusev vs Swagger, aka two legitimate feuds that were built up for a pay-per-view match. They are the farthest from "things you'd see on Raw"

Miz, John Cena & Sheamus walking round as champions, Bray Wyatt getting beat by a star jobber who never wins, Cesaro eliminated by a man who's legacy is in line with Tiger Ali Singh and Doink, carny level bait and switches for advertised matches and f***ing Kane main eventing. What a great time to be a fan of doing literally anything else with my life!

I think had I been watching this alone, I wouldn't have found it as bad as I did last night. I've been watching PPVs with friends since the Network started and just none of the people here were happening what was on the TV. I mean, we liked Usos/Wyatts, obviously, but everything after that was kind of a meh blur. At least we got Chinese food.

Just a filler PPV really. Aside from the tag title match and the battle royal it felt like a waste of money for me personally. So many endings to the matches fell completely flat, the Jericho win in particular. Miz also did a horrible job in the battle royal of hiding, he should have been more obvious about it if he wasn't going to bother.
Have to give WWE credit though for doing what they did with the Ambrose Rollins saga without having to have the match. I know it's been said many times before but I felt it just had to be said one more time...Dean Ambrose is a fricking badass.

Summerslam would benefit far more from a long weekly build up rather than throwing in a pointless PPV in the middle of it all.

Your plan is interesting, but 9 pay per views a year should be enough.

Royal Rumble WrestleMania Extreme Rules Payback Money In The Bank SummerSlam Night Of Champions Battleground Survivor Series

9 doesn't track... Even 8 would be better. 2 on 1 off. I still think Quarterly Traditionals and Monthly Network is the way to go though.

But with less would they really seem more important? Or would we just be stuck with the same as now, just less times a year?

Sorry to reply to myself here but i've just had to type this out again for posterity - IT'S 2014 AND YOUR WWE CHAMPIONS ARE SHEAMUS, THE MIZ AND JOHN CENA. f*** MY ASS. Okay, maybe I can understand Cena and Miz, both have been around for a decade or a little more. But Sheamus only debuted in 2009. Five years is a person's sell by date now?

I really like the TLC PPV though, even if last years wasn't much cop.
